Somebody's Supposed To Fall In Love

Light Up This Place

“Lana bear!” Someone slaps their hand to my cheek and I groan, pulling my sheets quickly up over my head.
“Get the fuck out!” I mumble.
“Lana bear said a bad word.” Gemma giggles and crawls onto the bed. She then sits on my waist and tugs at my sheets. “Wake up, Lana bear!”
Sighing, I push the covers down and stare up at the little blonde beauty. Her cheeks are still pink with sleep and her crystal blue eyes are staring down at me. “What time did you go to bed last night, princess?”
She thinks for a few seconds and then holds nine fingers up.
“Nine o’clock?” I nod and maneuver my head, so that I can read my clock. “Well, I went to bed at three-thirty, Gemma. That was four hours ago and I’m still very tired. So if you could jus—”
“But I want to go swimming!” She whines and leans down onto my chest. “Daddy bought me a new boogie board and I want to try it!”
“A new boogie board?” I repeat and then reach up to rub my eyes. “What color?”
“It’s blue and has Cinderella on it!” She grins from ear to ear.
“Cinderella?” I smirk and sit up, before tucking a few pieces of her blonde hair behind her ears. “Well, that changes things! If you let me get a shower first, I’ll most definitely take you down to swim.”
“Okay!” She giggles and jumps off the bed, running out of my room.
I sigh and run my fingers through my messy hair a few times. Then I stand up and stumble over to my phone charger. My phone is lying face down on the table, with the sparkly silver case facing up. When I go to turn it on, I notice two text messages staring up at me. Both of them are from Mike. Smiling happily, I pull the phone off its charger and flop back onto my bed.
The first one was sent at six-fifty this morning. I have no idea why he was awake that early, but I’m more than grateful for the messages. ‘Morning, beautiful... We just arrived in Ventura. Jaime’s pissed at me, but made it to the club without being raped. Wish I could be there when you wake up…’
I stare down at the message for a good five minutes, just reliving last night’s events. There was a lot of kissing, a lot of touching, a lot of moaning, and one things for sure, he made the car rock. Then when I collapsed onto Mike’s chest in exhaustion, he just held me there, and I listened to his heartbeats as he stroked my back. The way he held me was honestly the most beautiful feeling in the world.
I come back to reality and realize my cheeks are blushing. I giggle and then scroll down, reading his last message. ‘By the way… I found the rest of your tattoos. Love on your wrist, three butterflies at the base of your neck, and an arrow on your hipbone. Last one was my fav.’
Smirking, I bite down on my bottom lip and start to type my own message. ‘Morning, Mr. Fuentes... I wish I could be at the show with you guys. Play good for me and tell Jaime it was my fault! Congrats on finding them. Call me later, okay? I miss you already xx
After hitting send, I stand up and trot to my bathroom for a shower.

I come downstairs around eight-thirty, dressed in my black bikini and a long, fringed t-shirt for a cover up. Alex is standing, still in her pajamas, by the stove when I enter the kitchen. Her cooking is actually pretty comical. She usually sets the fire alarm off. “What’re you making, Alexandra?”
“Pancakes.” She says at once. “But I only made enough for myself, so don’t ask for any.”
I raise my arms and laugh. “I didn’t want any of them anyway. I’m going down to the beach with Gemma and I don’t want to look bloated.” I wander over the fridge and open it, searching around and finally pulling out a yogurt. Then I make my way over to the kitchen island and pull out a stool. As I pull the top off and start to eat, Alex turns the stove off and flips three pancakes onto another plate.
“So what did being fucked by a rockstar feel like?” Alex randomly asks, as she strides toward the walk-in pantry.
The yogurt is suddenly stuck in my throat and I start to cough, choking on the strawberry goo. “W-Wha…”
“Don’t even try to lie.” Alex pours syrup onto the pancakes and sits down across from me. “You’re way too happy right now. Plus you came through the front door at like three in the morning.”
When I finally compose myself, I glare up at her. “If you ever tell mom I will slit your fucking throat in your sleep.”
“Damn…” She snickers and continues to eat her pancakes calmly. “No need to be so defensive! I was only asking! And plus… I would never tell mom about you sleeping with anyone. We’re sisters.”
I roll my eyes. “Says the girl who told mom about the condom box in our bathroom trashcan.”
“I was fifteen.”
“And what was that, like a year ago?”
“Oh shut up.” Alex smiles and looks back down at her pancakes. “So how big was it?”
“You’re disgusting.” I smirk and stand up, tossing the yogurt cup into the trashcan and then walking into Gemma’s playroom. “I’m ready to go surfing, Gemma bear.”

That night, I’m lying on a beach chair in a sweatshirt and a pair of leggings. My long wavy hair cascades over my shoulders as I hold my iPhone out in front of me. Mike is lying on the couch in the tour bus, with his iPhone resting next to him.
“Why are you outside in the dark?” He whines. “I can barely see you.”
“I’m right here…” I say quietly and move onto my belly on the lounge chair. “I like being on the beach at night. It’s peaceful.”
“I’m pretty peaceful.” Mike sighs and then slowly yawns.
“Because you’re high.” I laugh and then yawn as well.
He laughs too and then picks the phone up. “I’m so fucking tired. And the only one here to keep me company is Tony. No one else is paying attention to me!” As he talks he moves his phone around to show Vic and Jaime working by a laptop and Tony lying on the ground.
When the picture falls on Tony he sits up, confused. “Hiya.” He moves onto his hands and knees, quickly crawling toward the couch, but Mike turns his phone away from Tony.
“Can I talk to him?”
“But you’re here for me…” Mike whines again.
“Let me see her!” Hands grab the phone and the picture becomes shaky.
“Give me my goddamn phone!” Mike yells.
“I want to meet your little girly, dammit!”
“FUCK!” There’s a thud from the other side and then someone bursts into laughter. Suddenly, Tony is staring at me through the iPhone. He grins and stands up, running in the opposite direction.
“Hi, I’m Tony. Nice to meet you, Lana.” He says quickly. “I think little Mikey has a huge crush on yo—”
There’s laughing again and the phone is being tossed around once more. I roll my eyes, but smirk watching the blurry background. They’re pretty much children. I actually think Gemma is more mature than them.
This time when the picture stills, Vic is staring into the phone with a raised eyebrow. My stomach drops as his mouth opens to speak. “Where are you? In a cave or something? Why is it so dark?”
I smile immediately. “In my backyard, sitting on the beach.”
“Oh, that’s right… Mike said something about you living on the beach.” Vic sets the iPhone down, so that it rests against something. Then he goes back to working on his laptop.
“What else did he tell you?” I ask curiously, running my fingers through my long hair as I watch him.
“He said you’re a very beautiful girl.”
“Aww, how cute of him, the bastard…” Jaime appears in the background and then sits down next to Vic. “Too bad she’s the one who forced him to ditch me! What ever happened to bros before hoes?”
My cheeks go red. “I’m really sorry Jaime! I told Mike to go with you, but he wouldn’t listen!”
“I’m just joking. By the way, I wasn’t calling you a hoe.” He slides the laptop closer to him and Vic takes the iPhone.
“I have a proposition for you.” Vic smiles mischievously and clears his throat.
“Oh, do you now?” I stand up slowly and make my way toward the house. “Should I be concerned?”
“Nah, I don’t think so… Mike wanted me to ask you, because he’s afraid you’ll reject him. I’ve been forced to help my brother in a time of need.” He smirks and leans back in his chair.
My heart starts to race. What does Vic mean? Mike’s afraid of me rejecting him? I should be the one fearing rejection. “Well ask me then!” I give Vic my best smile. I wonder if it’s convincing to him, because honestly, I am hardly convincing myself.
He inhales slowly and plays with a strand of his hair. “We’re playing in San Fran tomorrow. We’re actually on our way there now. After tomorrow’s show, we have a two-day break before we play in Chula Vista… And Mikey wants to know if you’d like to come with us?”
My eyes widen and I stare at my iPhone, trying to comprehend Vic Fuentes’ words. “Um… Yeah! I-I mean, I’d love to, but how am I supposed to get to San Francisco?”
“Mike is gonna head to the airport right after we play tomorrow. He’ll come pick you up and help you pack.”
“Holy shit…” I laugh, leaning against the granite bar on our patio. “Are you guys sure you want me there?”
“A girl on board will definitely switch things up, I think.”
“Yeah, you can do my laundry.” Jaime leans over, so that half of his face is in the picture.
I burst into laughter and shake my head. “I don’t even do my own laundry.”
“Well, you can learn! There’s always room for improvement.”
Vic smirks and pushes Jaime’s face away. “Speaking of improvement… Since you’re coming, hopefully Mike’s drumming will improve. I think you’re screwing with his head.”
“So you’re inviting me, because I’m fucking with your music?” I smirk.
“Yes, and it’s very upsetting. I cried a little bit after our set.”
Someone grabs the phone from Jaime and Vic and then I see Mike flopping back onto the couch. He holds the phone in the air and smiles. “So you’ll come?”
I bite down on my bottom lip and nod, before smiling widely at him. “How could you ever think that I was going to say no to an offer like that?
He shrugs. “Just don’t let your mom stop you from coming. You’re nineteen and she has no fucking say in this, okay? I’ll take care of you.”
“I know.” I smile again. “Can you stay the night tomorrow?”
“Whatever you want.”
I nod and slowly pull my hair to one side. “I want you here now.”
“Twenty-four hours, babe.” He smirks. “Twenty-four hours and I’m all yours.”
