Misadventures (A Vic Fuentes Fanfiction)

Bulls In the Bronx

“Guys, is everything packed?” I asked as I walked through our place to make sure we had everything we needed.

“Yes, Addy! Let’s go...we’re gonna be late if we don’t hit the road now!” A very frustrated Skye said.

I chuckled, “Okay, okay, we’re going. I just wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything.” I said as we all entered the bus. We all stood in there for just one moment, taking it all in. This was it, no turning back. No having second thoughts. We we’re going to play Warped Tour.

“Home sweet, Home.’ Jessie said as she made her way through the back.

“I call top bunk!” Skye said as she ran past me.

“What? No fair! You had top bunk last time!” Jessie said back to her.

“So, but I called it….those are the rules, Jess.” Skye crossed her arms.

“Rock, paper, scissors for it.” Jessie said getting her hands ready.

“Fine, Addy you come be the ref.” Skye motioned me over towards them.

I rolled my eyes, “You guys are ridiculous.” I said as I walked over to them. At this time the bus had already started to move so we have to be careful when we walked.

“Okay are you guys ready?” I asked, they both nodded.

“On three, One...two...three!”

They both threw down their hands, Jessie had rock and Skye had scissors.

“Hah! I win! In your face, Skye!” She said as she made her little victory dance.

“Ugh, fine. But I call middle bunk then.” She said looking at me with puppy dog eyes. No matter how hard I would try to not give in, I always did. Skye had those wide eyes you just couldn't say no to.

“I guess, I’m taking bottom.” I said as I set my stuff in it.

*******

After about an entire day of driving we finally made it to the famous San Diego, or as I liked to call it The City of Great Despair.

I sighed. Trying to avoid all the memories from coming back into my mind, I had to remind myself that I was here for a different reason. This time I was here to play on one of my dream tours and I wasn't going to let my past get in the way of that.

We finally parked in the bus parking lot behind the venue. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon so Jessie and Skye wanted to get out and go explore. I was all for it but inside I was really nervous. There are bands here that I grew up listening to and it was a little intimidating. But knowing there really isn’t anything else to do I decided to go with them.

We all exited the bus and started to walk around. It was really hot out so there weren’t too many people. But the people that were out were sort of keeping to themselves.

“Guys, I can’t believe we’re here.” I said to them.

“I know, this summer is going to be amazing.” Jessie said.

We came to pass by a bathroom and Skye just had the sudden realization that she had to go, Jessie decided to go with her. Something about not wanting to go on the bus and how she can’t go while it’s moving...I don’t know. As they went in I waited outside and stood by the wall. Seeing as no one was around I pulled out my phone and took a selfie with the buses in the background. I posted this to instagram and captioned ‘Surprise! Guess who’s joining Warped?’.

As I was still goofing around on my phone, I didn’t hear anyone walk up to me until they said something.

“Is that Addy Wolfe in the flesh?” I heard a voice say. I looked up and felt a smile form across my face.

“Jeremy, oh my god! It’s been forever!” I said as I went to give him a hug. He took me in his arms and swung me around.

“How you doing kiddo?” He said after he let me down.

“Great! I can’t believe you’re here! The last I heard you were on tour!” I told him. Jeremy was an old time friend of the band and I. When we first started up, we opened for them a couple of times. It’s been forever since I’ve seen him and it makes me happy to know that he and his band are going to be here for the entire summer.

“The tour ended and we came straight here for Warped! But enough about me, where’s Jessie and Skye?” He asked.

I pointed to the bathroom, “Where do you think?" I laughed.

"She still can't use the bathroom unless the bus isn't moving?" He asked.

"Pretty much."

“Anyways, so you guys gonna be at the pre-party tonight?” He asked me.

“Pre-party?” I asked in confusion.

“Uh yeah, every year the band’s throw a party before the first date, kind of like a let’s get this show on the road deal.” He said.

“Oh, yeah sure we’ll stop by….what time?” I asked.

“It starts around 6-,” He got cut off by his phone ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket and and saw who was calling him.

“Oh shit, I gotta take this, but it starts at 6 and it’s in that secluded area over there.” He said as he slid his phone open and held it to his ear.

“Okay, talk to you later.” I said as he turned and walked back.

Just as he left, Jessie and Skye both came out of the bathroom. “Did we miss anything?” Jessie asked.

“Actually yeah, guess what band is gonna be touring with us?” I asked the both of them.

They both looked at me with confusion, “Guys, A Day to Remember!” I told them in excitement.

Both of their faces lit up. “No way! Really?” Skye said as she started to jump up and down.

“Yeah, I just ran into Jeremy, and he invited us to the pre-party tonight.” I told them.

“Oh shit a party? Well I’m in.” Jess said sticking her hand up.

“Oooo let’s go back to the bus to plan what we’re gonna wear!” Skye said still jumping.

Jessie and I laughed at her. Skye was always the fashionable one in the band, she always likes looking nice for wherever she went. It was kind of her thing. We made our way back to the bus to plan what we were going to wear and wait for the party.

Hours went by and we started to plan our setlist for the summer.

“I think Currents should go after Chasing Tomorrow.” Jess said to the group.

“Yeah but it’s one of our more popular songs so I think we should put it third.” Skye said to Jess.

“What if we put Serenity after Chasing Tomorrow?” It’s another slowed down song to give the audience some time to cool.” I questioned.

“Yeah that’s good.” They both agreed.

“Alright, guys, I think we have our setlist for the summer.” I said as I threw the papers in the air.

“Yay!” Jess said throwing her arms up.

I pulled out my phone to check the time, “Shit! You guys, it’s almost 7!” I said throwing my phone down.

“Shit.” Jess said.

We all rushed to get ready and honestly I thought we looked pretty damn decent. At this point it was 7:15 and we all made sure we had everything.

We made our way off the bus and through the dark we saw light and music coming from the place Jeremy showed us earlier. As we arrived, there were so many bands just chilling, drinking, and just having a good time. There was a bonfire in the middle and it sort of felt like camp, except with a lot more alcohol.

At first we all just kind of stayed with each other, since we really didn’t know anyone. I then spotted Jeremy talking to a blonde headed girl with really tan skin and a nose ring.

I tapped him on the shoulder, “Hey! You guys made it!” He said with a red solo cup in his hand.
I could tell from him that he was already drunk. Hell I bet everyone here was already drunk.

“Yeah, it’s a pretty sick party!” I told him. Truthfully I was never the party type. Back in highschool when it came to dances I was always the kid that sat in the background, hoping no one would notice me, and that’s how I liked it. The music was always too loud and the kids we’re always obnoxious.

“Right? By the way there’s someone I want you to meet,” He said revealing the blonde girl.

She spoke first and put her hand out, “Hi, I’m Jenna!” She said with a thick australian accent. She had a really pretty smile and her teeth were the whitest I’ve ever seen.

“Hi, nice to meet you, I’m Addy,” I said taking her hand and shaking it. She then moved onto Jess and Skye.

After we all introduced ourselves, we got to talking for a little bit. Jeremy then wanted us to go meet the band he was touring with before Warped, and Jess decided to stay with Jenna to talk more. When Jessie found out that Jenna was a vegan we knew we had lost her for the night. Jessie was the only vegan when we toured so she was really happy about meeting Jenna.
They ended up talking about different recipes and foods they make.

Along the way, I saw Kellin from a distance and I told Jeremy and Skye that I would meet with them later. They nodded and I went to go settle the beef between Kellin and I.

Kellin was alone at the moment so I thought it was the perfect time to talk. He was texting on his phone so he didn’t see me coming.

“Kellin.” I said to him.
He looked up and immediately looked away, shaking his head. “Addy, why can’t you just leave me alone?” He said as he tried to stand up to leave.

I stopped him, “Because I want to know why I haven’t seen or heard from you in months, then out of the blue I see you and you just tell me to stay the hell away.” I scolded him. I was mad. I was mad at the fact that I used to be so close to him and now he just shuts me out and doesn’t even bother telling me why.

He rolled his eyes. “It doesn’t even matter, you can’t fix this anyways.” He finally said getting up and leaving me standing there, staring at an empty chair.

What did he mean I can’t fix this? Does he know how badly he’s hurting me right now? I thought he would at least owe me an explanation. As much as my heart wanted to go after him, my mind told me it wasn’t the best idea. So I didn’t. I sighed and went to go find Skye and Jeremy. Remembering the direction they walked I headed there.

I saw Jeremy and Skye’s back and I walked towards them. Skye must have seem me from the corner of her eye because she turned around and gave me a strange look. I thought that was weird but I just ignored it. I tapped on Jeremy’s shoulder once again and he turned around.

“Just in time! Hey Ad, I want you to meet some good buddies of mine, Mike, Jaime, Vic, and Tony.” I started to drown Jeremy’s voice out when my eyes landed on the familiar faces in front of me, one in particular. I could feel my heart drop to my stomach as I stood there frozen. The all too familiar brown eyes staring back into mine. I could feel the entire world crashing around me as all the bad memories came flooding back into my head. My anxiety was reaching an all time high and this entire time I couldn’t say a word.

I could tell the others were just as shocked as I was, and they all looked back and forth in disbelief. But my only focus was him. The one who wouldn’t listen, the one who broke my heart and left it in pieces, the one who shut me out and was never to be seen again.

His stare was stone cold and it made my veins turn to ice. My heart was racing so fast I thought it was nearly going to explode, right then and there. My breathing started to become faster and faster till eventually I couldn’t take it anymore.

I knew that Jeremy must have been really confused because he spoke up out of this awkward silence between us all, “Addy, are you okay? You look like you’re going to pass out.” He asked me.

“Uh yeah...I’m...I’m fine.” I lied. They knew I wasn’t. Anyone in the world with a brain could hear the tone of my voice and tell that I wasn’t fine. Infact I’m pretty far from fine. I’ve tried for years and years to forget about him and there he was. Sitting there right in front of me.

Knowing how great of a friend Skye was she knew exactly what to do, she grabbed my hand and got me out of there. “Sorry, guys, but we gotta go.” She said taking me back to the bus. The entire time we walked to the bus, the same expression never left my face.

I could start to feel tears welling up in my eyes as we entered the bus. My heart was feeling so many things just seeing him, I didn’t know what to feel. I lied down in my bunk and sank into the comfort of my bed.

I could hear Skye walk up behind me, “Hey, Addy….you wanna talk about it?” She asked in a gentle voice. She, out of a few people, knew my situation with them...with him. I didn’t feel like talking, I didn’t even want to get out of this bunk ever again.

“No.” I told her. Knowing she wasn’t going to push it, she left me alone and I was okay that.

“Okay...do you want me to stay here with you?” She asked. I knew she wanted to go back to the party, even though I wanted her to stay here with me, but this was our first year of Warped and I didn’t want my drama interfering with her fun. I told her she could go and that I would be fine, that I just needed some time alone, she gave me a quick hug and left the bus. Which means I was completely and utterly alone.

With tonight’s events still replaying through my head, I eventually broke down and did something I haven’t done in a very long time, I cried myself to sleep.
