The List
#22 Kiss Your Favourite Person & #23 Run Away Into The Sunset
I pulled back the curtain of Mike's bunk and peered inside. He was sleeping, breathing steadily. I smiled and climbed into his bunk. He rolled over and I gently shook him. I heard him groan but after a minute he turned to look at me. I smiled and he tried to but failed to smile due to the hair in his face. "Hey?" Mike asked and he sat up a little.
"I need to talk to you," I told him.
"Go on,"
"It's nearly sun set,"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry I forgot about that one. Are we still doing that?"
"Yeah, but there's another one I have to do first,"
"What?" he asked and I passed him the list. I watched him read 'kiss your favourite person' and his face dropped. I inhaled a breath and waited for him to speak. He passed me the list back and I coughed awkwardly. "Do you need me to walk you to them?" he asked tightly.
"Actually no,"
"They're on this bus, aren't they? You wanted my permission," he guessed.
"Kind of," I nodded.
"Is it Jaime or Tony? You've been cool with Vic lately," he rushed. "Not one of the tech guys? Don't you dare tell me it's Casey,"
"Mike, you're my favourite person in the world. I want to ask your permission for me to kiss you,"
"Really?" he asked.
"Yes," I nodded.
"Okay," he told me seriously. I got closer to him and he sat up a little. I wrapped my arms around Mike's neck and he put his at my waist. I took in his face in my hands and smiled softly. He looked at me and I saw his eyes travel over me to take me in.
"You're my best friend," I told him. I leant in and kissed him softly as our lips touched. They brushed at first but I got closer, pressing them harder on his. I felt my chest hit Mike's and I let myself sink into it as we kissed.
"Kay'! Mike!" Vic called. Mike broke the kiss and sat away from me. I looked at him and he smiled gently.
"Thanks," I told him, and he nodded. Mike kissed me on the cheek then got up, leaving me. I watched him walk away and eventually followed him. I saw the boys in the front lounge grinning at me.
"The sun's setting," Jaime told me.
"Can we go?" I asked.
"Yeah," Tony nodded. We walked outside and went around the bus. There was a grassy hill behind where we were parked and we stood in a line. Jaime at the end, then Vic, then me, then Tony and finally Mike. We readied ourselves and started running. We ran fast up the hill and into the sun. When we got to the top the sun was blinding and low. We kept holding hands and leant back a little. Our heels went down the hill until we were skidding to the bottom. I landed in a heap and felt Tony and Vic land on top of me, with Mike and Jaime on top of them. Then we just started laughing, high peals mingling in with the noise of the traffic on the other side of the hill.
