A Flair for the Dramatic

Reunion

Once Aaron and I got off the plane my stomach was suddenly full of knots. It’s been two years since I’ve seen Mike and Vic and I couldn’t wait to see them. There was so much catching up that needed to be done. Yes we talked over the phone and told a story or two, but it wasn’t the same.

“Hey are you alright?” Aaron asked catching my attention.

“Um yes? Did I miss something?”

“No, but I can see you’re super nervous. I don’t quite understand why though, these are your friend’s right?”

If only you knew.

“Yes, yes. It’s just been a long time, that’s all.”

Aaron smiled and leaned down to give me a small kiss.
We made it to the escalator towards baggage claim and made the slow ride down. As soon as I saw them my nervousness turned into full excitement. I didn’t even wait to make it to the bottom before I jumped off and ran to my friends. Mike was quick to grab me into an embrace away from his brother and whirled me around.

“KER BEAR!”

I laughed as we spun around the airport.

“Michael, I’ve missed you sooo much! We have so much catching up to do, you have to tell me about every girl you’ve been with while I was away.” I told him while we still spun. He finally put me down before saying that I had all summer to hear about it. Next I turned to Vic and the knot came back. I looked up into his beautiful chocolate brown eyes full of love. The same love that I left two years ago. I missed him, I missed us, but I had something good and I wouldn’t mess that up. No matter how much my feelings for Vic still lingered around.

I put on a playful smile, “Are you just going to stare at me or are you going to say hi?”

He returned a huge smile and pulled me into a hug. I could have melted, my knees suddenly became weak. I hugged Vic, no more like squeezed him.

I could barely make out what he said, but I knew he missed me just as much as I missed him. I hugged him tighter and told him I missed him too. Aaron had caught up to us and cleared his throat. I pulled away from him suddenly feeling guilty as if though I had cheated on Aaron. I moved to his side and introduced him to the guys. The shock definitely set in big time for them. Aaron reached out for Mike’s hand first.

“It’s nice to finally meet the both of you. Keri has told me plenty.” He said.
“Nice to meet you too man, but I can’t really say the same..” Mike said.

Yeah I knew he was upset and we were definitely going to talk about it.

Vic added his two cents, “That seems to be a habit of hers. It’s nice to meet you also. Welcome to sunny California.”

Yes Vic I still remember the whole me not telling my friends you were my boyfriend. Thank you for making me feel like a horrible person once again. Aaron mentioned getting the bags and I started to follow, but Mike pulled me away.

“Your boyfriend?”

“Yes Mike, my boyfriend.”

“Are you nuts, how can you just bring some random guy home with you. Let alone why haven’t you told me about him?”

“Because…”

“I’m not Vic you know.”

“Yes I know that clearly, but you would have eventually told him, and Aaron coming was a last minute thing and he’s not random we’ve been dating for a year.”

Mike threw his hands up, “A year Ker Bear, really and you couldn’t tell me? Does Mom and Dad know about him?”

“Yeah, they met him and his parents over Christmas break.”

“This is so unforgiveable. Stay here.” Mike walked away and came back with my bag. “You have a lot of explaining to do.” He pulled me away towards the parking garage and I explained everything to him.
