Until The End Of Time
Chapter Forty
Pierce the Veil and Anonymous… had been on their road trip home for 3 days. They were currently in Arizona and today would be visiting the Grand Canyon. This is somewhere that Erica has always wanted to visit so she was totally stoked.
They were going out for breakfast before heading over to the historic attraction. Their bus driver Howard had spotted a nice looking café so found somewhere to park up and they all got out and headed for it. Once there they got a booth and looked over the menu.
Everyone ordered their usual, which in all included pancakes, bacon, hash browns, coffee and toast; everyone except Jess that is. Jess hadn’t been feeling very well for the last couple of days and this morning was no exception. She ordered a couple of slices of toast and a coffee, instead of the chocolate chip pancakes she would normally eat. She didn’t think much of it because she has a sensitive immune system and comes down with colds and bugs quite often.
Breakfast was over and the group were fully stuffed and ready to visit the Grand Canyon.
When they got there, they were all in awe at how beautiful it was. They took many pictures and after bursting out in amazement they all just sat there, looking over the gaping hole in the earth. There really was no need for words as there weren’t really any that could describe the awe inspiring view.
They stayed there for about an hour and half before deciding they should get on the road again. They would be home by about 8/9pm that night, if they made no stops. They didn’t really need to stop; they had food and a toilet on the bus.
The rest of the journey home was like any normal bus drive for them lot; a load of XBOX was played, many drinks were drunk, a few of them took naps but most of the time was spent with everyone doing their own thing. That was until the last 2 hour stretch of the journey when Jaime decided to put Anchor Man on. Erica fell asleep on Mike’s shoulder so when they turned up at Vic’s house, Mike had to carry her in before coming out and getting both of their suitcases.
Instead of going back to their own place, Mike and Erica stayed in Mike’s old room. Everyone else went to their own places. Mike and Vic shared a beer before they both went to bed. Everyone passed out as soon as their heads hit their pillows; they were all out of energy since their road trip surprisingly tired them all out.
-2 DAYS LATER-
“Erica, I bought you lunch” Jess called out as she entered Think Ink. Erica was back at work for today because there was an important customer that only wanted to be tattooed by Erica.
“You are a legend” She said as she looked up from the customer’s back to Jess’ face. “You look so good today girl” She complimented.
“No, I don’t feel so good though” Erica’s customer didn’t mind the personal conversation since he was currently on the phone.
“Still feeling sick?” Erica asked.
“Yeah and I get all dizzy and everything” She took a sip of her coffee and sat on the seat just behind Erica’s station.
“You do look a bit glowing” Erica said in a sarcastic tone
“Oh shut up, I am not pregnant” Jess said but looked away, thinking that it might just be that.
“Are we still going out for dinner?” Erica asked pulling Jess away from her line of thought.
“Yeah of course, just us girls” They hadn’t done anything with Mal since they got back so the three of them were going out tonight.
They couldn’t decide where to actually go for dinner so Mal decided that Jess and Erica should just come over to hers and they would order take out and swap some gossip.
Erica informed Mal about how she thought Jess might be pregnant.
“Actually, you do have the ‘pregnant glow’ that my sister had when she first conceived” Mal informed.
“I was working out dates and things, and you might be right. I should have got my period two days ago but I thought it was just where I’ve been ill this past week. But now it makes sense that that could be why I’m ill.” Jess admitted feeling embarrassed that the girls knew better than she did.
“Well you should take a test just to make sure” Mal encouraged.
“Yeah of course, we can go get one or two after dinner?” The girls nodded in agreement while they finished their curries.
When they came back from the grocery store with a few tubs of ice cream and two pregnancy tests, they headed straight to the bathroom.
“I can do this bit alone” Jess said as she shut the door and peed. When Erica and Mal heard the toilet flush they barged into the bathroom and waited with Jess. She was nervous.
“What does it say?” Erica asked.
“I’m scared to look” Jess replied “You do it” She said nodding to the girls.
Mal picked it up and a smile swept across her face
“Well?” Jess urged
“You have a baby growing inside of you”
“What omg, you’re pregnant” Erica called out
“Let me look” Jess took the test out of Mal’s hand and looked it over “Ohmygod I’m having a baby”
“You’ve got to tell Jaime” Mal said slowly
“I know, do you think he’ll be happy about it?” She became nervous again
“Of course, you know how much he wants children” Erica assured with a warm smile.
The girls made their way back downstairs and opened their tubs of ice cream. “Yeah you’re right. I’ll tell him tomorrow when we’re all at the bbq” Jess said as Mal put on another chick flick. When the film was over the girls said their goodbyes and left, just as Casey got home.
“You didn’t ruin my man tonight did you?” Erica asked jokingly.
“Not at all” Casey replied.
“Good” Erica smiled and got in her car before pulling out of the drive way.
The next day was BBQ day. These people always seem to be having BBQs, it’s like they don’t know how to socialise unless there is a party or food on a grill. Everyone turned up at Vic’s place around the same time so there was no need to wait for anyone.
Enough food had been made for everyone to have something on their plate; Jess felt like now was a better time than any to reveal her news. At first she thought that she should tell Jaime on his own but then she thought, everyone is family might as well tell them all at the same time. She just hoped that Jaime would be happy and not flip a shit in front of everyone.
“Okay guys, I want to say something” Jess called, trying to speak above all the noise of various conversations.
“What is it?” Vic asked. Jess stood up and looked around the table, her eyes met with those of her husband and a huge smile grew on her face.
“Erm, well last night with the girls, we found something out.” She said with the smile not falling
“What is it?” Jaime urged this time
“I’m pregnant” She said nervously but with a huge load of excitement.
“What, are you serious?” Jaime jumped up his face was going to break with how big his smile was
“Yes. That’s why I was ill the other week, not because of my rubbish immune system but because we’re going to have a kid” Jess enthused.
“OHMYGOD! I’m going to be a dad” Jaime smile wider, didn’t think it was possible but he did. He hugged Jess and everyone gave their congratulations before sharing hugs with the couple.
The rest of the evening was spent in high spirits, with a lot of drinkable spirits, Jess wasn’t drinking those though. Well, all were in high spirits except Erica. She had a bit of a down moment. When everyone moved inside because it got a bit chilly, Erica decided to stay outside for a bit. When Jaime came outside to get his phone that he left on the table, he noticed that his best friend was a little sad.
“Hey Pumpkin, what’s wrong?” He asked as he joined her on the deck that overlooked the rest of San Diego.
“Nothing, just thinking” She lied
“E, I know you better than anyone so tell me what’s bothering you?” He made her look at him
“It’s just” She paused trying to work out how to word her problem “I saw the way your face lit up when Jess told you the news and how big your smile was and at first I was so happy for you but then I got sad because I’ll never be able to see Mike make that face. I will never be able to tell Mike that I’m carrying his child. And I know neither of us want kids but what if we change our mind and because of my issue, I won’t be able to give him what he wants. What he wants a kid and because I can’t give him one, he leaves me?” She had a silent tear roll down her cheek which Jaime wiped away before pulling her into a hug. This situation slightly reminded him of the time Erica got mad at Mike over the Leon problem.
“Mike will never leave you, never. You know that. You could probably cut his leg off and he’ll still want to be with you. If you guys ever change your mind about children you know there are other options. Like adoption or something. You guys will work it out, but how about we wait until you get to that bridge, yeah? And as for making him smile like a mad man, you already do that. You haven’t seen him when someone mentions your name when you aren’t around. He loves you a ridiculous amount and nothing will change that. Not now, not ever” He hugged again and she looked up at him with endearing eyes. She kissed him on the cheek.
“Thank you. You’re literally the best friend ever” She hugged him once more “Thanks” Jaime said. They both got up and walked back in doors. As soon as they walked in, Erica noticed that Mike was walking upstairs, with his head down. She followed him. When she got into Mike’s old room, she saw him sat on the middle of the bed with a bottle of whiskey.
“Hey you” Erica said trying to hide the fact that she had been crying only moments beforehand.
“Hey” Mike barely looked up. Erica went and sat in front of him, mirroring his Indian Style sitting on the bed.
“Why are you up here, all alone?” She asked curiously
“I’m not alone, you’re with me” Mike joked
“You know what I mean, silly” She giggled a little
“I just heard what you and Jaime were talking about and it made me sad to think that you thought I could ever leave you. I would never leave you, ever; Especially over not being able to give me a child, because that’s not your fault. Like Jaime said, there are other ways to get a child and we can think about that when we, if we ever, change our minds. But right now I just want to be happy with you and not worry about the future. I love you too much to ever think about leaving you. Okay?” Mike was wiping away Erica’s tears as she wiped away his.
“I love you, so fucking much it hurts” Erica whispered “Until the end of time” She was smiling again
“I love you too. Until the end of time” They did their pinky promise kiss and then kissed each other passionately. Then they hugged each other and didn’t want to leave one another’s embrace.
In general, it was a good night and nobody wanted to leave. They never do want to leave eachother, sometimes they joke that they should all put some money in a pot and buy a mansion or something so they can all live together but have enough space so they can have alone time too. It wasn’t their worst idea; once Casey thought it was a good idea to try and by an island, he looked into it and everything. He decided against it not long after all his research ‘Too much hassle’ was his reason for giving up on the idea.

I hope you guys like this. Sorry I haven't been uploading much the last couple of days, it's my sisters Engagement party tonight so we're all rushed off our feet but I made sure to make time to update this one.My other story will be updated by Tuesday at the latest.
