Chapter Six

“Wake up, Sweetheart,” I heard Mikey whisper. I groaned in response and he chuckled. “We’re going to go to breakfast without you if you don’t.” I groaned again and pried my eyes open. He was leaning above me with his bedhead that I’ve gotten used to in the weeks we’ve been dating.

“Good morning,” he said and leaned down to kiss me. I eagerly returned it and he smiled. “Come on, we’re leaving soon.” He stood up straight and walked away from his bunk. I yawned and stretched.

Joe walked by the bunk and gave me a cheeky grin. “Have fun last night, did we?”

I rolled my eyes. “Shut up, Savins.” He laughed and walked away. I hopped out of Mikey’s bunk and walked over to the junk bunk. I grabbed one of his t-shirts and my jeans from yesterday and walked into the bathroom. I took off his basketball shorts and my tank top and slipped them on. I splashed some water on my face and put some toothpaste on my finger and brushed my teeth. I put my hair up in a bun and walked out of the bathroom, nearly running into Sam. We laughed and I went around him. I walked into the lounge and Mikey looked up from his phone.

“You look amazing.” I smiled and ran my fingers through his hair, which I’d taken to doing a lot lately. His hair was remarkably soft. Dave walked onto the bus and shouted for us to hurry. Mikey grabbed my hand and led me off the bus with Sam soon following. We swung our hands back and forth as we made our way up to the rest of the group that was waiting for us before we started walking to the restaurant. I noticed Kellin standing with Vic and I frowned slightly.

As we walked up to the group, Kellin looked at our hands. He looked up to me. “You guys are dating?” Mikey nodded, not noticing the tone Kellin held.

“Really? Isn’t that interesting?” Kellin glared at me.

Jaime noticed and quickly intervened, “Yeah, it’s actually really great. Why don’t we get to the restaurant before my stomach eats itself?” I smiled gratefully at him and we all started walking towards the little diner a block away. We entered the fifties themed restaurant and took a large table by the window.

Mikey pulled my chair out for me and we all sat down. I started looking over the menu when I got kicked under the table. I looked up and saw Tony smiling at his menu. I kicked him and he kicked me back. I kicked him in his shin and he let out a small scream. Everyone turned to look at him while he playfully glared at me. “What happened, Tony?” I smiled.

“Just a major pain in my shin,” he smiled back. I rolled my eyes and looked over to Mikey who had a knowing smirk on his face.

***
That night we decided to get hotel rooms, since we’d be in town for a few days. Everyone jumped at the idea. The buses were nice and all, but being in such a cramped space with so many people can get the best of you sometimes. Mikey had gotten us our own hotel room, which I was trying not to read too much into. We haven’t had sex yet, but we had been sleeping in the same bed a lot. It was different, though. We were either in his bus or mine, surrounded by our friends with little to no privacy. Now it was basically like our own apartment. It had a kitchen, a bathroom, and a spacious bedroom. It made me very nervous. I haven’t slept with anyone in over a year and a half.

“Sky!” I looked up from my place in the lobby and saw Erin and Danielle walking towards me with smiles on their faces. Jaime, Mike, and I all pitched in to fly them out early for Vic and Tony’s upcoming birthdays.

“Hey. How was your flight?” I asked, wrapping my arms around both of them.

Danielle pulled back and sighed. “It was delayed two hours and we sat behind a couple that insisted on fighting the whole time.”

I chuckled. “Flying is the worst.” Erin nodded. Since Vic and Tony were out with Mike, I helped them take their suitcase up to the rooms. I managed to sneak both of their room keys away from them this morning when I gave them each hugs. I swear, those boys would be so easy to rob.

After they got settled in we headed down to the restaurant and got some food.
We sat down at a table in the corner and Erin quickly spoke up. “Tony told me there’s a man in your life.” Danielle’s eyes got wide and she looked to me for details.

I blushed and looked down at my apple. “Yeah, his name is Mikey. You met him when we were in San Diego.”

“I didn’t really talk to him. What’s he like?” Danielle asked. I chuckled at how both of them were leaning in, completely engrossed.

“Well, he’s from the UK. He’s really polite, he opens doors for me all the time and pulls out chairs for me. He’s just a big nerd, really.” We all giggled. “He’s the lead singer and his voice is like liquid gold, I swear. He is really funny and makes a lot of corny jokes and he makes me feel special.” I bit my lip and looked up see both of them exchanging glances. “What?” I asked, confused.

“Have you said the ‘l’ word yet?” Erin asked.

I shook my head. “We’ve only been dating two weeks.”

“But are you in love with him?” Danielle asked, smirking. I bit my lip and thought about it. I haven’t ever been in love before, but I know how I felt about him wasn’t just some crush either. I shrugged.

“Maybe?” They both squealed and reached across the table to hug me. I laughed. “I really missed you guys.”

“Have you guys slept together yet?”

I shook my head. “No. We have our own hotel room tonight though, and I’m a little nervous to be honest.”

“Why?” Erin asked.

“I don’t think I’m quite ready. I haven’t been with anyone since…” I trailed off. Understanding washed over both of their faces and they nodded.

Erin spoke again, “Has he been pressuring you at all?”

I quickly shook my head. “No, no, he’s not like that. I don’t even know if that’s what he had in mind when he booked the room because we’ve been sharing beds the past few days.”

“Well, he seems like a nice guy. If you’re not ready, just tell him,” Danielle spoke softly.

I nodded. “You’re right. He’s not like the last one, he’ll understand.”

I looked behind them and saw Mikey and Joe walk in the front entrance. “There he is,” I nodded towards the door. They both turned around as Mikey smiled and started making his way over.

Danielle whipped around and whispered, “I did think he was really cute when I saw him. You guys make a great couple.” Erin nodded approvingly as he approached.

“Hello, darling,” he said and pecked me on the forehead before he turned to the girls. “It’s a pleasure to see you again,” he shook both of their hands and took a seat next to me.

“So, have the guys threatened you yet?” Danielle asked. Mikey chuckled.

“Yes, they have.”

Erin giggled. “Of course they have. Everyone in their little group threatens. Sky, remember when you threatened me?”

Mikey looked over to me and furrowed his brow. “You threatened her?”

“And me,” Danielle spoke. “She said if I ever hurt Vic in any way that she’d track me down.”

I giggled. “That was before I knew you though! I didn’t want another girl to break his heart!”

Erin shook her head. “But you had to threaten?”

“I had to see if it’d scare you away! If it did then that meant you weren’t a keeper. Besides, you know me. It was a totally empty threat.”

Danielle laughed. “It doesn’t make it any less ridiculous.”

“I can’t believe my girlfriend threatens people,” Mikey shook his head at me. I grinned at him. I looked past his head and saw Vic and Tony walking towards the entrance with Mike.

“There they are! Go, hurry!” Erin and Danielle stood up and hurried to the elevator, the doors barely closing before the boys walked in. They started walking towards us and I immediately began shooing them away. “Go away!”

“Why?” Tony asked.

I shook my head. “Just go away, shoo!” They both looked confused but walked over to the elevator. I smiled. “They’re going to be so surprised.”

Mikey grinned. “It’s really fantastic that you flew them out here.” I rested my head on his shoulder and sighed contently. “I have my own surprise for you tonight.”

“What is that?” I asked.

“I’m going to make you dinner,” he said and placed a kiss on top of my head. I looked up at him.

“When?”

“Are you hungry right now?” I nodded and he pulled me up. We headed to the elevator and were on our way up when it abruptly jerked and stopped. We exchanged glances and I began pressing all of the buttons, but nothing was working.

“Great,” I sighed and pulled out my phone, trying to get a signal. “Do you have any signal?” He checked his phone and shook his head.

“Don’t worry. They’ll notice the elevator isn’t working and we’ll be out of here in no time.” I smiled at him and sat down, pulling him with me. I rested my head on his shoulder once more and breathed in his scent. It was comforting.

“We could ask each other questions again,” he offered, his hand settling on my thigh.
“Sounds good,” I said and thought of the first question that popped into my mind. “If you could do a song with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?”

He mulled it over for a moment. “That’s so hard. I don’t know. It probably would be a mashup of Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Frank Sinatra, and Hayley Williams from Paramore.”

“That’d be quite the song.” I laughed.

“I don’t know how I’d go about arranging that, but it would be absolutely mental. Let me think,” he paused. “Can we ask about past relationships?” I nodded.

“How many boyfriends have you had?”

“Four, including you. What about you?”

“Well, I personally have never had a boyfriend,” he joked. I laughed and slapped his arm. “You know what I mean.”

“I’ve had six girlfriends.”

“Ooh, player,” I giggled. “Why did you break up with your last girlfriend?”

“She cheated on me,” he said.

I looked up and kissed his cheek. “I’m sorry, honey.”

“Don’t be. If she hadn’t, I would have never found you.” I smiled. “How many people have you been with?” I bit my lip and looked down. “You don’t have to tell me if you’re not comfortable with it,” he added gently.

“No, I just don’t like thinking about some of them. I’ve been with six people. You?”

He rubbed circles on my thigh as he answered, “Two.”

I racked my brain for a question. “How old were you when you had your first kiss?”

“I think I was in secondary school. I don’t remember exactly. How old were you?”

“Thirteen.”

“Where did you lose your virginity and who to?”

“In the back of a car, with a friend.” He nodded. I thought of another question. “Has a song ever been ruined for you because one of your exes dedicated it to you?”

He shook his head. “I don’t think so. You?”

I chortled. “And I Love Her by The Beatles. I can never listen to that song now.”

He smiled and quickly stood up, extending his hand to me. “Do you fancy dancing with me?”

I smiled and took his hand. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my lower back, holding me close. We started dancing slowly and I looked up to him. “There’s no music!” He smirked and started softly singing.

“1949 I found you
Since then never have there been two hearts that
Cannot, will not break their hold
I saw your eyes and darkness faded
Not a second longer could I have waited
For a kiss from lips that pierce my soul

Sixty years gone by
And still you are mine’
I leant my head against his chest and closed my eyes, soaking up this moment and his voice.
‘So sing yourself to sleep tonight and let your demons go
Cause every word you spoke to me has saved me for so long
And every move and every kiss, I've kept this on my tongue
Cause you're as beautiful to me as when you were young

So here we are standing side by side for all this time
And well, I could never comprehend a life without you
Then all of a sudden demons come and hurt your heart
I promise this, together we will win
I understand it's soon our time
But with this love there's no goodbye

Sixty years gone by
And still you are mine

So sing yourself to sleep tonight and let your demons go
Cause every word you spoke to me has saved me for so long
And every move and every kiss, I've kept this on my tongue
Cause you're as beautiful to me as when you were young

So sing yourself to sleep tonight and let your demons go
Cause every word you spoke to me has saved me for so long
And every move and every kiss, I've kept this on my tongue
Cause you're as beautiful to me as when you were young
Yeah you're as beautiful to me as when you were young
Yeah you're as beautiful to me as when you were young’

He finished the song and I had tears in my eyes. I’ve never had a moment as perfect as this with anybody. He placed his thumb on my chin and lifted my head to meet his eyes. He placed gentle kisses on my cheeks, getting rid of the tears. He pressed his forehead against mine and placed a soft kiss on my lips, holding my face in his hands. We pulled apart and smiled just as the elevator started moving again.
