"Well done" he clicks his fingers in a rhythmic way smiling at me widely.

"Put your soul into it"

"Try harder to reach that top note"

"Use your diaphragm, not your throat"

"Feel what you're singing"

"A, G G, E, B, C, C,C"

His voice is firm but always loving and he always gives out hugs if he thinks you've taken his criticism too hard.

"I'm gonna change the world, dad" I beamed up at him, entirely sure that my words were honest predictions of what lies ahead

"I know, son. You're going to be great" he smiles down at me pulling off the glasses from his nose and folding them up.

"And me and me!" Mike pipes up and dad crouches and scoops us both up in his arms

"You're going to be huge, boys. All in your own time" and he kisses us in turn on the cheek.

I wake up with a start.

It was just a dream. Emptiness immediately slams into me, it was just a dream, but I wish it wasn't. I sigh taking my feet off of the dashboard. Wait the what? - the dashboard? I scan my surroundings and realize I'm in a car and have probably slept here all night.

But who's car?

I smile lazily, Hazel's car! Memories of last night flash in my mind and my smile gets wider.

The way she turned up to cheer me up, the drinking, the laughing, the talking, the kiss...yes the kiss. My stomach flutters. The kiss. - as if on cue something beeps and I dig around on the floor for the source; I find my phone between a bottle of tequila and a bottle of Mountain Dew.

*Where did you end up last night bro?* It's Mike

*I'm outside, a few doors down, in a range rover* I text back and a few minutes later and then immediately regret it. Shit. He's going to come out here and want to know who's car it is and how I met her and I'm going to have to go into major detail.

I groan and lean my head back against the headrest. Aha! I spot the keys already in the ignition and decide to just drive off before he can hit me with his inquisition. I start the engine and see in the rearview mirror that the front door of my house opens and Mike steps out scanning the street, I slam my foot down on the accelerator and screech away from the curb. Laughing stupidly to myself. I am a ninja.

"Car to door service, ma'am" I say in a strong southern accent and then smirk and dangle the keys in midair as she opens the door
"I hope you haven't taken Gurty for a joyride, Victor" she pulls her invisible specs down onto her nose poshly and speaks in a fake British accent, trying to be serious but not being able to hide the shadow of a smile on her lips
"Gurty?" I raise an eyebrow at her and she laughs loudly, turning round and grabbing her jacket that hangs on the bannister and heading back to the open door to face me.
"Guys name their penis" she folds her jacket around her and inserts her arms in the sleeves "I name my car" she shrugs snatching the keys from my hands and walking past me towards 'gurty.'

I laugh inwardly at the ridiculous name and pull her front door shut before following after her and heading towards her car. She unlocks the car with the key fob and I walk round to the passengers side of the car, she raises her eyebrows at me looking at me over the roof of the car.
"Coffee?" I question her and she flashes a grin at me
"Coffee" she nods and opens the door climbing into the drivers seat.

And things just feel kind of brighter.

So this was terribly short and mediocre. . .
I apologise, I wrote this at a party last night - because I am ever so sociable - and I've edited it a little but I don't think I'm completely satisfied. Ew.
