"Cassandra… Cassandra… Cassandra…" My name was sung from the outside of the bathroom door.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, VICTOR!" Mike yelled from next to me inside the bathroom.

I heard Vic chuckle, "Why are you in there with her?"

Mike opened up the door and groaned while peeking out, "You're fucking annoying, you know that?"

"I have to piss!" Vic yelled and pushed on the door, his jaw dropping to the floor when he saw three pregnancy tests sitting on the sink. "Oh my god."

I shrugged, "They're all negative. I don't fucking get it."

Vic closed the door behind him, "Get what?"

"I haven't gotten my period this month… I was supposed to get it last week," I sighed and took a drag off the cigarette that was placed in between my index and middle finger.

Mike ran a hand through his hair, "There's no way you could be pregnant, babe. I've never busted in you."

"I know," I shrugged and threw the cigarette in the toilet. "I don't know what's going on."

Vic grabbed the tests and threw them in the trash, "You haven't felt well, Cass. You haven't been eating well because you've been sick. Since you haven't been eating you're not getting the right nutrients in your body, therefore, your period can get screwed up." He grabbed onto my hands, "The best thing you can do right now is lay off the sex just to make sure that something doesn't slip up and you get pregnant and not realize because of this."

I nodded and looked to Mike. He sighed, "I guess we should, Cass. Just to be cautious. Vic, please don't tell Mom about any of this."

"I wouldn't…" he smiled, "Now let me piss, please."

We walked out of the bathroom and into Mike's room. I laid down on the bed on my back and just stared at the ceiling. This entire pregnancy scare was my fault. I wasn't eating and now it was going to put a strain on our relationship. It's not like I could ever tell Mike that I was the reason this was happening, I just had to let him think I had this "cold" going on. As long as he was believing that I was free to continue on until I got down to my weight goal. Mike sat at the end of the bed staring at his hands. I knew this was going to be weird. We had been having sex ever since our four month anniversary, and we were now pushing two years and two months…

"Mike…" I mumbled and sat up. I crawled over to the side of the bed and ran my hand down his back.

He sighed, "This is going to be so weird. Like, how am I supposed to show you I love you?"

"I know you love me, baby. You don't have to have sex with me to show it," I kissed the back of his neck. "You don't have to worry about proving anything."

"I just can't wait until you feel better, kitten." He leaned back and looked up at me with a smile. "I just want my healthy little girl back," he reached up and ran his hand down my cheek.

I smiled and leaned into his touch, "I can't wait either."

"How's your stomach feeling right now? Do you feel up for some ice cream?" He wiggled his eyebrows at me, "We can get mint chocolate chip blizzards."

"We have to go to the grocery store first, Mikey. Your mom needs stuff. She gave me a list." I said with a smile.

He frowned, "I'm not going in. You can go in. I'll sit in the car."

I rolled my eyes, "I hate grocery shopping alone."

"Get used to it because when we get married I'm never going with you," he leaned up and pecked my lips before slipping his Vans on. "Grab your jacket and let's go."

I stepped out of Mike's car after he put it in park in the grocery store parking lot. I grabbed the list out of my jacket pocket and then leaned in the driver's side window and kissed Mike softly. I then walked into the grocery store to get everything on Vivian's list. She needed some produce, chicken, and a few snacks. I grabbed a cart and started shopping. I let my mind wander to Mike who was probably sitting outside chain smoking and listening to Stone Temple Pilots. He was terrified of the grocery store because he was left here twice as a child. Once when he was six and another time when he was eight. Let's just say he's never stepped foot in a grocery store since then. I grabbed all the items and then walked up to the cash register. I pulled out the fifty dollar bill Viv gave me and paid for everything. Then I walked back out to the car. Mike helped me unload all the groceries in his trunk, then he drove in the direction of the closest Dairy Queen.

"How was your shopping?" He asked as he put a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth.

"It was so scary. I thought I was going to get lost and you were going to leave me there," I laughed as he placed a bite in my mouth.

He glared at me and pulled the cup of ice cream closer to him, "You aren't funny."

"But you wuv me anyway," I pouted and reached for the spoon. He just pulled it further away from me. "Mikey!" I whined.

"Open up for the choo choo train," he chuckled and I opened my mouth. He put some ice cream in it and grinned at me, "That was so lame; never let me do that again."

"I thought it was adorable," I giggled.

He rolled his eyes with a playful smile. He handed me the rest of the ice cream, "Feed me while I drive." He put the key in the ignition and started driving home. I'd take a bite of ice cream and then give him a bite. I ended up missing at one point and ice cream went dribbling down his chin. "Lick it off, " he commanded and looked at me with a wink.

I leaned over and licked the ice cream off, then pressed a quick kiss to his lips. "You're almost as yummy as the ice cream."

"Girl," he rolled his eyes, "I'm better than the ice cream." He pulled into the driveway and grabbed the grocery bags. We set them down on the kitchen table.

"Thank you for going grocery shopping for me, Cassie," Vivian smiled as she sorted through the bags.

"You're welcome, Momma."

"You staying for dinner?" I nodded, "I'm making your favorite. I hope your stomach will be able to handle it."

I grinned, "I'll eat as much as I can."

"I don't want you to get yourself sick, Cassie. Have you gone to a doctor?" I shook my head, "Honey, I really think you should go."

I shrugged and leaned against Mike who was behind me. I had to come up with a lie, fast, "I don't want to go until cheer is over, though. I don't want to learn what it is and then be stuck out for the rest of the season."

"Your health comes before your cheerleading, Cassandra," Vivian smacked my thigh with a spoon. "I'm worried about you, and I know Mike is too even though he won't admit it."

I sighed, "I'm going to be fine. I am fine. It's a cold." Vivian rolled her eyes, "Don't roll your eyes at me! I'm telling the truth!"

"The truth is that you," she pointed at me with the spoon, "Need to get your tiny little ass to a doctor."

Mike groaned, "Mom, lay off."

"No, Michael. Stop trying to act like you don't care that she hasn't felt well because you're scared she's going to get mad at you." Vivian shook her head, "I'll call you two when dinner is ready."

The rest of the evening went by pretty fast. Vivian had made chicken and veggie skewers and I decided to eat as much as I could, just to make her happy. I felt disgusting after I ate though, automatically running to the bathroom and puking up a portion of it. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and saw how full my stomach was, which made me go back down to the toilet and puke a little more. I didn’t tell Mike I threw up, though. If what his mom was saying was true, I didn’t want him worrying about me. He drove me back to my house and came inside with me. My mom was at a friend’s house and had brought Frankie with her. I told Mike that I didn’t want to be alone and I wanted him to stay with me until my mom got home. He was okay with it. We just laid around in bed and watched Star Wars.

I snuggled more into his side, “Mikey, are you really worried about me?”

He sighed, “Of course I’m worried, Cass. You’re the love of my life and I hate watching you suffer like this.”

“I don’t want you to worry about me,” I sat up and looked in his eyes. “I’m gonna be fine, Mikey. States is a month away, and if I’m not better by then I’ll take care of it.”

He smiled softly and reached out to run his hands through my hair, “I’m going to worry no matter what you say. All I want for Christmas is for you to get over this sickness.”

I laughed, “Speaking of Christmas. Are you staying here Christmas Eve?”

“That’s what I plan on asking my mom,” he nodded. “And then we can just celebrate Christmas in the morning here and then we’ll go visit your dad and then go to my house.”

I grinned, “I can’t wait to wake up to you in my bed.”

“I’ll put a bow on my head and everything like a present,” he chuckled. “A big pink one.”

“That’s going to be so cute,” I squealed and launched myself into his arms. “Five days till our third Christmas together!”

He squeezed me tight and kissed the top of my head, “And there are so many more Christmases to come.”
