Until The End Of Time

Chapter Thirty-Six

The time has come to make Jess a Preciado. The girls stayed over at Erica’s last night and were now on their way to the church. The boys stayed at Jaime and Jess’ after a wild bachelor party. Luckily everyone was present and accounted for, no missing groom or best man. The men weren’t going to the venue for another couple of hours so decided to go out for breakfast to the closest diner.

“Dude, imagine tomorrow though, you’re going to be a fucking husband” Mike said.

“I know man, I can’t wait” Jaime replied. They all were feeling the effects of last night’s partying but getting some food and coffee in their systems will help with that. Jaime, despite how his head felt, could not scratch the smile off his face. It was going to be there for a long time to come.

The boys’ waitress came over to take their order and started to flirt with Jaime. The six of them just laughed at her, the fifth and sixth people being Casey and Jaime’s brother.

“Sorry to burst your bubble lady but he’s getting married in a couple of hours” Casey teased the woman huffed and walked away. When their breakfast arrived they were greeted with a new waitress.

“Aw, what happened to the other girl” Mike joked

“You guys embarrassed her so she asked to swap” She told them honestly. “I hear one of you is getting married though, congratulations” She said.

“Thank you” Jaime replied taking a bite out of one of the pancakes he stacked on his plate.

“You’re welcome, if there’s anything else you gentlemen need just call me over” She smiled sweetly and walked away. She was much nicer than the other waitress and the guys were glad she swapped.

“Guys, what if he doesn’t like the dress?” Jess fretted as she sat in her gown getting her hair done.

“Don’t be silly J, he’s going to love it. You know he is and hell if Tony thought he wouldn’t he would have told you when you showed it to him” Mal reassured.

“Hmm, I guess” It was just pre-wedding jitters, everyone got them.

“You are going to look beautiful; Erica and I are going to look fabulous, but not too fabulous that we show you up. The boys will be looking mighty fine and everything is going to go as planned” Mal comforted once more.

“She’s right you know, it’s just nerves; that’s normal considering you’re about to tie the knot with the one man you’re going to spend the rest of your life with. Here take this” Erica said as she passed Jess another glass of champagne.

“Thank you girls, I don’t know what I’d do without you” Jess said, her hair was now done and it was time for Erica’s to be put up.

Once all the hair and make-up had been done and food had been eaten the dresses were bought out.

“Girls, its time” Jess said and they each put their gowns on. Mal and Erica helped with the final touches of Jess’ dress and made sure all was well, it was.

“I told you, you’d look beautiful” Mal said before asking the wedding photographer to snap a photo of the three of them and the few other girls that Jess had asked to be bridesmaid.

The guests had been arriving for the last half an hour and the boys had made their way to their designated room in the church.

“Dude, stop shaking your leg, it’s gonna be fine” Tony reassured Jaime who was now the one with pre-wedding jitters. He was reading over the vows that he had written to make sure they were immaculate; he made a few adjustments and was finally happy with them.

“I’m getting nervous” He said and downed half a bottle of water.

“There’s no need to be” Vic came over to help calm him down.

“You’re right, I mean she wouldn’t have said yes to this if she didn’t want to marry me right?”

“Right” Vic, Tony, Mike and Casey said in unison.

“Boys, it’s show time” Jaime’s brother said. The group of men all dressed in handsome tuxes got up and headed for their places in front of the guests at the church. On his way to the front Jaime said hello to a few people.

The church was packed with family, friends, friends from other bands, friends from his childhood. His mother gave him a big kiss on the cheek and his father gave him a firm handshake and a manly hug before Jaime took his place, with his band member by his side.
Before he had a chance to get nervous again, the wedding march started to play and all in attendance stood and faced the big wooden doors at the back of the church.

“This is it” Jaime whispered to Tony.

“This is it” Jess whispered to Mal and Erica who both smiled and nodded.

Each bridesmaid made their way down the aisle before Jess finally came through with her arms linked with her father. She looked absolutely stunning. He dress hugged her figure perfectly, her hair complemented her facial features impeccably and she walked with such grace and style. When she finally looked ahead Jaime eyes were already awaiting her gaze. She got lost in his eyes immediately and the smile on her face grew wider, she didn’t think that would even be possible. She reached the front and her father kissed her on the cheek before handing her over to Jaime.

The service was sweet and wasn’t too long. There were some laughs due to the vows and tears. It was precious.

Tony handed Jaime the ring and he placed it on Jess’ finger.

Before too long “I now pronounce you man and wife” was said and cheers and claps echoed around the church. They were now married and in that moment neither of them had ever been happier.

The reception was just like any other wedding reception, funny speeches, booze, cake, dad dancing and best friends. Many pictures were taken and nobody could wait to see them. Jess and Jaime had decided that once they had received all the photos they would make a scrapbook for each of the members in their wedding parties as a gift to say thank you.

Jaime and Jess hadn’t booked a honeymoon yet because tour dates and work was in the way but Mike and Erica didn’t care about that, their present to the two of them, which they forced them to open over dinner, was a honeymoon to Fiji. It was for two weeks and they would return home just before Jaime was set to go on tour in Canada. They didn’t know what to say so said thank you a billion times and shared long hugs with the other couple. That was by far the best present and they hadn’t even opened the others yet.

The first dance was glorious; Jaime and Erica had secretly taken lessons because Jaime didn’t want to be embarrassed on his big day. Because of this Mike took it upon himself to ask his girlfriend to dance.

“Now I know you took lessons, you can’t ever get out of dancing with me” He joked thinking back to Huw and Aubrey’s wedding, at which Erica had got pretty drunk before even considering a dance.

“Well, I like dancing now so you’re in luck” She poked her tongue out and joined the bride and groom on the dance floor when it was appropriate to. Erica had got really good at dancing too. Mike loved being in that moment with Erica, being that close and just looking in each other’s eyes. Holding onto each other and moving around the floor without a care in the world. He couldn’t help but let his mind wonder and think about what it would be like if this was their first dance. If Erica ever changed her mind about getting married, what sort of dress would she wear? What venue would they hold it at? Who would be her chief bridesmaid? Vic would obviously be his best man and who would be the flower girl or the page boy? He thought about it and a smile grew on his face.

“Penny for your thoughts” Erica said as she noticed the newly formed smile on her partners face.

“You, us, our future” He replied and kissed her on the nose.

“What do you think about, when you think about our future?” She was interested. She always thinks about their future and was curious to see if his thoughts differed from hers.

“I was just thinking what it would be like if we ever did get married, all the little details though like where it would be held, what sort of colour theme, what sort of dress. Those sorts of things” They held hands and walked back to their table since the song had finished and when they sat down Erica just smiled. She didn’t say anything in response to Mike’s confession but smiled.

As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she had been thinking about things like that a lot lately. Since the promise ring and helping Jess and Jaime out with their wedding Erica no longer thought it was a terrible idea. She still didn’t want to get married, not for definite anyway but she was now more open to the idea. She wasn’t going to say anything though because she wanted to just enjoy what she had now without complicating it by thinking about the future too much. Erica was very much a live-in-the-now kind of person.

The reception ended and all guests had either left or made their way to their room. The reception was being held at an old country type house; it was beautiful and had many rooms. Most guests were going to stay but some had to leave because of work or children and things like that.

The honeymoon to Fiji wasn’t for another three days so the newlyweds didn’t have to rush off anywhere and leave everyone; which they were thankful for because they loved spending time with their friends and family, they loved sharing this rite of passage with them.

“Today has been perfect Mr Preciado” Jess slurred through a tipsy mouth as they reached their room.

“It really has Mrs Preciado” Jaime smiled when he said that “Gosh, I will never tire of saying that” He kissed his wife passionately before lifting her bridal style and walking into their room.
