There's Always Calm Before a Storm

Scarlett:
Waking up this morning was extremely painful.
My ribs hurt from Spencer hitting me.
My thighs were caked in blood and my pajamas had stuck to my legs.
Before we continue, maybe I should introduce myself.
My name is Scarlett Bianca Salinas, I'm 20, I live in San Diego, and my life has been one huge tragedy.
I have a nose piercing, collar bone piercings, and snake bites.
I have a tattoo of a rose vine with white roses rapping around my left arm, a ying and yang sign on my right wrist,
and the the song lyrics:
This is not what is is only baby scars on the left side of my ribcage.
I work at a local bookstore.
Not that I need to, but because I want to.
My life has been a progression from bad to worse.
When I was 11 my parents died in car wreck.
At 12 I was adopted by the "perfect" parents.
We moved to California and for a few months things where ok.
Then something changed the "perfect" parents turned into the perfect nightmare.
Every day until I was 18 they beat me...
And there was nothing I could do.
In my senior year of high school I met Spencer.
At first he was the sweetest and most amazing boyfriend ever.
Then he and his friends started drinking.
And he started hitting me.
So that's the basic overview of my life.
Spencer came into our room and started yelling at me...again.
I just got up and took a shower.
Then I made him breakfast.
While he was eating the doorbell rang.
"Go get the door," Spencer barked at me.
I opened the door and came face to face with Jaime and the rest of Pierce the Veil.
"Oh my god!!! Why is Pierce the Veil at my house!!!" I excitedly screamed.
Jaime looked at me and quietly said,
"Um hi, are you Scarlett Bianca Salinas"
"Yes?"
"I think I'm your half-brother"
"WHAT?" I shrieked.
Spencer came to door and wrapped his arm around me.
"Who's are these people?" he asked
"Its um Pierce the Veil and apparently Jaime is my half brother." I replied.
"Wait, why do you think we're related Jaime?"
Well my dad was never in my life. And recently my mom told me he just left us. So I decided to try and find him. I found out his name was Emilio Salinas and that you are his daughter. I couldn't find any information on how to contact him. But your information was there. So thought that I could maybe ask you if I could somehow meet him." Jaime explained.
"Oh um he died 9 years ago" I whispered.
"Oh god I'm so sorry I had no idea"
Do you um want to come in. We can talk about this whole situation"
Suddenly Vic decided to say something,
"You have food!"
"Yes"
"Then we will come in."
"I don't think thats a good idea," Spencer said has as pressed his arm into my freshly bruised ribs
"Maybe we can meet at Starbucks or something," I suggested.
"Yeah sounds good." Jaime muttered.
Jaime and I exchanged numbers and agreed to meet later on that day.
Maybe life is really going to get better for me.
