The Gymnast
JULIE'S POV
Hearing the sound of a car horn, I realised Sarah was waiting outside for me. I treasured our car rides together - it was the only time we were together except from the odd lunch and weekends. I ran down the path and around the car to the passenger side. Sliding in, I yanked off my heavy bag.
'Morning,' she smiled.
'Hey,' I said, turning up the album 'Pardon My French' by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and mouthing the lyrics. I turned to Sarah who was doing the exact same and we burst out laughing.
'I've missed you.'
'We spoke yesterday, Jewl.'
'I know.'
We arrived at school much faster than I would've liked. She sighed as she did every morning whilst pulling the keys out. We climbed out the car and got our bags before going to find the group which was only Tony and Mike.
'Hey guys,' we said, approaching them. The boys turned, 'Hey,' replied Mike. Tony said nothing, just smiled. I tugged at the strap of my bag as it was digging into me.
'Dancing again today?' asked Mike, realising the extra weight was due to my dancing stuff. I nodded, pulling the strap once again. 'How are the dances for the show going?' asked Sarah.
'Good, they're looking good. Even got a lift into the contemporary one and it fits really well. Thanks again for that Tony,' I said, glancing at him. I couldn't look for too long or I'd get lost in those big brown eyes.
'It's alright,' he replied.
Mike looked at me with a confused expression, 'What?'
'Oh, Tony helped me with the lift. He's pretty damn strong you know!' I laughed, nudging him on the shoulder.
'I can imagine,' said Mike, signalling towards his muscely arms. I bit my lip and looked at my feet which had suddenly become very interesting.
Suddenly I could feel two hands snaking around my waist. My mind was put to rest as the sound of Jaime's voice came over my shoulder, 'Hey, you better?' I leaned my head on his as a 'sort of' which, being my best friend, he understood.
'Hey to you too, Jaime,' laughed Mike, pretending to be deeply insulted. We all laughed and Jaime removed himself from behind me, stepping in between me and Sarah. We talked until the bell rang and forced us to part ways.
The walk to registration was quite awkward to say the least. I was on the left, then there was Mike and on the other end was Tony. He seemed so distant and the minute Jaime arrived he didn't seem so happy. I pushed the thoughts aside and carried on walking, but they wouldn't leave. Why doesn't he like Jaime? What did Jaime do to make him so pissed?
TONY'S POV
I took my seat and instantly turned to Mike, finally I had found enough confidence to ask the question that had ben burning in my head.
'Is there a thing going on between Julie and Jaime?'
'No, they're just friends I think. I've only been close to Jaime for a few months though so I'm really not sure, why do you ask?'
'No reason, just wondering.'
With he bell concluding the end of last period, I smiled internally as the school day had ended. I got up off my seat and began to exit the English classroom when a girl took hold of my shoulder and spun me round.
'Hey, you dropped this,' said the girl - who had bleach blonde hair, an orange face and far too much eye make up on - as she waved a pencil around.
'Not mine,' I said bluntly. She looked at me and bit the tip on the pencil in a seductive manor but it just came across as odd and revolting. I shook my head in disgust before turning back around to go, but her hand stopped me once again.
'I'm a gymnast you know,' she said. 'I date all the hot guys in this school you know.'
'Okay,' I said, trying not to cause a scene but wanting to leave.
'That probably means that we'll be going out soon,' she smiled. 'See you around Perry.' She began to walk and slapped my butt before leaving the room. What the fuck? What the actual fuck?
