There's Always Calm Before a Storm

Today's the day I meet my half-sister.
I'm so nervous about this.
What if she doesn't believe that we are related?
What if she doesn't like me?
"Relax dude" Tony said giving me a "bro" hug.
"I am relaxed! Don't tell me what to do"
"Hey be nice. We know your nervous, but you don't need to take it out on us" Vic muttered.
I looked at Mike for support, but apparently he was to busy being consumed by his phone to notice the conversation.
We pulled up to a nice apartment complex.
"Oh crap, I can't do this. I don't know what I was thinking" I practically started screaming.
"Stop being a pussy and meet your goddamn sister" Mike suddenly said.
Ok I can do this. This will be easy.
We found her apartment and knocked the door.
A few moments later it opened.
Standing there was a short girl with blue hair, piercings and tattoos. She looked to be biracial a mix of black and Mexican.
And she had a Pierce the Veil shirt on.
Then she shrieked like a fangirl,
"Oh my god!!! Why is Pierce the Veil at my house!!!"
Oh wow she's a fan. This should be interesting.
"Um hi, are you by any chance Scarlett Bianca Salinas" I asked.
"Yes?"
Her response sounded more like a question than an answer.
"I think I'm your half-brother" I whispered.
She was quiet for a second before she shrieked,
"WHAT?"
Suddenly this guy came out of the apartment and wrapped his arm around her.
I don't like that guy. Something seems kind of off.
"Who are these people?" he growled.
"Its um Pierce the Veil and apparently Jaime is my half brother." Scarlett replied looking kind of scared.
"Wait, why do you think we're related Jaime?"
"Well my dad was never in my life. And recently my mom told me he just left us. So I decided to try and find him. I found out his name was Emilio Salinas and that you are his daughter. I couldn't find any information on how to contact him. But your information was there. So thought that I could maybe ask you if I could somehow meet him." I tried to explain.
"Oh um he died 9 years ago" Scarlett whispered looking like she was about to cry.
"Oh god I'm so sorry I had no idea"
Crap, I feel horrible. I had no clue.
I never knew my dad, but I'm kinda sad he's dead
"Do you um want to come in. We can talk about this whole situation" Scarlett asked nervously.
She rocked back and forth on the tip of her toes.
Suddenly Vic decided to say something,
"You have food!"
"Yes"
"Then we will come in."
Oh god, why did Vic have to do that. Scarlett probably thinks me and the band are wierdos now.
"I don't think thats a good idea," Spencer said.
Scarlett winced for some reason.
I think somethings wrong I just don't know what.
"Maybe we can meet at Starbucks or something," Scarlett suggested.
"Yeah sounds good."I muttered back to her.
After we exchanged numbers we made plans to meet later on in the day.
*Time Skip*
I arrived at the Starbucks 5 minutes early because I was so nervous.
I brought Vic, Mike, and Tony with me since Scarlett seems to be a really big fan.
If I'm going to be honest I really want to impress her.
She walked in 3 minutes later, by herself.
Scarlett walked over to us and sat down.
"Um hi" she said really quietly.
"Hi. Do you want something to drink? Or eat? I'll get you whatever you want?" I blurted out really quickly
The guys started laughing at me.
And soon Scarlett joined in.
"It's ok I can buy myself something" She said through her laughter.
"Really I can get you something. I want to since you know I'm your brother" I replied
"Um ok, I'll take a small hot chocolate"
I went up to the counter and ordered her drink.
When I got back to the table I saw her and the guys talking.
They seemed to be getting along.
"One small hot chocolate for the small girl" I announced
Scarlett glared at me and retorted,
"I'm not short you're just a giant"
"Haha nope I'm average, you're short"
She giggled and rolled her eyes.
Then a serious look came over her face.
"How do you know we are related? Don't we have to do a DNA test or something?" She questioned.
"Well yeah we can do that later. Do you want to try to get to know each other?"
"Sure"
Vic decided to interject and say,
"This is really awkward"
"So Scarlett I'm sure you already know a lot about us---" I began
"What?!? No! I'm not that obsessive. Ok maybe I am, but that's besides the point! " she squeaked.
Which just made me and guys laugh.
"Haha, it's ok you don't need to be embarrassed Scarlett," Tony comforted her.
"So who was that guy we met at your apartment" I questioned.
Scarlett immediately looked to the ground.
"He--e's my boy friend", she whispered
Thats when I saw a bruise on her jaw.
I'm pretty sure everyone else did to.
"Did your boyfriend hurt you?" Mike growled.
"N--no he wo---would never do that to me" Scarlett stuttered.
Suddenly I knew she had to be my sister with or without the DNA test.
I got that over protective sibling feeling
"Scarlett we can tell that he hurt you. You can't go back to that apartment. I'm guessing you snuck away. I know we just met, but you could come and live with us. We are going on warped tour and I'm sure we would all love to have you come with us." I suggested.
"Oh no I couldn't do that. I would just be in your way. And what about my job I just can't quit." Scarlett replied.
"Darling, we would be honored if you would put up with us." Vic tried to convince her.
"Yeah, you could work as a merch girl for us at Warped Tour. It'll be really fun" Tony continued.
"Jaime, you don't even know if we are actually related. And say we are I'll only be your half-sister. You have no obligation to help. I'll only get in your way. You'll get tired of me and want me to go way." Scarlett murmured.
"I realize we just met, but I know we are related. I can feel it in my heart. And who cares if we're only half siblings, I still care about you. We aren't going to get tired of you. Please, let us help you." I argued
"Just let us help you. Can't you see, even though we just met, that we care about you. Stop being difficult!" Mike barked.
I was about to get on to Mike about being to rough on Scarlett when she said,
"Ok I guess I'll let you guys help me"
She looked really unsure about all of this.
"Don't worry after a week we will all be a big happy family" I comforted her.
Yes! I get to be a big brother.
"Um I have to get my stuff from my apartment" she said on the verge of tears.
"He's going to be so mad at me. He'll hit me really hard"
"We will protect you. We won't let him hurt you. We're your family now" Tony promised as he got up and hugged her.
"Come on lets go get your stuff" I proclaimed.
We got up and walked out of Starbucks.
I wrapped my arm around Scarlett's shaking figure and told her,
"Everything will be ok, I promise."
"I wish that where true," She whispered back.
