Chapter Twenty-Eight
The tour had just finished and in two weeks Erica turns 24. While on the tour she became such good friends with everyone and she could tell that they were all planning something but none of them would let on to what it was exactly. Erica hates surprises, which is funny considering she’s always surprising people.
Mike was on the phone to someone when Erica entered his house with Jaime. As soon as Mike caught site of Erica he went out into the garden.
“Who’s Mike on the phone to?” She asked Vic as she sat on a stool at the kitchen table.
“I’m not allowed to tell you” Vic replied with a devilish grin.
“What are you guys up to?” She whined but Vic’s grin never left his face and he never slip of who was on the other end of Mike’s phone.
“You don’t like it when you’re the one being surprised, do you?” Mike teased as he walked back in with a grin on his face that matched his older brothers.
“No I don’t” She put out her bottom lip and Mike came over and took it between his teeth teasing her further.
“Ow, you little shit, that hurt” She said sucking her bottom lip back in.
It was now 8 at night and the boys along with Erica were watching movies in the living area. “Can we watch The Emperor’s New Groove, please” Erica asked elongating the ‘e’ sound in please.
“Yes! I love that movie” Jaime shouted and jumped up to put the DVD in the player.They spent the rest of the night like this. Hell this is how they spent most of their time.
-TWO WEEKS LATER-
“Wakey wakey, eggs and bacey” Mike was bouncing on Erica’s bed. “Get up lazy bum, I made breakfast” At the mention of food Erica shot up. Mike had help her overcome her minor relapse and she was back to the girl that loved food more than anything, which made Mike more than happy.
“Ooh pancakes how original” Erica joked as she jumped up on the kitchen island, Mike following suit.
“You know you love it” Of course she did.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, and happy birthday dear smelly bum happy birthday to you” Mike sang to her as he added fruit and vegetarian bacon to Erica’s plate.
“I like when you serenade me” She giggled and kissed him on the lips before offering him a piece of her bacon, which he happily bit into.
“PRESENTS” Mike screamed and got off the counter to pick up a medium sized gift bag from the floor. “I think you’ll like these” He said with excitement.
Erica opened the bag and moved the tissue paper out of the way to pull out the first present; a load of pairs of Huff socks in a variety of colours. She giggled because she kept stealing Mike’s since she lost her pair a couple of months ago. “Now you can stop wearing mine you thief” He mocked, it was as if he read her mind.
She then pulled out the second gift. It was a notebook and on the front was a picture of the two of them. It was Erica’s favourite picture of the couple, taken at her father’s wedding. The picture was surrounded by the words “100 REASONS WHY I LOVE YOU” which made her giggle again. She began to flip through the book reading aloud the reasons that Mike had put in there, along with a selection of pictures of the two.
“Number 43: The way you sound like a hyena when you laugh but sometimes it turns into a snort” She grinned at Mike who reciprocated. “It’s cute” He said and placed a kiss on the tip of Erica’s nose.
She continued to read them aloud and when got to the last page she grinned even more. It was two pages of pictures from the first couple of days they spent together with the words “UNTIL THE END OF TIME - LOVE M” written on it.
“I swear you read my mind when making this” She said to Mike who now had a confused look on his face.
“Why?” Erica closed the book and scooted closer to Mike. “Because I started a book like this for our anniversary” She looked into his eyes and they grew smaller where his smile had grown so big. “And the last page of my book says the exact same thing” Mike pulled her into a passionate kiss. They sat on the counter eating the rest of their breakfast and laughing at the pictures in the book. Erica could tell that this will be a birthday to remember.
“Do I get to know what you have planned for later yet?” She was so interested in what the guys have been planning over the last couple of weeks. “Not until later, we’re going out for an early dinner and then you get to know” He kissed her again and jumped off the island, his hands still in Erica’s so she could jump off the side too.
“No fair” She huffed before going to the bathroom for a shower.
