Can You Fix The Broken?

It's Not All In The Past

“Hey, are you ready?” I shouted through the bathroom door.

“Yes, I was just pulling my hair up.” Mia replied, walking out to meet me in the hallway.

“Gorgeous as always.” I flattered her.

She rolled her eyes and gave me a playful shove.

“Lying isn’t flattering, either is kissing ass.” She teased me with a huge smile.

I chuckled as the two of us made our way down the main hallway, and out to the garage where Dylan was all but stroking his car. Mia was obviously the first priority of our love and affection, but for Dylan - his Carbon Black Aston Martin came right after that. Mia and I had a running wager that said he’s fucked the car at least once, but we don’t have any proof yet, yet being the key word there.

“Good morning, sleepyheads. We’ve got a party to go shop for, who’s excited?” He cheered.

“I am, but it’s too early for you to be this loud.” Mia giggled.

“Will coffee make it better?” He asked her.

He already knew that answer, we all had a bit of a coffee addiction.

“We can get coffee, but don’t spill it in my baby.” Mia said, imitating Dylan to a perfect degree.

It was pretty funny how she not only could imitate his voice when she really tried, but she also knew exactly what he was going to say. What made it more impressive was that we had only known each other for about a year.

“Real funny, now get in.” He groaned, slamming the driver’s door once he got in.

“After you,” I said, holding the passenger door open for her.

Pulling out of the garage, our first mission was to get our coffee, and then we were setting out to not only grocery shop for the meals that we were going to have when Chris and the rest of his friends came over, but we also wanted to decorate a little bit. In honor of them, but we also knew that Mia was head over heels every single time there was a reason to decorate the house. There were also times where she’d just make up an excuse to jazz up the house, it was something that made her happy, and thankfully was also harmless.

As of now, they were set to arrive around 6 pm two days from now. That gave us enough time to get everything ready without feeling like we had to go crazy trying to get everything done in a pinch.

“You should let me drive on the way back.” Mia stated.

“I don’t like you driving Felix’s car with no traffic around with the perfect forecast. Which means there is no way in hell you are going to drive this baby. I love you, but no.” Dylan shut her down.

“You’re too protective.” She sighed, resting her head back against the headrest and slipped her feet up on the dash.

“I’m actually holding back a little bit.” He told her.

“Somehow that doesn’t surprise me.” Mia chuckled.

“Hey, we’re here!” I cheered.

“Alright, Mia are you coming with me to get the groceries or do you want to go with Felix and grab some decorations?” Dylan asked her.

“I’ll stick with Felix.” She said, and with that we both went our separate ways to get what we needed.

“So, who is this Chris and how do you know him?” Mia wondered, grabbing a cart.

“He’s an old friend of Dylan and I. We actually first met at a Bleeding Through concert we went to, we just started talking and realized he was a good guy. Not to mention the fact that we both were in the same line of work.” I explained.

“Oh...so he’s um...he’s a dom?” She stuttered.

“It’s okay, he’s a really good guy, Mia. I wouldn’t let him anywhere near you or this house if I thought for one second he would hurt a hair on your head.” I tried to assure her.

“I’ve been told people are good before, and then watched them turn into the devil himself.” She whispered, an intense fear flashing in her eyes.

I instantly knew what horrific memories were flashing in her mind, what events she was reliving.

“Hey, you’re ok. That’s all in the past.” I cooed, rubbing her back.

“But it’s not.” Mia groaned, pulling up her sleeve so that I could see the angry puckered scar that ran from the inside of her elbow down to her wrist.

It was one of the many marks she had received just prior to us finding her. It was the one thing that hurt her even worse than her memories of back when, the actual physical scars.

Just seeing it made me boil with rage, only a monster could do something like that to such an innocent being.

“I understand, but you have my absolute word that these guys aren’t like that at all. They truly are as good hearted as I’m telling you.” I promised her.

“Ok, we need to change the subject. These are cool.” Mia stated, pulling off a bag of black and gold balloons that had ‘welcome’ on them.

“Absolutely!” I agreed with her.

“Hey, I just wanted to let you know...we actually don’t need decorations for when they arrive. I just know you’re a fan of Target runs.” I admitted.

I was delighted when she cracked a small smile for me.

“You’re kind of the best.” She whispered.

“I try, I try.” I cooed, holding out my hand for her to take.

“You do amazing.” Mia told me.

“You do too.” I complimented her, turning the cart around and heading over to find the things I knew she enjoyed.

“Alright, now if I remember right, there are 10 items you love more than anything. Let’s see if I can’t remember all of them.” I said.

“Ooh, go for it!” Mia cheered me on.

“Ok, so first we have candles...specifically anything that is Cinnamon or fruity. Then there’s the three B’s. Bath bombs, books, and blankets. After that comes movies, especially sappy love stories.” I stated.

“5 down, 5 to go.” She giggled.

“Not too shabby. You also love acquiring new plants, along with cute coffee mugs. Which I believe is followed up by coffee, CDs, and last but not least…...you have a soft spot for fuzzy socks.” I finished.

Mia slowly clapped for me, a smile now back on her face.

“You do know me incredibly well.” She exclaimed.

“Yes, I do. I also know Felix well, and that’s why we should hurry up a bit before he starts to have a little panic attack in his precious little car.” I chuckled.

“Ok, we’ll go fast!” She said, practically sprinting down the aisles.

About 20 minutes later, we were grabbing our bags and heading back out to the car. Mia insisted that she pay for everything, but I refused it, that was completely unnecessary.

“Hello, again!” Dylan said, pulling up to the curb.

“Hi, did you get everything you need?” Mia asked, this time jumping in the backseat.

“Yes, I managed to grocery shop successfully, and I’m pretty sure I got everything to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the couple of days they’ll be here. One thing is for sure though, I’ve become a little too dependent on you getting the food for us.” Dylan told us, driving us towards the house.

“I don’t mind, I actually find it pretty relaxing. There’s few things as calming to me then going into a grocery store with a list and being able to check item by item off.” She explained.

We continued small talk, until the car fell into a quiet hush. It wasn’t awkward at all, it was just a peaceful quiet. As we approached the house, Dylan did bring up one more question.

“So, what is your plan for when Chris and the others get here?” He wondered.

“I’ll probably just stay at a hotel. No offense to them, I just don’t really want any other guys around me.” She replied, and that was a response that made total sense to us.

“Alright, we’ll talk about that more tonight, and get everything set up for you.” Dylan promised, pulling up to the garage.

“If you want to go bring your stuff in the house Mia, Dylan and I will grab the rest of the bags.” I told her.

“Sounds good, thanks again.” She thanked us, grabbing her bags and walking up to the front door.

“So, did she actually get to enjoy herself?” Dylan asked me.

“Yes, there was a little moment where she dwelled on the past, but she snapped out of it pretty quickly.” I said.

“Good. That poor thing should never have to think about that terror ever again.” He stated, shaking his head.

A sudden scream pierced through the sky, and Dylan and I both froze for just a mere second, looking at the house and then back at each other.

“Shit.” I hissed, putting down my bags.

We heard a loud echoing thud, and Dylan broke into a mad dash straight into the house.

This couldn’t be good.

Notes

What could have met Mia in the house?!?

This is so totally off topic, but HOLY HELL! The website is working again!

@WednesdaysCoffin
I always get frustrated when I can't foresee the future of my book, but I tell myself that at least it means it won't be predictable. If you don't know what's coming - the reader sure as heck won't know, unless they have kick ass guessing skills.
This story is absolutely in it's early stages, and chapter by chapter I see it growing and getting to the more in depth, exciting stuff. I just posted a new chapter, so I hope you enjoy :D

@BlackVeilsinWhite
I understand completely. I started writing "Time To Waste" over a year ago, actually, and I still to this day have not decided how it's going to end and exactly how the ending will play out. So, I totally get it! It's very early days yet for this story, and I'm just excited to see where you take it and what you divulge along the way. :)

@WednesdaysCoffin
I'll be honest, you're not the only one torn about who she will end up with. I have a pretty good idea of the rest of the plot, but who knows, things can always change! The BDSM hints will continue to slowly come out and between where her love interest goes, it will all come together eventually, you have my word!

Hmm. An interesting development in this chapter. I'm kind of torn between if I want a Mia/Ryan romance or if I want to see her with someone else, ahem, who might be a little taller and have more tattoos. :) Because I am predictable like that! Though the idea is intriguing, and I'm also intrigued by the covert BDSM hints here and there that the guys are all involved in that community. I'm really curious to see where this is all heading . . . . :D
