I sat in my room, headphones in and Pierce the Veil blasting. I tried so hard to ignore the world, I was doing good until I thought of twitter. I really only use it to follow bands, it makes me feel like I’m in the loop, connected so to speak. So I opened my laptop and logged in. I scrolled through my newsfeed and I saw a tweet from Jaime Preciado.

When I read this, I never thought that it would change my life. I was so excited that they were so close to me, I just had to tell everyone! I got up with my laptop and practically flew to the living room.
“Guess what.?!” I squealed at my mom.
“What.?!” My mom returned the excitement
“Pierce the veil is in Salt Lake RIGHT NOW!” I started jumping around actin like a 2 year old. My fangirl definitely showing through.
“Oh really? Are they playing a show, or just passing through?”
“I guess just passing through, ‘cause if there was a show I would’ve known.” I sat down next to her
She turned and looked at me with a mischievous smile, “I think we should go and see if we ‘accidentally’ run into them.’ She said using air quotes.
I looked at her in disbelief. I didn’t say anything I just squealed and ran to my room to get ready. As I got ready my mind was going a million miles an hour. I did my hair and makeup, so all that was left to do was choose my clothes. I wanted to look cute but still be as much of myself as I could be. So instead of wearing my black skirt and tank top with my grey shall, I settled for my worn out jeans with a bon jovi ‘slippery when wet’ t-shirt and my plaid airwalks. I wanted to wear my pink vans but they disappeared, I couldn’t find them anywhere.

I went out to the living room where my mom was waiting, “you ready yet?” she teased me.
“Yeah, I just gotta do something real quick.” I ran to my room and grabbed my laptop. I flipped it open and checked twitter one last time before we left, Jaime tweeted again.

I smiled and closed my laptop looking at my mom, “ready to go now?” she teased me again.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” we got in the truck and headed for salt lake. It was about a 45 minute drive from Tooele, I lived in one of the smallest unheard of towns in Utah.
On our way my mom’s phone went off, “who would be texting you at midnight?”
“Oh, I just texted Todd and asked where we should look, seeing as we have no idea where they are.” (Todd is my mom’s gay best friend.)
“Oh yeah, that’s a good idea.” I said in a ‘no duh’ tone.
I read Todd’s message, “there’s only one bar that sells sushi and has pool, I’m pretty sure it’s called showgun. Good luck Hun!”
I looked at my mom and laughing, “That sounds like a strip club.”
“Nah, it’s not. I know where that it.”
I just looked forward and turned the stereo up. We blasted Pierce the Veil and sang completely off key. Caraphernelia came on, there is no way you can goof of while singing that song… unless you’re me. I looked at her with my best creeper face looking completely serious, and then sang very loudly and of key;
“SUNSHINE, there aint a thing that you can do that’s gonna ruin my night!”
She looked at me and started laughing.
I gave her a questioning look, “what?”
“Just your facial expressions, they’re priceless!”
I just laughed and kept singing. Soon we were downtown.
“We’re about a block away”
I gave my mom a nervous smile,” I can’t believe you talked me into this.”
“What? I just suggested it, you’re the one who committed.”
“I know, it just feels better blaming you.” I laughed

My mom pulled over, “well it shouldn’t be that bad. They’re closed.”
I looked past my mom and sure thing, showgun was closed. “Well since we’re here, can we drive around? Maybe we’ll see their tour bus or something.” I gave my mom a puppy dog look.
“Sure thing, Hun.” My mom said with a smile
We started driving around and my mom stopped and looked at me, “I think I might know where they would probably be parked.”
“Where?”
“There’s a lot of empty parking lots over by the energy solutions building. Do you wanna check?”
“Oh my gosh, yes!” I was practically jumping out of my seat from excitement.
“Ok then, let’s go!” she pulled back in to the street, I didn’t realize how close we already were to it.
“Ok, so look for a blue bus with a mustache on it.” I told her, looking out my window.
We were passing a parking lot on my left, “so like that one?” she asked
I looked over so fast I was dizzy for a second. “Yeah, but it’s blue, that one’s green. I’m pretty sure that’s not their bus.” And as if on que a cab pulled up to the bus. I was staring at it, and a very tall guy got out. I looked closely at him.
“OH MY GOSH!” I squealed, and my mom looked at me weird.
“What?!”
“That’s mike! At least I’m pretty sure it is.”
I looked and another guy and a girl with pink hair got out. I didn’t recognize them, so I doubted that it was mike. Then another guy got out.
“Ok yes that was definitely mike because that is Vic!” I watched as they all went into the bus.
“Go pull around the corner.” I told my mom
“Why?”
“I’ll explain in a second.”
She pulled around the corner and parked, I was fixing my hair and makeup in the visor mirror. “Do I look ok?” I said nervously
“Yes, now tell me the plan!” she said laughing
“So, I’m gonna go and knock on their bus door, and when they answer I’ll explain how I was at a club with my friends and we got in a fight so I left and they have my phone and I’m lost. And I’ll ask if I can borrow theirs to call you, and then I’ll call you and maybe have a chance to go on the bus, maybe.”
My mom stared at me in silence for a moment. “I taught you so well!” she beamed, “now go meet your favorite band!” as she pushed me out of the car.
It felt as if I flew to the parking lot, just as the cab pulled out and left. I walked up to the bus and knocked.
