TONY'S POV

I entered homeroom and took my seat, noticing Mike and Julie enter out the corner of my eye. I focus my eyes on the desk so as to avoid awkward eye contact with anyone.

'Hey dude,' said Mike. I shot my head up and turned to him, 'Hey.'

'Are you free at lunch? We're going to try and sort some stuff out for the show.'

'Yeah, where will I meet you guys?'

'At the canteen, we can just sneak our lunches out.'

The teacher interrupted our conversation in order to do the register. I sunk into my seat and gazed longingly at the scribbles on my desk, wondering what everyone who drew them's story was.

Like most days, that day moulded into one big block of yawns and ranting teachers. Before I knew it, my feet were carrying me off to the canteen. I entered the crowded room and scanned the line before spotting Jaime. I breathed out - in all honesty I was a bit jealous of him - and proceeded to approach him in a friendly manor. We stood in line, in silence, before collecting our lunches and meeting the others at the doors.

'Thats us all, let's go,' said Vic, hurrying out of the door and down the empty corridor. I followed the guys through to the music room and they all took their seats, Mike's being behind the drums of course.

After a few minutes of messing around, we got a few bits and pieces done. Knowing that there would be contemporary pieces, Vic told me and to try and work something out on the guitar for it. I shuffled my chair back slightly and began to strum lightly, working out different sounds.

'I don't know what to do until I know what the dance is like,' I admitted. I didn't understand how I was suppose to write music to go with a dance that I hadn't seen.

'Good point,' said Jaime, 'Will I call Julie?'

'Yeah, please.'

Mike stopped drumming and Vic silenced himself as Jaime dialled her number. As soon as she picked up, he put her on loudspeaker. 'Hey Jewls, we need to see the contemporary dance so that we can write the music for it.'

'I'm in the PE department now, come whenever you like. I need to go Hime-Time, got work to do for this hip hop class next period.'

'Okay, see you later.' With that, he hung up. 'Tony you can just go down if you want? We're doing the piece for the 60's bit anyway,' suggested Jaime. I nodded, setting the guitar aside. I said my goodbyes to Vic, Jaime, Mike and the other guys in the room before leaving.

I entered the PE department and followed the sound of a loud beat. As I became closer to its source, the lyrics became easier to hear. I turned to my left to see Julie inside one of the halls dancing away. She had her back to me and was rolling her shoulders and hips in a squatting position. Mesmerized, I stared through the glass as she moved with ease across the floor. Her body looked so loose as she danced along to the hip hop music. The song ended far too fast and she slumped on to the floor, head hanging low as she panted. She removed her high-tops and threw them aside, pulling up her joggys so they were stopping just above her shin.

Another, much slower, song began. The classic music filled the room and she pulled herself up to dance along, I took that as my signal to enter. I watched intently as she glided across the floor with such grace. Her foot pointed out and she took hold of her leg, pulling it up to her head. Letting it fall, she spun around and then stopped abruptly, mumbling to herself.

'Hey,' I said.

'Oh Tony, I thought all the guys were coming?' My heart sank a little, but I sucked it up. 'No, I'm the one in charge of the contemporary piece. Why did you stop so suddenly?'

'I, uh, there's a lift I want to put in there.' She paused for a second, running her hand down her ponytail. 'Are you strong?'

'Uh, I guess, why?'

'Well all I need is for someone to catch me, I just need to see if it fits into the song or not, then you can watch it over so you can get a feel of it all.' I gulped. 'If I showed you how, would you try?' I could do nothing other than nod. She took hold of my shoulders and moved me into one corner, smiling at me briefly before running off into the opposite corner.

'Okay, I'm going to run towards you and when I'm close I want you you pick me up by my hips and lift me as high as you can okay? I'll go slow at first so you can figure out when you want to catch me, you don't have to put me all the way up right now.'

Julie took a step back before striding forward, arms swaying by her side. She took a small step and pushed up as I took hold of her hips and only raised her a little over 10cm off the ground. I put her down and we gazed into each others eyes for a few seconds.

'Great, okay, you ready for the real thing?' she said, shaking her head a little as she backed up.

'Mhmm,' I replied.

She repeated her previous actions a little faster, gliding across the floor magestically. I bent down a bit and took hold of her hips as she spread her arms. I straightened my legs as she hovered above me in a horizontal 'T' shape. I held her there for a few seconds before lowering her to the floor. Once her feet were safely on the ground, I found it hard to take my hands off her. She placed her hands over mine, indicating to me that I could let go, which made me blush furiously. 'Thanks,' she giggled, pulling away. 'When I run into the corner, get ready.'

Making her way over the the stereo, she restarted the song and placed herself on the floor in a small ball. She recited the flawless dance and I watched in awe as she did the moves and countless twirls which made me feel dizzy. She went into the corner and I bent my legs in preperation. She threw her light body in my direction and I caught her, pushing her up into the air. Placing her down carefully, she quickly leapt off into the centre of the room and continued dancing. She twirled and threw her body back on the floor in the same position as the one she started in.

'Done! That help you?'

'Y-Yeah, thanks.' Feeling my face go red, I hurried out of the room. I couldn't spend another second in that place without exploding.
