The next morning the girls awoke in Ryan’s bed around 9am. The sun was beaming through the curtains and glared right onto Amelia’s face. She groaned at the sudden warmth and light so turned over, almost hitting Tegan in the face as she did so.

“Morning loser” Tegan joked as she slowly opened her eyes, knowing the light will affect her straight away.

“Morning snorer” Amelia said back.

“I do not snore” Tegan protested.

“You do”

“I know, it only happens when I drink though, which is pretty weird” Tegan admitted.

“There’s a lot of weird things” Amelia said thoughtfully as she remembered Tegan’s conversation with Ryan. She was contemplating bringing it up but didn’t know how she would go about it, luckily Tegan hadn’t noticed the awkwardness and replied with

“A lot of weird things indeed” She giggled at herself and jumped out of the bed and went into the bathroom.

After both girls had used the bathroom and got dressed they headed downstairs. When downstairs they laughed at the amount of mess there was.

“Poor Ryan” Amelia whispered.

“I feel bad just leaving and not helping him tidy up” Tegan said.

“Yeah me too, maybe next time we’ll stay and help” Amelia said.

“You’re already planning a next time?” Came a male voice from behind the girls.

“Oh shit Ryan, you scared the life out of me” Amelia said with her hand over her chest.
Tegan was in fits of laughter at how high Amelia jumped.

“Sorry, so why are you girls not sticking around to help out if you feel so bad about it?” He asked jokingly.

“Because we’re going to I-Hop for breakfast and that’s more appealing than empty solo cups and probably puke somewhere” Tegan said with a playful smile.

“Fair enough. Honestly though, don’t feel bad about it. I’ll just get Cameron and that lot to help me like usual. They know if they want to ever come back they better help out so you girls get out of it” He said.

“Good to know” Amelia replied.

“So whenever my next party is, I expect to see both of you here” Ryan practically demanded.

“You bet your sweet ass we’ll be here” Tegan spoke for both of them.

“What she said” Amelia followed.

“Good, now go before the boys wake up and try and get you in on the cleaning action. Thanks for coming along” Ryan said quietly as he walked them both towards the front door.

“See you later hun” Tegan gave Ryan a hug and the girls departed.


“Hun?” Amelia asked as she placed the keys into her car’s ignition.

“He’s a friend, it’s what I call him, no biggie” Tegan said, thinking it was nothing to call him that.

“Okay”

“What, why do you say it like that?” Tegan asked sounding a bit confused.

“I don’t know, I just think he has a thing for you and you calling him things like ‘hun’ will only make him think you like him back” Amelia replied.

“Ryan doesn’t like me. Even if he did he knows I’m with Vic and that nothing would ever happen.” Tegan said firmly.

“So long as he does know” Amelia said.

“He does. Now lets stop talking about that and go get some pancakes”

“Pancakes! Pancakes! Pancakes!” Amelia chanted in response.


Amelia and Tegan decided to spend the day at the mall, they went back to the Fuentes’ before going though so Tegan could have a shower and get changed. While there Vivian gave her a postcard that had come in the post; it was from Vic. It was from New York and he had written a little message on the back about how he was having so much fun and had met so many people over the last week but couldn’t wait to get home and be with the most important person in his life. It warmed Tegan’s heart and made it ache at the same time. She wanted him home now. She was dealing with the distance much better this time around, since she had already suffered the worst of it when she was in New York with Delphi.
Tegan didn’t spend too long showering or changing, she did it in her own room so she could hide her stash. Amelia was downstairs so it wasn’t difficult for Tegan to do so.

“Ready” Tegan announced as she entered the living room. “We’re going to the mall mama, is there anything you need me to get while I’m there?” Tegan asked.

“No thank you sweetie, you girls have fun” Tegan walked over to Vivian and gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving the house with Amelia.

“I haven’t been shopping in so long” Tegan said.

“Neither have I. I usually get everything online” Amelia admitted.

“Same, fewer people to have to interact with” Tegan replied.

“Exactly that” They both giggled at their hate for people. Amelia turned up the radio and for the rest of the journey to the mall the girls sang along to every song that was played.
The girls’ first stop, when they get to the mall, is footlocker. Amelia wanted a new pair of sneakers and there was a pair she had seen and desperately wanted. After that stop they just wandered in and out of stores for a few hours.

They had decided on a caffeiene break and headed into Starbucks for a latte each. While they were in the line a couple of familiar faces walked in and stood behind them.

“And there we were thinking you boys were spending the day tidying up” Amelia said to Ryan and Cameron.

“Well we’re proper little housewives, we managed to get it all done in record time” Ryan said cockily.

“Maybe you could come round and tidy my house then” Amelia offered.

“We’ll see” Cameron joked.

“So what are you guys having? It’s on me, for us not sticking around this morning” Tegan said to the boys.

“If that’s the case I’ll get the most expensive drink on the menu” Ryan responded.

“Don’t be a dick” Tegan laughed.

“Just a caramel Frapp please” Cameron said.

“Make that two” Ryan continued.

“Coming right up” Tegan said and placed their order while the other three went and got a table.

“We’re going to the movies tonight, you girls should come along” Cameron advised.

“It sure beats sitting at home and twiddling my thumbs” Amelia shot.

“I’m game. What time?” Tegan asked.

“Meet us outside the theatre at 7?” Ryan advised.

“Sure thing” Tegan said with a smile.

“Well we have some man stuff to take care of, see you lovely ladies tonight” Ryan said as he stood. He gave Tegan and Amelia a hug before leaving the coffee shop, Cameron doing the same.

“It’s going to be like a weird double date that isn’t a double date” Amelia stated.

“You mean four friends hanging out?” Tegan laughed.

“That too”Amelia commented.

After their coffee the girls spent another hour in the mall, picking up a few CDs and some clothes from a few shops, before going back to Amelia’s house. When they arrived they hung out with Simon for a bit and told him he should go out with them tonight. He declined their offer since he had something more appealing to him on the cards; a date with one of the most beautiful girls at their school. Considering Simon isn’t one of the most popular kids at school he sure does hang out with the ‘cool kids’ a lot. Maybe he is one of the ‘cool kids’ but just hangs out with Amelia, Tegan and Vic because he’s Amelia’s twin and they don’t see him as the popular type.

“Fine, you go be all preppy with your popular bimbo” Amelia kidded.

“Hey, don’t be so judgemental. Carrie is actually really nice” Simon said seriously. “A lot nicer than Mike anyway” Simon muttered.

“Hey, if I can’t hate on the girl you’re dating then you can’t hate on the guy I like” Amelia demanded.

“Fine, just get out of my room so I can get ready please” Simon shooed the girls out of his room and they went along the hall to Amelia’s.

Originally the girls weren’t going to get changed for the night but since they had just bought some really nice outfits and were going out they decided they would wear something new. Amelia decided on a nice little summer dress, it had lots of flowers all over it but it wasn’t too floral. She wore a denim jacket and a pair of black converse with it. Tegan opted for something less girly and went for jeans and yet another band t-shirt, paired with red vans and a large plaid shirt.

The girls had made the decision to call the boys and see if they want to get dinner before watching the movie and Ryan and Cameron thought it was a good idea, so once the girls had finished getting ready they left and met up with the boys. They all went to one of the chain restaurants in the mall.

It was a simple meal and wasn’t at all like an awkward double date despite Amelia thinking it would be. After dinner they went to the movie theatre and chose a comedy that had just been released. It lasted the usual length of time a film does and afterwards they all parted in their own ways.

Amelia took Cameron home, since they live close to each other and Ryan took Tegan home. On the way home Ryan spoke about Vic, Mike and the tour.

“So how long do they have left of tour?” He started.

“They come back in just under two weeks” Tegan informed him.

“Is it weird living with their parents while they’re away?” Ryan asked.

“Not at all, Vivian and Victor are my second parents. It’s just like I’m an only child again” Tegan joked.

“Do you miss Vic though?” He asked with a wink.

“Ohmygod Ryan.” She replied and hit his arm “Yes I do” She continued with a laugh.

“He’s a lucky guy. You’re pretty fucking awesome Tegan.” Ryan said sweetly.

“Thank you, you’re pretty awesome too. I bet you have plenty of girls lining up for you somewhere” Tegan complemented hoping that he would get the hint that she doesn’t want to be anything more than friends or drug dealer/buyer.

“I know a few” He replied being jokingly full of himself.

“Well then you go get ‘em tiger” Tegan laughed at the way that sounded.

“I will do” Ryan laughed in return. “Here you go” He said as he pulled up to Tegan’s house.

“Thank you. This has been a fun weekend.” Tegan leant over and gave Ryan a hug before hopping out of his car and walking over to her door. She turned around before entering and waved at him, he waved at the smile and pulled away and Tegan went inside.
