Time Stands Still

Chapter 1: Leave This Place

Amy’s POV
==========

I can’t do this I thought to myself. My hands were shaking uncontrollably and I was sweating like crazy. This tour was a bad idea. I can’t do this. I had to call Lauren and tell her to cancel. I grabbed my phone and managed to steady my fingers long enough to type in her number. While waiting for my friend to pick up, I couldn’t help but keep repeating: I can’t do this.

“Hello?” A voice spoke from my phone.

“Lo, w-we have to cancel the tour, I can’t do it. I just can’t, I’m sorry.” I realized that I was talking quite fast and I felt as though I was going to pass out.

“Amy, listen to me,” Lauren said commandingly yet calming, “Do some deep breaths and try and relax. Everything is going to be ok, I promise.” I did as she said and started to feel a little better. “Remember, just close your eyes and think of your happy place. Take a minute in silence and just do that.” I followed her instructions and thought about being on stage and seeing the crowd sing back my lyrics. That always calmed down. I felt a lot better. Lauren’s voice broke the silence, “ You ok now, hun?”

“I think so. Thank you.” I said, resting my free hand on my head.

“No problem. You can do this. Plus we can’t back out, our flight to San Diego leaves in about an hour. So we should probably be heading out now. The tour is a good thing, I promise.” She reassured me.

“Ok,” I replied, “ See you at the airport. Bye.” And with that I hung up, grabbed my bags, and left my house.

Lauren’s POV
===========

Getting off the phone with Amy, I couldn't help but feel like a hypocrite as I finished bandaging my wrists and slid my razors back into the leather pouch. I pushed that thought away and filed all of my bracelets on my arm so no skin was visible from my wrists to about 2 inches away from my elbow. I then, wrapped the pouch and some extra bandages in a small towel and tied it shut with a rubber band. I threw in one of my bags as someone rang my doorbell. I opened the front door to see Jade standing there, smiling at me.

“Hey boo, ready to go? We have to pick up Nadia on the way.” She said

“Yeah,” I answered, “let me get my bags. I’ll meet you in the car.”Jade nodded, walking back to her vehicle. Once I loaded all my stuff in the back, I crawled into her truck. While we drove to Nadia’s, I noticed that she was looking at me observantly. “What?” I asked, wondering what was on her mind.

“How long has it been?” She questioned, a serious look was on her face.

“Uhh, it’ll be six months tomorrow.” I lied. If I hadn’t hurt myself today then what I said would’ve been true but I wasn’t going to tell anyone. She had enough stress without having to worry about someone as insignificant as me.

“That’s fantastic!” Jade’s expression softened and I just gave her a small smile. I then drew my attention to the road when we turned onto Nadia’s street.

“Wait, you let her go home alone?!” I asked, remembering that Nadia had stayed over at our drummer’s house the previous night.

Jade rolled her eyes before replying with, “No, yesterday I told her that I’d go with her to get her things but she had left already when I came home from work.”

“Oh, shit.” I said, when I noticed the black sedan in our friend’s driveway; it was Jack’s.

“Hell no.” Jade mumbled, as she parked and ran out of her truck.

Nadia’s POV
==========

“I’ll be damned if I let you go on that stupid tour with you incompetent band.” Jack spoke through clenched teeth as he grabbed my shoulder hard with one hand.

“Well, that’s ok, because you’re going to hell anyway.” I smirked. His reaction to that comment was a firm slap to my face. I knew that was going to happen, it’s been the same routine for ages and I wanted the bastard out of my life, but he just wouldn’t leave me alone. I was SO ready to leave and go on this tour.

“Watch your mouth,” He spat. I was able to release myself from his grip. I was done with all of this.

“You don’t control me, we have been done. I hate you. Now get out of my fucking house!” I yelled but Jack didn’t moved except to reach for the vase that was next to him. He was in the motion of throwing it at me when my front door flew open. I turned to see Jade rushing towards my insane ex, in a heroic manner. Thank God, Jack was absolutely terrified of her. Without saying a word, she threw a punch at him, and Jack fell to the ground. Jade pulled the boy to his feet and dragged him outside as I followed.

“You are going to get in your stupid ass car and stay away from this house. Also, you’re going to leave Nadia alone! Do you understand me?” Jack nodded, got into his car, and left.

“Thanks J, and I’m sorry I shouldn’t have left without you.” I apologized, chucking all my things in the back of her truck.

“It’s all good. I’m glad that you’re ok. Now let’s go or else we’ll be late for the plane.” She smiled and pushed me into the car next to Lauren.

“You excited?” Our guitarist asked, giving me a quick hug.

“Definitely,” I replied, “Anything to get out of this place for a while.”

“So, Nadia, is there someone to look after your house in case Jack comes by?” Jade questioned, driving out of my neighborhood.

“Yeah, my brother is staying there.” I said.We spent the entire car ride talking about setlists, which we probably should’ve taken care of earlier but oh well. I was quite excited for the months ahead, especially since we were touring with Pierce The Veil.

Jade’s POV
=========

The plane ride from our hometown of Phoenix to San Diego was only about 45 minutes. Although it was nice to be away from home, the weather wasn’t much different. One girl, maybe about 14 years old, approached me during the flight and asked me if I was the drummer of Toxic Temptation. I was pretty shocked that someone recognized me, but I guess I had to get used to that sort of thing. Our 2nd album, Hidden Scars, had recently gone platinum in a couple countries. Honestly, I don’t know how it got that popular but I guess it didn’t hurt to have Vic Fuentes from Pierce The Veil do some guest vocals on one of our songs. I was kind of nervous because while Amy and Nadia had met the whole band on a handful of occasions, me and Lauren had only met Vic and he’s a great guy, but I wasn’t sure how the other guys were and if I would be able to handle being on tour with them for 3 months. When we got off the plane, the four of us piled into a small rental car and I drove us to the address we were given via GPS.

“Ok great. See you then. Bye!” Amy said cheerfully into her cell phone before hanging up. “Vic said that we should be there soon. Vic said they’ll meet us outside the bus. Vic said we are leaving really early tomorrow so-”

“And Vic said this, Vic said that. Oh my god, Lauren did I tell you what Vic said?” Nadia interrupted, mocking Amy’s voice. The three of us cracked up completely, while Amy rolled her eyes at us.

“Can you at least act like you aren't in love with Vic?” I snorted. "I mean I know you two hooked up a couple times but come on-" Amy shot a death glare at me. Oops, Lo and Nadia never knew about that.

I thought I casually slipped that by until Lauren blurted out, “Amethyst Lorraine Fields! You slept with Vic Fuentes?!” Our singer didn’t answer, instead, she buried her face in her hands. “Ooooooo, saucy!” Lauren said, bouncing up and down in the backseat. ‘But I’m your best friend, how come I didn’t know?”

“Jade found out while going through my messages,” Amy said and jabbed me in the side but I just grinned in response. “It was a one time thing. Nothing special.”

“Yeah sure,” I smirked. “Oh look, we are here.” I said as we pulled into a parking lot next to the beach. It was empty apart from our car and a massive tour bus. When we exited, all of us were greeted by four men with smiles on their faces.

“Hey, Amy.” Vic, the short one said, taking her in his arms.

“Here, let us help you unload your bags.” Mike, the really tall one, offered. I was a bit taken aback by how good-looking they were. Of course we knew what they looked like, I mean come on it was Pierce The Veil, but something about seeing them in person doubled the sexiness, especially with their bassist. Yup, I could already tell this tour was going to be great.
