Until The End Of Time
Chapter Thirty-One
“From the top” Erica shouts through to the thin but muscular guy playing drums in the other room of the studio. Erica bought herself a new studio not long after she moved out here but hadn’t spent much time there since she’s been focusing on her tattooing more.
Right now, while the boys were on tour, Erica was recording an album with her new band. Yes her band. She met up with a set of twins that play guitar and drums. Erica will be singing and playing bass. They meshed really well the first time they jammed together a while back. Erica has never stopped writing songs and music in general and she was finally inspired enough to record a second album; this time with an actual band.
“That’s perfect Chad” She called through again to the drummer. He exited the booth and joined his brother and their front woman in the control room.
“We just have to track the last vocals for one song and we are done” Zeke, the guitarists enthused. They were all so excited about this project. They felt the songs were really good and that even if they didn’t get far on the album, they were proud to say that they tried and had fun in the process.
Erica had already spoken to her father and the band signed with his label and once they’re finished recording he will be looking at getting them promoted and on a tour as soon as possible. That’s one thing Huw is good at; get a new band on a tour asap, even if it’s a small support role for a small band, the quicker they get their name and music out there, the quicker their following will grow.
The band was a pop-punk band and they were inspired by bands such as Blink-182, The Wonder Years, New Found Glory and other bands like that. Erica’s lyrics are very personal and each song tells its own story. The one song that they needed vocals for couldn’t be finished until a friend of theirs returned from his trip away but he’ll be home in a few weeks for a day or two. Erica asked this guy to be on the album as soon as she conceived the decision to start a band and make one, he delightfully accepted. Erica has always loved his voice and thinks he would be a perfect fit for one of the slower songs on the record.
“Hey Jaime I need to ask you something” Mike said as he pulled Jaime’s curtain across on his bunk.
“Sure man, what is it?” Mike ran his hands through his hair, he didn’t really know how to go about this situation just yet; it was quite new to him.
“So you’re Erica’s best friend and I wanted your advice since I know you guys talk about everything” He started, Jaime nodded and encouraged Mike to continue. They were currently the only two on the bus which is why Mike was asking this now.
“Well, our one year is come up and I know she doesn’t want to get married or have children or anything like that but I want her to know that I want to be with her forever, you know? And I know this sounds so cheesy and soppy or whatever but do you think, like, a uhm, promise ring would be a good idea?” He sighed before continuing, he hadn’t yet looked at Jaime. “It’s like being officially together forever without being engaged, is that stupid?” He finally looked up to Jaime who had the cheesiest smile on his face.
“I think it’s an amazing idea. She would love that. You really do love her don’t you?” Jaime responded. Mike and Erica were probably his favourite couple ever.
“Like we always say, until the end of time” He chuckled a little. “Thanks man” He shook Jaime’s hand and went to the back lounge to play some X-BOX.
In 2 weeks-time he would be asking Erica to be his forever without the whole marriage thing. He was nervous that she would think it’s rushed or a rubbish idea but he liked it. He was such a romantic when he wanted to be. Erica had already got Mike’s presents planned. She only hopes that he won’t think one of them is too soon to be giving him but they’ll both see how the other one reacts when Warped Tour hits San Diego in a fortnight.
