Broken On The Inside

~Two months later~ |Lydia|
Vic let me stay in the guest room of his house. I did stop by my house and grab some things, though. I took everything I owned out of that house without my mother ever noticing. She was always drunk, so I don't think she remembered me getting anything even if she had saw me. The guys- Tony, Mike, Jaime, even Kellin- visited every few days. We would all watch movies and eat popcorn. It was awesome. Staying with Vic was better than staying with my mother. By the way, she didn't even try to find me.
Me and Vic would listen to music together and play video games when the guys weren't visiting. Right now, though, I was laying down on my bed, watching YouTube on my phone. It was also my birthday.
"Hey Lydia," Vic called from downstairs, "Come here for a second." I sighed and paused the video I was watching. I stood up from my bed and made my way downstairs. He was standing in the living room, along with Tony, Mike, Jaime, and Kellin. They all had gifts on the floor by their feet.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" I rushed downstairs and gave them all hugs.
"Open my present first, Lydia," Kellin said to me.
I laughed, "Okay." Kellin handed me his present. It was a fairly-sized gift bag. The opening was overflowing with black wrapping paper. Kellin knows me too well. I sat on the couch and carefully removed the wrapping paper to find a smaller gift bag inside.
"Really Kellin?!"
"Yep." I lifted the small gift bag out and found a small black box inside it. I opened the box and inside was a necklace that said 'Crybaby' on it. I liked Melanie Martinez alot, so I removed the necklace and put it on.
"Thanks, Kell."
"I'm glad you liked it, Lyd."
"Mine next!" Vic shouted, walking over to the couch. He handed me his gift and plopped on the couch, sitting beside me.
"Fine, Victor." I laughed. I always called Vic 'Victor' because it really annoys him. He had handed me a fairly-sized wrapped box. I slowly ripped the wrapping off of the box, balled it up and placed it by my side on the couch.
"Hurry up already! I wanna know want it is, too!" Jaime yelled and everyone laughed.
"It's my present and just because you said that, I'm going to take my time," I said back to him. He groaned and I laughed. I looked around and Vic wasn't in the room anymore. I shrugged. Under the wrapping paper was a brown box. I carefully opened the box. Inside the box was a sketchbook. I set that beside me on the couch. Under the sketchbook was a smaller box. I pulled out that box and opened it. Inside of that box was a key and a note.
The note read:
In the darkest days, there is a light.
Where you find hurt, you will find comfort.
Find the room in the house that holds both comfort and hurt.
Sincerely, Vic
I groaned. Vic was gonna send me on a wild goose chase. I picked up the key- it was an old-timey key that was fully metal with a red ribbon tied on the top. I sighed and stood up.
"WHAT WAS IT??!!" Jaime yelled at me. I laughed. "Chill, Himes. Anyways, Vic is sending me on an adventure."
"Well then, go find him," Tony said. I nodded and went upstairs. I knew exactly where he was sending me. I walked into the bathroom. On the counter was another note and another key. The key was similar to the first one; old-timey, red ribbon, fully metal, it was just a different type of key. I picked up that key and read the note underneath:
The next key will be where flowers grow and die.
Find the place where roses are found.
Sincerely, Vic
I sighed and went downstairs and out the front door to the garden. On the concrete bench beside the rose bush was a key and a note. I added the key to the other two and read the note:
We fatally met in this place.
Red still stains the green grass.
Find the place where I saved you.
Sincerely, Vic
Easy! The park. Could Vic make it any more easier? I ran through the park to the clearing. Standing in the clearing was Vic, who was holding a- wait, what?
