Chapter 18
Vic's POV
"Who was that?" Iris questions the phone call as she sits on the couch. Her hair was wet and longer then normal, it was dripping on the leather sofa leaving water droplets. I swore in that moment when I saw her walking down the stairs she was the most beautiful women I have ever seen.
"The guys." I say avoiding her eye contact, I was never the best lier.
"Where will we see them?"
"San Diego when we go back tomorrow."
I was all set up to go to Florida, I rented a cabin up in the woods by a lake. All I have to do is talk to Iris's psychologist.
"Oh iris, you have to go to the psychologist this afternoon."
"Alright, do you got any fun plans for tonight?" She schoochs closer to me on the couch.
"Chinese food? I want to do something fun tonight!" I kiss her on her head.
"Bowling!?" She asks while she raises her eyebrows in excitement.
"Sure! Whatever you want! Are you good at bowling?" I question her.
"Nope!" She laughs, I can't help but to laugh with her, "I was always horrible at it, but it is really fun!" She gives a huge smirk.
"Vic, on a serious note, do you remember me?" I give Iris a look a worried and scared look."Mike and I used to go to school with each other, until the six grade. I used to go to all of Mikes birthday parties. I had always had a crush on you. I was a year younger then my whole grade." Iris walks over her file cabinet to get something and I follow closely behind, almost stepping on the back of her heels. She takes out a box from a drawer. She takes out all the photos and shows me one of Mikes schools class pictures. She points out to this short little chubby girl in the front row with glasses.
"That was me. God I was such a stupid kid." She says under her breath.
"That's you?! Aww you where so cute! And look at Mike, he was a weird kid. Why did you never tell me this?"
"Well I was always embarrassed about myself and what if you did remember me. I never had a great self esteem. I was bullied as a child which did some damage to me psychologically. Mike was actually always really nice to me."
"Why where you in the same class as him up till the sixth grade and why not after?"
"I got homeschooled, I could not take it anymore."
"I don't think I remember you. But I remember a girl who was shy and never talked to anyone, she always had a sad face, like she was disappointed." I say giving her a remorseful look.
"Well that's me, I always sat at the back of the room, wanting to die..." She stuttered her words.
"I was with your band from the beginning , the music was a way to cope with all the hurt. I went through a serious anorexic stage. I had to go to the hospital almost every week, because I got so weak. One day in the winter when I was 15 I attempted suicide."
My jaw dropped when she said the last five words.

"I was in the hospital for a long time, almost a full year of being in and out. I am not really sure if the homeschooling helped any, my dad would always act the same towards me. What ever I did he was never impressed. That is when I realized I wanted to help others, to help them feel like they are important, and wanted. In that point in my life I had no one, I never talked to anyone about how I felt. I also learned more about being a friend when I felt alone." Iris took a minute to breath,
"So that's why you never came back to school, being in the hospital and homeschooling?"
I asked rubbing iris's back trying to be as considerate as possible.
"Yes after I finished high school, I went straight to university, with several scholarships. But my dad still wanting more from me."
"Just know, I am here for you and I know Mike will be too." I wonder if he knows.
"I hope he does not remember me like that." Her eyes widening, thinking all of the unknown.
"Iris, it does not matter if he does or not, you are a new person. A better person. With age we become better people." I say holding her chin up, searching her ice blue eyes for more information.
