When You Can't Sleep at Night
4
When we got back to the band house, we were met with an awkward silence as the guys watched a movie that I knew they all hated. Why are they even trying anymore? It's pretty obvious that they all hate each other...
I sighed as I walked through the house and up to my room. I shut the door behind me and locked it, didn't need on of the guys walking in on me learning a song for another band... Jaime and I desided we'd learn it on our own and play the two parts together tomorrow. I pulled my laptop out and put the CD in it, I discovered I didn't have a music playback program. I'm a fucking musician, how does that even happen?
I groaned as I downloaded a program off of the internet. I saw that it was going to take almost 2 hours, oh for pete sakes. I groaned again before laying back against my bed, well now I have 2 free hours. I closed my eyes and attempted to take a little nap.
I opened my eyes to see I was on stage. The only thing was, I was on the same stage that I auditioned on today. I looked at the audience, only to see that it was empty, except for Mike Fuentes, his brother Vic and... Is that the short guy from today? I don't know, I kind of lost all focus when I saw Mike sitting their. He looked the same that he did when we broke up... He was thin and he looked broken.
I couldn't help but stare at him. He saw that I was looking at him, and he stared back at me, gazing straight into my eyes. His eyes were brown and familiar... To familiar, I haven't seen him in 3 years, yet his eyes remind me of something I saw previously today...
I broke my gaze from Mike and looked a Vic. He also looked the same he did in high school, his hair was short and slightly curled. Their was something familiar about him too, this is all really weird.
"Ok guys," Jaime said from beside me on stage, I just realized he was with me, "We're ready when you are."
"Go for it guys," Vic said, his voice ringing through my ears, "The song if 'Dance, Dance' but you already knew that..."
Jaime played the first chord of the song, I joined in without thinking. I just knew what to play, and I played it. While we played, my eyes wandered back to Mike. His face was very monotone and his eyes looked tired. It hurt me to see him like this again, I don't care that we haven't been together for years. I still care about his well being, and I hate seeing him in pain.
Once the song ended the three guys stood up and clapped, mirroring the reactions of when we auditioned for the first time.
I opened my eyes and yawned. I took in my surrondings and realized I was in my room once again. I rolled over and looked at the clock, I had slept for over 3 hours. God damn it. I picked up my laptop and saw that the program had finished installing. I clicked on the desktop icon and plugged in my headphones.
