Misadventures

Now This is War

Tony's POV
“You must be Tyler.” I said.
“How did you know?” He asked.
“Because I know evil when I see it.” I replied, going up to him punching him.
We took a few swings at each other and I ended up getting a nosebleed.
“Oh, that looks like it hurts, man.” Tyler said.
Everything he said was with sarcasm, this guy obviously had no heart. I pinned him to the ground.
“Why are you after Carolina?” I asked him.
“Because she's mine.” He replied.
I gave him one final punch and he was unconscious, or so I thought. I started walking away, I went to check if Carolina was okay, and she was. I sat her up against the wall and I started walking away.
“No!” I heard Carolina yell.
I turned around and saw Tyler holding a gun, pointing it at me, and right as he pulled the trigger, Carolina jumped in front of me. I could feel the force of the bullet push her body closer to me when it shot her. She was facing me and I could see the pain in her eyes, not just physical pain, but emotional too, she started to cry and fell.
“You idiot!” Tyler said.
I ran up to him and grabbed the gun from him and gave him a few pistol whips, a lot actually. Then I ran back to Carolina, putting pressure on her wound, I started to cry.
“You're gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay, I swear.” I told her, holding her hand. She was shot in the upper back.
“Mike, call 911.” I said.
“I already did.” He replied.
I looked back at Carolina, and she was barely moving, then I heard the sirens, I ran her to the ambulance.
“Please, please take care of her.” I said.
“We'll do what we can.” The doctor said.
We followed the ambulance to the hospital and were told to wait in the lobby for the longest time. The nurse came back saying she would need surgery to get the bullet out of her back.
“Will it do any damage to her?” I asked.
“No, it wasn't that close to her spinal cord, she was lucky.” The nurse replied.
I sighed a sigh of relief and took a quick nap, probably five minutes. It was about five o'clock in the morning when they said I could see her, they didn't want all of us to see her at once because she might feel overwhelmed. So I went in and saw her in a hospital gown.
“Hey.” I said.
“Hey.” She replied, smiling at me.
“Feeling any better?” I asked.
“Well I'm not great, but I'm not dead, so that's good.” She said.
I held her hand and we sat in silence for a while.
“I'm pretty tired, I think they put me on some kind of medication.” She said.
“Yeah.” I said.
“Do me a favor?” She asked.
“What?” I replied.
“Call this number, ask for Shelby, tell her I'm sorry I couldn't make it but I plan to see her soon.” She told me.
I was confused, who was this 'Shelby' person? But I went out of the room and called the number.
“Hello?” A woman answered.
“Is this Shelby?” I asked.
“Yes, who is this?” She asked.
“This is Tony, I'm Carolina's boyfriend.” I replied.
“Oh! Hi Tony! I've heard so much about you!” She said.
Okay, so Carolina and Shelby know each other somehow.
“Well, Carolina wanted me to tell you she's sorry she couldn't make it, a lot of stuff has been happening.” I told her.
“Is she okay?” She asked.
“Not really, she's in the hospital, she was shot.” I said.
“Oh no!” She said.
“Yeah. Well I have to go now.” I said.
“Okay, give Carolina my best!” She said.
“I will.” I replied.

Carolina's POV
I was unconscious for a while, all I remember was Tyler punching me and feeling the pain. I felt somebody lean me up against the wall, I'm pretty sure it was Tony. I opened my eyes and looked to right to see Tyler pointing a gun to Tony.
“No!” I yelled.
Tony turned around and I jumped in front of him, and felt piercing pain in my back after I heard the gunshot. I looked at Tony and started tearing up, and fell to the ground.
“You idiot!” Tyler said to me.
I knew he was trying to kill Tony and I wasn't about to let that happen. Tony got up and went out of my sight, I just heard what sounded like punches. They guys were surrounding me and I was in shock. Tony came back, reassuring me that I would be okay.
“Mike, call 911.” Tony said.
“I already did.” Mike replied.
I heard the sirens, and Tony basically begged for the doctors to take care of me. I started getting dizzy in the ambulance and I wanted to fall asleep.
“Miss? Miss?” I heard the doctors say very faintly.
I woke up the next morning at around four thirty, they said I just had surgery and got the bullet out of my back.
“Did it cause any damage?” I asked.
“Your friend asked the same thing,” The nurse started, “No, it wasn't very close to your spinal cord so you were very lucky.”
I smiled. “Yeah, I am.” I said.
Tony came in and asked me if I was feeling any better.
“Well I'm not great, but I'm not dead, so that's good.” I told him.

I told him I was tired and I asked him to call Shelby for me, telling her I was sorry I couldn't make it to the park. Tony went out of the room to call Shelby and I fell asleep.
