Will The Story End, Will It Ever Change?

Chapter 2: The Few, the Proud, the Emotional

*Carter's POV*

As the night carried on, the more I got hit on by drunks and the older they drunks seemed to be getting, "Hey Carter, I'm gonna take my break, will you be okay out here on your own for 5?" Lacey shouted over the music, I smiled and nodded before serving up a beer to a guy who served me back with winks, "Creep" I muttered to myself considering this guy was about 40 and looked rough as hell, clearly he was only here to pick up women, most of the customers usually are if I'm honest, "Hey excuse me!" I heard a male voice shout, it was kind of soft but I couldn't identify where it was coming from, "Over here" I heard to the left of me, I glanced over to see a smallish figure standing to the left of me smiling with his arm out a little so I would definitely see him, "Hi, sorry about that, it's just incredibly busy in here tonight" I laughed as I walked over to the side he was at since I had to manage the bar myself just now, "No, don;t worry about it, I'm sure my height doesn't help either" he laughed, I returned a giggle before asking what he would like, "I can I have four whiskey cokes and four beers please" he smiled handing me a $50 bill, "Uh sure, would you like me to bring them over to you?" I asked hoping that he was actually sitting in a booth because I would hate to see all these get spilled in the dancefloor out there, plus the fact it would be I who would have to mop it up and I'm not really up for that tonight, "Sure, we're at the booth by the door" he smiled before pointing to a booth filled with 3 other guys, I couldn' really see their faces but I could tell they were guys from their shadowy figures, I smiled and nodded before turning and fixing the drinks up, I hung off a couple of seconds hoping Lacey would come back so she could take them over as I hated going out from the dancefloor when it was this busy, well to be honest, I just hated leaving from behind the bar, it feels safer back there, since there was no sign of Lacey I decided to throw an apron on and grab a tray, I carefully placed the drinks on the tray so I wouldn't spill them when walking over to the dancefloor, they have a lifted edge to help that thankfully as you wouldn't believe the amount of people that bump into you despite you warning them that you're walking through with drinks.

As I was about to walk over I saw Lacey come out of the back room, "Oh thank god, can you take these over to that table for me please?" I smiled pointing to the table that ordered them, "No way!" She said panicking before shoving me out and closing the bar, "Lacey!!!" I shouted back at her but she began serving customers and ignored me, I let out a deep sigh before making my way over to the table at the door. When I reached it I saw the guy from earlier who smiled at me and got up to help dish the drinks out, next to him was a tanned guy who had a nose ring and long brown hair, with hazel brown eyes, the next one had a lot of tattoos, I liked the star wars ones on his knuckles, my favourite movie franchise, of course, he wore a snapback and had stretched ear lobes, the final guy also had some tattoos but I didn't really get to inspect them as he saw me staring and smirked at me, causing me to grab the tray and leave immediately without hesitation. When I got back to the bar I tried to question Lacey on why she suddenly flaked out on me but she avoided the subject completely, "Hey you look really pale, are you okay?" She asked examining my face, "I'm fine, I just feel a little funny that's all" I shrugged before going back to serving drinks, "Hey my shift ends in 45 minutes so you should take your break now or you're never going to get it" she cautioned, I just shook my head, "I'm fine, don't worry about it" I smiled as I continued to take money and serve drinks. as the night carried on, more people came and went, there were times it was unbelievably busy and times when it was a little bit quieter but not too quiet, "Okay that's my shift over, good luck" the redhead smiled before hugging me quickly and exiting through the back door, as I managed to dull down the crowd of people wanting drinks I saw one of the silhouettes from the booth from earlier was watching me, as I moved back and forward it looked as though they were following my every move, it creeped me out a little bit but I tried to shrug it off as my imagination, until he got up and started to make his way over to the bar, this was when panic started to fill me.
