Jaime walked into the back lounge where I was. He sat down next to me and rested his head back against the sofa. I looked at him and raised my eyebrows. "Hard day at the office?" I asked lightly.
"A woman asked me if I wanted to hook up,"
"Wow,"
"When I say woman I mean she was eighteen,"
"How do you know?"
"She was wearing a happy eighteenth birthday badge," he explained.
"Normally a give away. So what did you say?" I asked.
"I said no! I have a girlfriend, Kay',"
"I know you do, Jaime," I nodded seriously.
"Can we do something on the list? Something fun," he tried.
"Let me see what's next," I said and took it out of my pocket. I read it and started to laugh.
"What?" he questioned.
"Get high," I said plainly.
"Wow, did your brother want to kill himself?"
"I've been thinking that," I replied casually.
"Like Clint Eewood in strip club drinking Jack,"
"What does that even mean?!" I exclaimed loudly.
"Don't tell me I need to explain it," he rolled his eyes.
"Number one, it's Clint Eastwood. Two, he was in Westerns, there weren't any strip clubs. Number three, why is he drinking whiskey?"
"It makes sense," Jaime defended.
"Vic! Jaime can't talk good! We have another one for the list!" I called. Vic popped his head around the door questioningly. "Like Clint Eewood in a strip club drinking Jack,"
"What the hell?" Vic asked and Jaime shrugged.
"Anyway, I think we need Mike," Jaime said.
"Mike?!" Vic yelled.
"Yo?" he asked and walked into the back lounge with Tony and Casey.
"I want to get high," I said seriously. Mike looked at me for a moment and broke out into a grin.
"I can do that," he said warmly. "Come on," he urged.
"Now?" I gasped.
"It's getting dark. We only have two hours before bus call,"
"Okay," I breathed and I took his hand. Mike led me out of the bus and outside. We walked across the road and down to an empty park. I raised my eyebrows and he sat me down on a bench in front of a lake.
"You sure about this?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. "I let you get me drunk. Now you're getting me high. I have too much faith in you,"
"Way to much," he said. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a joint. He held it up to show me and I took it. I examined it and passed it back. "Have you ever smoked?" he asked.
"Not for a while,"
"Really?" Mike asked.
"Hard to believe," I teased and raised my eyebrow.
"Yeah," he laughed. He lit it up and took a long drag. He put his head back and exhaled. I laughed and crossed my legs, facing him. Mike passed it to me and I took it. I placed it in between my lips and inhaled deeply, taking a drag. I closed my eyes for a second and let the feeling spread. I exhaled and watched the smoke ride up into the air. "Good?" Mike asked huskily.
"Good," I confirmed. I passed it back and Mike took another drag. I rested my head against his arm as he did and he wrapped his arm around me. "Why do you keep getting pissed off at me?" I asked once I'd had my turn.
"I don't,"
"You do," I whined.
"Alright, I do," he shrugged. "You're cool," he said and took a drag. "But I don't have a fucking clue what's going on with you. You're so damn confusing,"
"Sorry," I muttered.
"Don't be sorry, that means you regret stuff. And I don't want you to regret letting me show and do all these cool things with you. I get kind of stoked when I'm with you,"
"There's something else I want to do tonight," I told him once we'd finished it off.
"What?"
"The next thing is skinny dipping," I told him.
"Kay',"
"Come on. Just promise you won't look,"
"Fine, I promise," he smiled. I got up and walked over to the edge of the lake. I made sure Mike had his eyes closed then I peeled my jeans, shirt and jacket off. I undid my bra and slipped my underwear off. Then I took a running jump and dived into the water. It was freezing. It rushed into my ears and nose. I hit the surface and saw Mike watching my head bobbing up and down now. I laughed and slowly swam to the edge of the lake.
"Don't look," I grinned.
"I swear," Mike said and turned around. I got out from the water and put my clothes on over my wet body. I stood up and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and looked up at him. "Hey," he said.
"Can I have a hug?" I asked softly.
"Sure," he laughed. Mike wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him. I rested my head on his chest and looked down.
"Thanks," I muttered.
"For what?" he asked.
"For being the awesome drummer that gets me drunk and high and really makes me not want to go back to working in a shit shop at some broken down mall," I said quietly and softly.
"Good, I want to be that guy," he told me. I looked up again then hugged him tighter. I pulled away and he took my hand. We started to walk back to the bus.
"I'm hungry," I told him.
"Me too," he agreed.
"Shall we try to find food in our pathetic kitchen?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure," Mike laughed. We opened the bus door and walked inside. I looked at the digital clock on the wall and saw it was nearly time for bus call. We went to the kitchen and grabbed bags of pre made food. Mike led me into the back lounge where the guys still were. We sat on the floor and set the food in front of us.
"So," Tony said.
"Yeah?" Mike asked as we started to eat.
"Why are you wet?" Jaime asked.
"I jumped into a lake," I said simply, causing Mike to laugh.
"And we still don't have a Kayleigh isn't normal list," Jaime said dryly.
