Why do you keep running away?

Tierra's pov-

Still in flashback-
Both my parents laid lifeless on the floor with blood filling the house. I heard police sirens begin to inch closer and closer to the house. "No this can't be happening" I sobbed looking at Austin with my hand over my mouth. I hope this is just a bad dream. I closed my eyes hoping to wake up from this nightmare. I opened my eyes to see this wasn't a dream. It was really happening. "Come on we have to go!" Austin cried getting up from the pool of blood surrounding and covering him. The police busted through the door hoping to find the culprit. Just to find my mom and dad killed. Me and my brother left hopeless. And my little sister left without her parents she barely got to know. She thought she had the perfect family. But this night proved her wrong. The police got us out of the house and took us into questioning. We sobbed all night wanting this not to be a reality. Both people we love, gone forever. Tris didn't understand that our mom and dad had died. So we told her. "They're on a long vacation to a place where they can be happy forever and protect people around them" Austin said holding Tris close to his chest. "When are they coming back?" She asked looking at me for an answer this time. "I don't know, just know they love you with all they have and will protect you no matter what happens later in your life" I answered with a fake smile. Austin pulled us into a hug. "I love you guys, I promise I will protect you" He said. We looked one last time at our now condemmed house. The sadness took over. All the memories in that house, gone. All the family moments and parties we all had, having fun as a family. Were gone. No more holidays or birthdays shared together, it's just the three of us on our own. "Do you have any family or close friends you can stay with for tonight?" The sheriff asked. We gave each other looks, not one of us wanting to answer him. "Yeah, my best friend Victor Fuentes" Austin answered. "Ok sir, we can give you a ride to his house if you would like" We nodded. As the police were still investigating the house. Tris, Austin, and I got in the back of a police car and went to Vic's. We arrived and the police explained to Vic and Mike's mother what exactly happened and why we had to stay over night. She nicely agreed to. Maybe in pitty? We walked in to their house, which was like a mansion compared to our. "Do you kids want hot chocolate?" Mrs. Fuentes asked. "No thanks" I answered taking a seat on the couch. Luckily all of the guys were here. "I'm so sorry Tierra" Kellin said pulling me into a hug. I cried into his shoulder. "I'm here if you ever need me" He said as I looked deep into his turquoise colored eyes. I simply nodded. Why have I friendzoned him for so long? The guys said he has a huge crush on me, ever since we met. He was always nice to me. He even took me to my prom, my mom tried to push me into dating him, but I declined. She always thought he was the one for me. It was nothing more than friendship. Jenna sat by me. She covered us with a blanket and let my head rest in the crook of her neck. She knew how I felt deep down. It's like she could read my mind. We watched movies in silence trying to calm us down. Tris fell asleep at 830. And the others decided to go to bed also. Mrs. Fuentes let them stay over night because we were all close friends. I laid by myself on the bed looking at the celing. Why is this happening to me? I reflected on the memories. From when my dad abused me. To when my mom started to go to therapy. When my little sister was adopted by us, she thought we were the perfect family. When I had my first heart break. And when Austin formed his band. Everything was perfect. Up until now. Everything went to hell. My family fell apart, my best friend left me here alone. The anxiety attacks soon bagan to fill the small room. It felt like the walls began to close with me. I quickly jumped out of bed grabbing my belongings. I ran out of the bedroom. I need a break from everything right now. I quietly walked to the living room to see everyone was still asleep. Austin cuddled up to Jenna even though they were just friends. Mike laying on his stomach on the floor. Kellin asleep by Vic. Justin and Gabe cuddled against Jack and Jesse. Tony barely hanging on to the couch snoring. I'm surprised all that noise didn't wake them. Tris had her stuffed Chewbacca animal next to her. She was sound asleep with her glasses still on her face. I smiled. I stepped over piles of bodies. I laid a kiss on her forehead. "I love you" i whispered. She smiled and was sound asleep. I sighed looking at my friends. I'm sorry I broke your promise mom. I looked at the clock. 12:00 am. I opened the front door. I exited without leaving a trace from me. The street lights guided me through where I was walking. I finally get to abandon my life. I walked down an alley. I don't know where I am going. I walked until I found an all night Coffee shop. I finally decided to settle down. I sat down and ordered a coffee. I sat at the round table looking around at people. What are they still doing out? I was there for about 30 minutes. I put my head in my hands. I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I looked back. "Miss, are you ok?" she was gorgeous. She had dark red lipstick, perfect winged eyeline, eyeshadow and a glow. Her glasses made her perfect. "Um, yeah" I smiled. She smiled back. "Do you have anywhere to stay tonight?" she asked. I nodded. I was a really bad lier. I looked down when I was lying. "Are you sure?" she asked. I shook my head "No". She sat infront of me. She was a waiter. "Do you want to stay with me? I need a roomate anyway" she offered. I looked at her. She was nicer than I thought "I might be a serial killer and you're going to let me stay with you?" i asked raising an eyebrow. Was she lying. "I'll take my chances" She giggled causing me to laugh. "You're really nice," I looked at her name tag. "Katie" I continued. "I'm Tierra, but you can call me Tia" I said. "Nice to meet you Tia" she smiled shaking my hand. "Let me finish my shift and we can go" She got up from her seat and walked to the back. Little did I know. This would change my life.
