Chapter Thirty-Four
-Day 2 in San Diego-
“Hey I’m on my way. I managed to sneak out without anyone suspecting anything. I’ll be about 20 minutes”
“Okay, see you soon” Erica replied and hung up the phone. She was playing the final song to be mixed in the control room as she sat with Chad and Zeke. The closer they get to releasing this album the more excited the threesome become.
20 minutes passed by easily and the guest vocalist finally turned up, with coffee which the band was very appreciative of.
“Thanks pumpkin” Erica said as she pulled Jaime into a hug. “Man I am so stoked for this” He gushed as he listened to what the band had prepared so far.
Jaime went into the booth and did his vocals; it only took a few takes before he perfected it. It was going to be a chilled song but still quite upbeat. It was fun.
“Jaime, omg this is going to be so fucking amazing!” Chad said as he pulled Jaime into a bro hug. “Dude, I can’t wait for everyone to hear this record. You guys are going to be huge; maybe one day we’ll be opening for you” He joked but had a serious tone at the same time.
“More like the other way round but we’ll accept it either way” Zeke added.
They spent the next couple of hours mixing and editing the record. Since Jaime produces things as well it was great to have another perspective on the process. As soon as they became happy with what they had done Erica’s phone rang.
“Hey sweetie” She said into the phone to Mike. “Yeah, I just need to pop to our place and change then I’ll meet you at Vic’s” She was so happy that they were going to be moving in together. Tonight they were going out for an early dinner with everyone and they would move his things in when they get home from tour, which is in a few weeks.
“Finally” Mike and Vic shouted as Erica walked through the door. “What took you so long?” Vic asked.
“I had to come from the studio and get changed. I was working with a band and we ran over editing some songs, sorry” She responded as she gave them each a kiss on the cheek and a hug. “Now are you guys ready or do I have to wait on you?” This was usually the case, they would moan that one of them would take forever, then when that person is ready nobody else was. It was a never ending cycle with this lot.
“I just have to grab my keys and we can go” Vic said. Jaime, Tony, Casey, Jess and Mal were all there too. Jaime managed to get there before Erica since he didn’t need to change or anything, so he went straight there from the studio. Erica can’t wait to share her most recent project with those closest to her. She feels it’s one of the best things she’s ever done and Jaime agreed with her on that.
They got to the restaurant and ordered their food and drinks. It was a chilled evening spent talking about how the tour was going.
“Dude, there was this one kid and he was so rad. He had got like our faces tattooed on his arm, like holy fuck that’s insane” Tony said. He was humbled by it but found it really weird at the same time. “He was a pretty cool but getting our faces is a bit weird” Vic added. They all agreed.
They spoke about Vic finally getting laid since being on tour. Mike actually raised a toast to that one. “About fucking time” Erica said as everyone took a sip from their drinks. “Maybe now you won’t be so moody” She joked playfully nudging him in the side.
“Erica’s made some new friends while you guys have been away, I’m scared she’s going to leave us all” Jess blurted out. She had met the twins and adored them, everyone does and she knew Erica didn’t really mind her saying anything though since she had pictures with them on her instagram and twitter but since Jess was getting tipsy she was worried she would slip up about them being in a band and ruin the surprise. Jaime managed to get her to not spill the beans.
“Yeah I saw the twins in that photo you posted. They actually seem really chill” Casey said. Casey was always quick to make friends, he pretty much got on with everyone and everyone pretty much got on with him. There isn’t much to not like about Casey to be honest.
“They are, I met them at the shop one day and they were really cool and we became friends. I needed more friends too so it’s worked out pretty sweet” She said honestly. “Which reminds me, I might be looking in to buying Think Ink” Her smile grew.
“What? Omg E, that’s great” Mike said. “Yeah, Damien might be moving away and as much as he wants to keep the shop he thinks it’ll be too much to handle and I told him that if he does decide to move away, I would gladly take over and buy the place from him.” That passionate look was in her eyes again.
“Well here’s to maybe becoming your own boss girl” Jaime screeched and held his glass up signalling a toast, everybody joined in.
The rest of the night continued in the same manner and the band were soon making their way back to their bus. Erica, Jess and Mal had said their goodbyes and were going back to Erica’s for a girly sleep over. But since they had drunk so much between them it would be walking into the apartment, stripping and all jumping in to Erica’s bed.
-TWO DAYS LATER-
“OMG Jess, that’s it. That’s your wedding dress” Erica assured. Jess, Mal and Erica were at a bridal shop trying on dresses. Erica and Mal were going to be bridesmaids and the colour theme was baby blue and white. The bridesmaids dresses had been picked out a few weeks ago and the girls were getting them fitted today.
“I think so too. Okay this is my dress” Jess was beginning to tear up at how happy she was.
The girls clinked their champagne glasses together and all hugged, careful to not spill their beverages. The three of them had been planning Jess and Jaime’s wedding while he was away. He was involved as much as possible, via Skype and phone calls. It was working though; and everything was coming along nicely. They would be married by the end of the year.
They looked through the wedding book to see what else they had left to plan; so far they had sorted out the venue and catering, the dresses and bridal party/groomsmen. Jaime had his tux and he was going to look so handsome in it. Invitations had been sent out a while ago, when they sorted out a date and venue. They were pretty much done; just a few finishing touches and all that would be left would be to wait for the day itself.
