Broken On The Inside

"Kaylee?" Everyone asked me at the same time.
The puppy, now named Kaylee, yipped in my arms.
I nodded, "You guys don't like it?"
"I like it," Dani said.
The others nodded in agreement.
"Kaylee it is, then," I announced, stoking Kaylee's fur.

4 New Messages From "Unknown"
Unknown: You can't hide forever
Unknown: I'll find you
Unknown: I know where you are, Lydia
Unknown: Those guys can't keep you hidden forever
Odd. I don't know who the heck this could be, but I sure as hell will find out. And I know because of previous relationships guys will go out of their way to hurt me.
FLASHBACK
"Lydia, where the fuck were you?" An angered Blake yelled at me.
"Out partying. It was nothing," I replied casually.
"That's no excuse," he yelled at me.
This angered me for some reason.
I grabbed all my stuff (which was just some clothes, my phone and charger, and a really old necklace my dad had given me before he died) and ran out the front door.
FLASHBACK OVER
After that, I had to go back to my mom's place.
I glanced over at my phone.

Unknown: I'm on my way to find you
Oh no- this can't be good.

I knocked twice on Vic's front door and there was still no word from him or Lydia.
Not even a bark from Kaylee.
I tried turning the door knob, and the front door swung open.
It was unlocked.
Why, though?
Vic never leaves his front door unlocked.
I steeped inside and closed the door behind me.
"Vic?" I called out, wandering into the living room.
After a few minutes of searching, I hadn't found Vic, Kaylee, or Lydia yet.
None of them were in the kitchen or the living room.
I wandered upstairs and peeked into Vic's bedroom, (the door was wide open), and found him sitting on his bed with his head in his hands.
I gasped and he looked up at me sadly.
His face was tear-stained, tears quickly falling down his face.
I went in his room and sat beside him.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Lydia...," he whispered out.
"What about her? Is she okay?" I asked frantically.
Lydia was a good friend, and I loved her like a sister.
"She's... in the hospital," he replied, barely whispering out the words.
"Why?" I asked, sadness taking a toll on my voice.
"She was found in the park," Vic whispered out, "She was stabbed 10 times in the chest and was appeared to have been choked."
Oh my god.
That's terrible.
Who would do such a thing?
And to Lydia, who is one of the sweetest and most shy people I've ever met?
"Where is she now? Is she okay? Where's Kaylee?" I asked frantically.
Vic spoke the tiniest bit softer now, "She's in surgery at the hospital. Kaylee's asleep on the floor in Lydia's room." I stood up and grabbed Vic's arms.
I practically dragged him out of his room and into my car.
I grabbed his house keys off the table in the dining room and locked up his house.
He had gotten in the passenger's seat in my car and was ready to go see Lydia.
I got buckled in the driver's seat and took off down the road and to the hospital.

Danielle and I were seated in the waiting room of the hospital, waiting to hear from the doctor on how Lydia's recovering.
Just as I was thinking about that, the doctor emerged through the doors of the waiting room, clipboard in hand.
I hope she's okay.
Notes
Oh no, what happened to Lydia? Do you think she's okay?
Are you all enjoying the story so far? I enjoy writing it. :)
Also, sorry about the short chapters. I'll try to write longer ones.
