One Hundred Sleepless Nights

I sat there in shock from what I was just told. I,Mike Fuentes, was being arrested for statutory rape. But.......i didn't rape anybody.

"Mr. Fuentes!" The officer spoke taking me away from my thoughts "How do you want to do this sir?"

How do I want to dothis? I'd rather not do it at all. How am I suppose to leave my daughter, my fiance, my brother, bestfriend.....everybody that I care about. Is there even a proper way to do this.

"Can you give me five minutes?"

Officer Rodriguez sighed "We aren't suppose to do that...."

"Please!" I beg looking from him to Michelle. She was eating her marshmallow, not a care in the world. "I want run. I just want to say goodbye to my family."

The both shook their head befor Officer Daniels spoke "We'll give you ten minutes. But we have to come inside and watch you."


"Sure, of course!" I say before reopening the door and ushering them into the house "Thank you."


The walk to the front room felt like the longest walk in my life. With each step I took my heart shattered even more if that's even possible.

"Daddy you're cryng." Michelle's voice broke through my clouded brain

I looked down at her and flashed a smile "My eyes are just itchy........I'm fine babydoll." I say as we enter the front room.

I walk over to the Christmas tree and sit Michelle down before I sitting down myself.

"Michelle I want you to open the gifts from me!" I choke out trying desperately to hold back tears.

Michelle looked up at me with wide eyes "But if I do Santa won't bring me any gifts."

"Me and Santa did a little negotiation. He said it's fine just this one time." I lied

Truthfully I just wanted to see my babygirl open atleast one Christmas present. I want to see her smile light up the whole room. I want to see her eyes twinkle. I wanted to see my babygirl happy one more time befor they take me away.

"Mike, what's going on?" Vic asked as Michelle started to rip open her first present. "You're letting her open up a gift early....Why?"

I looked at Vic and nodded my head towards the officers standing in the back of the room "I'm not gonna be here on Christmas."

Vic gasped and his eyes went big "Mike........what did you do?!"

"They're arresting me for statutory rape." I whisper as I watch Michelle

"Oh daddy got me the barbie house that i wanted!" Michelle belted loudly with a gorgeous smile etched on her little face

"Rape!" Vic whisper yelled at me "Is this from the other......"

"Yeah!" I say in a monotone "I'm guessing she was underaged or something."

"Fuck Mike!" Vic said as he started pacing

I looked over at Jaime and Tony who looked back at me speechless. My gaze eventually drifted to Sam who looked shocked, suprised and hurt.

"Daddy! Daddy!" Michelle ran up too me and jumped into my arms "Tank you so so so much!"

"You're welcome babygirl." I whispered into her hair.

That's when I broke. I completly broke. I could no longer hold back my sobs. "Baby girl daddy loves you so much okay. No matter what happens.....no matter what okay."

"Okay daddy. I love you too." she says


I get up and decide to say my goodbyes to everyone. I hug Tony "Bye Tone!"

He hugs me back "Bye Mike!" he whispers shyly

I move to Jaime "I'll see your goofy ass later!" I chuckle

"Yeah, I'll probably be down at the station with you in a while." He giggles lightly

Vic is crying softly when I arrive at him "Vic take there of them bro. Please, for me."

"Of course I will." Vic sniffles "I love you Mike."

I move to Sam. If my heart wasn't completely shattered before then it deffinately was now. Sam was sobbing loudly and I couldn't help but feel horrible. All this is my fought.

"Sam, I'm so so so sorry." I mummble into her hair as I pull her into a tight hug "I'm so sorry I'm hurting you like this. I love you so much."

"I love you too Mike." she whispers when I pull her into a kiss

I pull away and walk over to the officers. They stood there sadly. "Okay I'm ready officers."

I walk down the everlasting hallway. It feels like I'm walking down the valley of death. I can't believe this is really happening. I can't believe everything I ever loved is being taken away from me.


I walked to the front door and opened it, I waited for the officers to exit the door before closing it shut. I put my hands behind my back. There is no need for me to resist arrest. That will only make things worst than they already are.

If that's even possible.......


"Michael Christopher Fuentes, You are being arrested for the statutory rape of Fralena Nikki Danki. You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say...."

Everytng else became a blur. I don't remember being read the rest of my Miranda rights. I don't remember being handcuffed or being placed in the police car.

All I remeber is seeing my daughter's disorted face as shee ran after the police car crying for me to come back. And Sam's sad face as she picked Michelle up stopping her from running any farther.


And how dead I felt when there faces left my view



Only God knows how long it'll be til I see them again.
