Little Lady

CapĂtulo treinta

I placed the money and the note down on top of the nightstand, curiosity clawing at my brain. Half of me told me to run in the completely opposite direction but if I'd learned anything about myself it was that I was addicted to danger.

Taylor wouldn't hurt me anyway, would he?

I didn't care to find out. I picked up the gun, it was smooth and sleek and strangely fit perfectly in my hand, I turned it over, once, twice, and put my finger on the trigger, I aimed it at the closet I was stood by earlier and pretended to pull the trigger, making a gunshot sound with my mouth. A smile pawed at my lips, I put the gun to my temple and closed my eyes, my smile spreading, and repeated what I'd done before, pretending to pull the trigger and making my own gunshot sound.

Okay that was enough playing around. I made my way over to my backpack and opened it, I pulled out most of the contents, skirts, shirts, panties, and found the black shirt I was looking for. I carefully laid out the shirt and laid the gun on top of it, I then folded the shirt around it and placed it slowly into my bag and shoved all the other contents I'd pulled out, back in.

I went back to the night stand, a smile still on my lips, for once I was one step ahead. I put the money and the note in the draw the gun was in only moments ago and closed it. I'd been up here a while, it was best if I went downstairs before he came looking for me.

A beautiful aroma hit my nose upon entering the kitchen.

"Mmm, what's that?" I asked raising my brows and heading over to the table to wait for him to finish cooking.

"Spanish omelette." He announced with a smile. Moments later he set it down in front of me, it looked delicious and I was incredibly hungry, I got stuck in straight away, it was too hot and burned my mouth but I didn't really care. "Good?" He question with a small laugh as he watched me devour the omelette, I nodded, my mouth too full of food for me to talk.

"Slow down you're going to choke!" He joked with a laugh and the comment reminded me so much of Mike and that time he'd sat with me while I ate while I was trapped in the ogres house. I finished the last of it slowly, my smile completely gone from my face, he looked at me with a question mark expression but didn't say anything. I was reluctant to answer any questions right now anyway so I was glad he isn't ask any.

"That was delicious, hats off to the chef, pal!" I smiled as genuinely as I could manage too and he returned the smile while he took my plate away.

"Have you decided where you want me to take you?" He asked whilst rinsing my plate.

"Um, not really, not yet anyway. I definitely need to leave here though." I blurted, I didn't mean it like it came out.

"Oh." Was his reply and I felt a little guilty.

"No, I didn't mean that in a bad way," I said while standing up from the table, "I just feel as though I've taken advantage of your hospitality so it would be best if I moved along." I elaborated.

"You don't have to explain, it's okay, I get it." He told me after he'd dried his wet hands and flashed me a genuine smile. I wanted to know if he meant what he was saying or if he was just really good at pretending. I couldn't tell either way.

"Do you live alone?" I asked just to divert the conversation and stop my wandering mind.

"Yeah, I have a daughter but she lives with her mom in San Francisco." His honesty was very endearing and somewhat attractive.

"How old?" My curiosity was well and truly piqued.

"She's almost five." He smiled at the thought of her which made me smile also.

"The cute age," I clarified, "that won't last long." I joked and he smirked in agreement.

"Anywho, I'm going to go get dressed." I announced for no reason, I heard him say okay as I exited the room and headed back upstairs. I threw my backpack on the bed, digging around the shirt the gun was wrapped in and pulled out some leather pants and black lace blouse, I pulled on some matching black panties and bra just because I was feeling sexy and quickly got dressed, zipping my backpack back up and shoving it in the corner of the room. It had been rather cold lately but I saw some streaks of light sneak through the glass of the French doors that led to the balcony, beckoning me to go outside.

So of course I did.

It wasn't really any warmer than usual, the breeze carrying the suns warmth away with it, away from me. I walked up to the railing and rested my arms on there, admiring the view, I felt like I was in a cheesy movie where the protagonist is all blind optimism and drunken faith in humanity. The thought made me smile slightly.

People below made their busy way to their destination, completely oblivious to my existence a few floors above them, up here felt superior, powerful. I liked it. A mother growled at her child for not keeping close to her, warning him of the nasty men out there that will kidnap him, the child began to cry and she knelt down opening her arms to him, feeling remorse for her cruel words. I saw a man with an umbrella, although it wasn't raining or anything, he held it close to his head as he swooped down and pulled the woman's purse from her back pocket, reinstating her comment about the mean people of the world. I saw families and couples, people crying and some shouting curse words from car to car. Watching everyone reminded me of Vic and the way he always glanced out of that window, hoping and wishing for something he had never ever had, my heart ached a little and I subconsciously wrapped my arms around myself.

Maybe it was time to go home.

I gasped suddenly, spotting a young man on the street below, his shoulder length chocolate brown hair blowing about his face and temporarily blinding him, he pulled it out of his face and kept walking, I couldn't see the expression on his face but I could imagine it was maybe lost and vacant.

"Vic!" I shouted, something warm and gooey filling up inside my being. "Vic!" I shouted louder when he didn't even so much as flinch at the sound of his name. He was here, I had to get his attention, he was going to pass by and I'd maybe never see him again, it was now or never.

"Vic!" I screamed. Nothing. I slammed my hand on the railing in frustration. He couldn't hear me. I had to get out of here, I had to get down there, now. I tucked my hair behind my ear and rapidly rushed to grab my backpack, I shoved my feet into my shoes whilst pushing both arms through my backpack straps and before leaving the room I quickly checked the mirror, I looked thinner and slightly ghostly but not too shabby, my hair was still rather damp but that didn't even matter. A smile spread widely on my face and I ran down the stairs as fast as I could.

Before Taylor could even ask what was going on I was out of the door, my heart beating a million miles an hour, my mind racing and wandering, going back in time to when we first met and forward in time to how we'd reunite now. God I couldn't keep the smile off of my face.

He'd only just passed the apartment as I reached the street, I ran up behind him and saw that earphones were the reason he hadn't heard me shout him, I tapped his shoulder quickly, my foot tapping with excitement and impatience, he turned around slowly, probably afraid of who it was. When he saw me and recognition flashed on his face it lit up and I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him so so tightly.

And this time I swore I wouldn't let go.
