JULIE'S POV

Sarah pulled into a space in the school parking lot. Sighing, she turned off the ignition: 'Senior year here we come.'

We stepped out of the car before spotting Jaime just across from us. I threw my heavy backpack over one shoulder, the weight of it making me slouch, and hurried over to him. I tossed down my bag before jumping on his back and squeezing him tightly.

'Jewls!' he exclaimed as he spun around underneath me. I slid off his back and we shared a quick hug. 'How have you been? What did you do all summer?'

'Not a lot, just had the summer dance camp thing, that was all. What about you, Hime-Time?'

'You know those guys Vic and Mike?'

'The brothers?' I interrupted.

'Yeah,' he confirmed. 'Anyway, I've actually grown pretty close to them. We've actually jammed a few times, it was pretty awesome.'

'That's great, Jaime. We'll need to have lunch together!' I exclaimed.

We continued to talk for a few moments before Jaime had to excuse himself to go and find Mike and Vic. Me and Sally made our way into the school building to collect our new timetables and - within a matter of minutes - I had the PE teacher talking to me.

'Julie, I'm sure you know that the school show will be in around a month, would you mind choreographing some stuff for us?'

Reluctantly, I agreed. I wasn't confident but I was a dancer and everyone knew that (mainly due to the large bag or bags I was hauling around). Once I went through the details with Mrs Gaffney, me and Sarah parted ways to go to home room.

Entering the familiar space, I took a seat up the back. I rummaged through my bag and fished out my phone, untangling the earphones as everyone began to enter. I slipped one in and pressed 'play', the sound of blink-182 soon blasting in my ears. I guess I was kind of odd - I was a dancer, but I was in no way a girly girl and my dress sense and music taste could back that up. I carried on pondering on the thought before I realised the teacher had entered. I took out the earphone and slid my phone back into my bag.

'Shh class, quiet down. We have a new pupil joining us for senior year, meet Tony Perry everyone.' I turned my attention to the boy next to Mr Flinch, his appearance instantly taking my breathe away. He had on a sleeveless band top, skinny jeans, a snapback and vans. I smiled at him as he mumbled a shy 'hello' before scurrying off to a spare seat.

TONY'S POV

I refrained from running and settled with a fast walk as I made my way to the empty seat. Plopping myself down, the boy on the adjacent desk instantly burst into conversation.

'Good band,' he said, signalling towards my top.

'Thanks.'

'You play anything?'

'Guitar, you?'

'Drums. Oh, I'm Mike by the way.' The tall guy smiled, turning his face back to his desk. He tapped his fingers furiously on the desk as the teacher read the bulletin out. Just as she finished reading the last point, the bell rang to conclude registration. I got up from my seat and hurried off into the hall, the crowd quickly swallowing in a wave.

My first class was History, which was followed by Maths - the most boring period imaginable. Rushing to fourth period (Physics), I felt rather confident as to where my class was as I made my way down the busy hall. I noticed the classroom number and pushed through the bodies to reach it. Entering the class, I went to the back and took my seat.

Seconds later, Mike entered the class. He waved at me before coming up and taking the seat next to mine. 'Hey man, you got plans for lunch?'

'Nope,' I said sadly, 'don't even know where the canteen is.'

'You can sit with me and my friends if you want? I'm sure they'll like you, what with the good music taste and stuff.'

'Yeah, thanks man.'

'No bother.'
