Chapter Forty-One
-1 Year later-
“Aw, he’s getting so big” Erica says to Jaime as his son Jacob waddles between the pair of them.
“I know, it’s all too fast. He’ll be in high school soon” Jaime joked.
Jaime and Erica were having best friend time on the bus, while everyone was out. They had just finished lunch and reminiscing about the past year, a lot has happened in that year.
Erica’s band toured a few more times and just finished recording their second album, Jaime and Jess had their baby and moved into a new home. Vic and Tony both got really nice girlfriends and Erica took over ownership of Think Ink and is now her own boss for all of her jobs, sort of. Mike and Erica went to Chicago for Christmas; it was the best vacation either of them could have imagined. Erica threw Mike a huge birthday party too which was a lot of fun. They also went to Harry Potter World and Disneyland many, many times.It was now summer and both bands were on The Warped tour and enjoying it like crazy. After Warped they were actually going to be touring Europe together alongside Miss May I.
“Hey little buddy” Mike said as he came through the door. “Who’s the best uncle in the world? Uncle Mikey, you’re right” Jaime and Erica just laughed at Mike, who had now got Jacob on his lap when he sat next to Erica.
“You’re back early” Erica pointed out.
“I need a shower and I knew you two would be gossiping so I thought I’d get to it before one of the twins spend the rest of the year in there” They were sharing the party bus this time round because, well it’s the fucking party bus.
“They do take forever in the shower to be fair” Jaime mocked.
“I know, Chad’s the worst. Mike said as he placed Jacob back on his play mat and walked upstairs to get a towel before returning downstairs and going into the bathroom.
When Mike was in the bathroom and Jaime had heard the water running, he bought something up that Erica had been thinking about a lot lately.
“I really want you two to get married already” He pleaded.
“Shh” Erica hissed.
“Come on, you forget I know you better than anyone and right now I know that your mind is changing about the whole idea of marriage and/or getting engaged” Jaime had a smile on his face that was infectious enough to cause Erica to mimic his facial expression.
“The idea of it may have become more appealing to me but that doesn’t mean we’re going to get engaged like that” She clicked her fingers “And I’m not going to just go up to Mike and be like hey propose to me”
“Maybe I’ll go up to him and be like hey propose to Erica instead then” Jaime joked
“Do that and I will beat you up” She threw a pillow at him which caused Jacob to laugh.
“Auntie Erica is beating daddy up” Jacob was laughing again and Jaime decided to become the tickle monster.
It had been two weeks since Erica and Jaime had the conversation about marriage and it was also Erica and Mike’s 2 year anniversary. It happened to fall on an off day which meant they could go to the aquarium on a date. Erica, as you already know, loves aquariums but she has no idea what is in store for her when she gets there today.
“Are you ready?” Mike asked as he went over to the bunk area
“Yeah, just putting my shoes on” Erica came out wearing a star wars dress and black converse, with a bowler hat and a pair of ‘John Lennon sunglasses’. The dress was actually hand made by a pair of fans mom. They gave it to Erica as a gift at one of Anonymous’ shows and it had been Erica’s favourite item of clothing ever since. She actually followed the girls on Twitter and Instagram and she always mentioned them whenever she posted a picture of her in it.
“You look stunning” Mike kissed Erica on the cheek and the couple took a picture in the full body mirror before heading out.
“You look really handsome today as well, I love it when you dress up nice” Erica complimented.
“Thank you, just don’t expect this all the time” He winked and they got in the taxi.
“Ohmygod Mike look at the sharks, we should go swimming with sharks sometime” Erica suggested
“Rather you than me sweetie” Mike had been snapping photos of Erica all day; he loved the way she was reduced to a child whenever she came to the aquarium or the zoo. They had seen pretty much everything, all except the turtles.
“Hey E come on, I want to see the turtles.” Mike encouraged.
When they got to the door that would lead into the turtle section of the aquarium it was closed off and a sign that read ‘private party’ was hanging on the door. Erica was gutted at first because she loved the turtles but then Mike went over and opened the door after getting a nod from the security man that was keeping watch of the door. Erica quickly became confused but also nervous because this reminded her of one of her ‘visions’
“Mike, what are you doing?” Erica whispered
“Going to see the turtles, are you coming or not?” He had a smug grin on his face now
“Yeah of course I’m coming” She took his hand that he had put out for her and walked into the room with him.
As soon as they walked in Erica was smiling from ear to ear. There was a picnic blanket on the floor with a hamper of food. There were slushies and a couple of other things. Some fairy lights had been placed around the room and it was so romantic.
“Mike” Erica whispered she was speechless; she literally had no idea what to say. “This is beautiful” She finally got out.
“I’m glad you like it, now come, eat” He motioned for her to join him on the picnic blanket which she did.
They ate lunch and spoke for about an hour. Erica had given him Mike his present earlier on; it was a limited edition, signed, Travis Barker, framed photo. He loved it. Mike had given her a necklace that had her birthstone on it, she too loved her gift. They always gave the best presents.
Mike text someone and put his phone back in his pocket before he asked Erica to get up and look at the turtles with him. She did and they stood side by side, in silence just watching them swim around. One or two of them came over to the glass and Erica took a few photos. Suddenly Erica noticed a few bodies swimming about in the tank and she had a feeling she knew what was coming next.
She carried on watching the four bodies as they swam right up to the glass in front of her, she could tell that it was Jaime, Vic, Casey and Tony and she had a huge smile on her face, she could see the smile in Jaime’s eyes, he could tell exactly what she was thinking and her him.
Jaime pulled out a white board and marker and wrote something down before flipping it over so Erica could read it.
WILL is what it read. Vic, Casey and Tony followed his actions, each of their boards reading
YOU MARRY HIMWhen Tony flipped his board over, Erica had a grin so wide and a tear in her eye, he pointed in the direction of the picnic blanket and Erica turned around to see Mike on one knee with a ring box in his hand. He lifted the lid and began to speak
“Man, I am so in love with you and I have completely forgotten everything I wanted to say right now but I have been in love with you since we met and I knew that one day I would get to ask you this. I know you have always been against marriage but you and Jaime really need to stop having serious conversations when I’m in ear shot. Well actually don’t stop because I mean, I found out that you finally thought this might be a good idea. So what I’m trying to say is Erica Simmons will please marry me?”
Erica nodded before managing to say yes. Mike stood up and placed the ring, which was so beautiful, on her finger. They looked over to the boys in the tank and Erica held up her hand and they clapped. Casey pointed to the surface as if to say meet us up there.
When the boys swam away Erica and Mike shared a very passionate kiss. They picked up their belongings and headed up stairs to meet the guys. Jaime was on the phone talking when the pair came in to the room
“Dude she said yes” Erica was curious as to who he was telling “Okay, see you later buddy” He hung up the phone and pulled Erica off of Vic to give her a big squeeze
“GROUP HUG” Everyone shouted at the same time, causing laughs to escape everyone. They hugged for a while and when they parted Erica questioned Jaime
“Who was on the phone?”
“Chad and Zeke, they knew about it and we said we’d tell them the results. I hope you don’t mind”
“Of course not silly” Mike was talking to Casey and Vic when Tony decided he wanted to get a picture of Erica and Mike.
They took their photo and the six of them headed out of the aquarium splitting taxis and going back to the Warped buses. They were playing the same venue tomorrow as they played yesterday so it made things a lot easier.
When they got back to the bus Chad and Zeke jumped on Erica immediately; giving her hugs and kisses to say congratulations. They shared a bro hug with Mike too.
“Aw, congratulations you guys.” Chad said again
“We need to drinks to celebrate. Wait the Of Mice guys are having a barbeque party tonight we should go but first shots” Zeke was so excited he began to ramble while pouring everyone Tequila shot or 4.
Erica posted the picture of her and Mike, that Tony took, to Instagram with the caption

She didn’t include the fact that she had just got engaged, she thought she’d leave it for a few hours. She wanted to tell her family and friends first. Mike had already called his mum and dad; they were elated with the news, they already loved Erica as if she was their own and soon she really would be a part of the family.
She was currently sat on Mike’s lap taking yet another shot when she realised something
“Jaime, did you tell Mike about the aquarium proposal idea? You were the only person I ever told that too”
“I didn’t tell him” Jaime was telling the truth
“So how did you know about it?” She said diverting her attention to the man whose lap she was sat on.
“I overheard you talking to Jaime about it the day that he asked for help with his proposal to Jess” He smiled
“And you remembered it all this time?” Her smile grew and was almost matching Mike’s
“Well it was important, I knew I would need to do that someday so I made a mental note of it” Erica cupped Mike’s face in her hands and kissed him, hard. When she pulled away she looked over to Jaime again
“Hey, we really need to start having our conversations in more private places, this dude listens to everything” She joked about the point that Mike had bought up earlier.
When it got to about 7pm, Erica had told her family about the engagement who, like Mike’s were thrilled with the news and was just redoing her hair ready for the Of Mice and Men party which it turned out, everyone was going to.
“I want to tell everyone when we get there” Mike said, he wanted to tell as many people as he could because he finally got Erica to say yes.
“Okay” Erica was totally fine with the idea “Once you tell them, I might put a picture of my ring on Instagram, I’d rather they hear it from us and not someone else because I’m sure it will get around pretty quick” Sometimes she hated that they could never have private things because of their fans but this was something she was willing to shout from the rooftops so didn’t mind sharing.
“Sounds like a good idea” He bought their interlocked hands up between them and kissed hers.
When they got to the party most people were already a little tipsy, it was outside the bus because of how many people had turned up. They went off and mingled for a bit and after Mike had finished his burger he decided he would make a toast; this was normal, many people had been making toasts about random stuff all night. Most of them were about how great the tour had been going and how cool it is it to see and play alongside friends.
“Guys, I have something to say” Mike shouted, he was now stood on a table towering over everyone. He did that naturally because of his height, Erica was sure that as he held his cup in the air he touched the stars in the night sky.
“I just wanted to let you all know that I am now an engaged man.” He was slightly drunk so his toast wasn’t the greatest but it got the point across “Erica and I got engaged earlier today and yeah so to love” He joked and held his cup up again as there was a chorus of ‘to love’ followed by everyone taking a drink of their beverages.
When he managed to get off the table he kissed Erica again then they were both greeted by many friends and people whom they did not know congratulating them.
While Mike was giving his speech Erica had stitched a few pictures together and put them on Instagram and let everyone know that she would be the future Mrs Fuentes
You’ll probably find this out sooner or later so I wanted to tell you myself. Mike and I are officially engaged and I am the happiest person alive. Until the end of time @ptvmike
That was under 5 minutes ago and it already had a ridiculous amount of likes and comments. Erica loved reading through them; most were congratulatory and sweet but there was the odd negative comment which she just laughed at.
“You know, I will only actually marry you on one condition” Erica began as she sat between Mike’s legs and leaned back so she could look up, his eyes made the connection with hers
“And what might that be?” He asked intrigued
“That we have a Disneyland wedding. Like we get married right in the middle of the park” She was being completely serious
“I am totally down for that” Mike kissed her forehead and they both sat properly again
“Good.” Erica said. They were joined by Casey, Jaime, Austin Carlile and Travis Clark, they socialised with them and just before the party was over, they went back to their bus and had a two person party of their own. It was their way to congratulate eachother on the engagement before the rest of their gang got back to the bus.
They went to bed very, very happy that night.

I wasn't going to put a huge time jump here because I have one planned a little later on, it will be another year long jump, but I didn't know what to write about, I didn't want to do the whole pregnancy thing with Jess so I just skipped it out and went straight for where I was going anyway.
