The Forgotten Memories Of Allison Fuentes

The Memory Of Cake, Fighting With Vic Again, Breakfast Dates, The Unfortunate Knock, Seth, Brown Hair, And The Masked Intruder

I woke up to the sound of squeals. Wasn’t me this time I swear. I go to get my stitches removed tomorrow, and the doctor said I can start doing daily functions. It was very bitter sweet for me. That meant no more Vic but a lot of freedom. I sat up right and swung my leg out from under the covers. Another day in San Diego. I took a breath and stood up. My legs were shaky like before. Walking was like a new talent. Okay Al left, right, left, right. I told myself, as I slowly lifted and placed my foot on the carpet. I could hear voices down stairs, and opened my door. I lunged for the railing as my legs gave out latching onto it for dear life. I couldn't go a day without having an accident could I? Thankfully I caught the railing and eventually, with time and effort, was at the bottom of the stairs.

"I heard her crying last night. She is not ok," that was Vic's voice.

"I haven't been there and I'm so ashamed," why was Alex here?

"Well maybe this will cheer her up," Jaime said.
I walked into the living room and saw Alex, Vic, Mike, Jaime, and Tony. Was that a ice cream cake? They were throwing me a pity party. However, I hate pity, so now I was to pretend like my heart wasn't broken.

"Thanks guys. Who bought it?" I asked with a fake smile. Please don't see through my bullshit.

"I actually made it. I know how much you love chocolate and cookie dough," Vic smiled. God why couldn't Mike have made it? Vic burns water, or so his mother says.

"Oh thanks," do I hug him? Now I have to hug him. Oh no he's coming towards me. And everyone is staring at me.

What can I say? I'm a natural at making things awkward. While he went in for a hug I tried to dodge it. That ended with him running into a wall and me tripping. I turned to look at him, and pointed to my scar tears threatening to burst. It was silent but Jaime just started laughing. His laugh was contagious so I ended up laughing but it was so painful. Soon, everyone was laughing, I couldn't take the pain so I just smiled.

"Cake time!" Tony yelled. Alex was the first to hop in and slice up pieces. I'm pretty sure Vic's mom made it.
--
Today was good. I got to smile and laugh (for a bit) which never happens when I'm not in pain. Alex and Vic were being clingy. It made my stomach turn, not because it was them but any PDA makes me vomit. Ok so maybe it was sort of about them. "So Al, wanna talk to us about last night?" I looked up, to see Alex smiling slightly. God I fucking hated when she did that. I was so happy she was going to leave for LA.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Of course I couldn't get through the day without someone knocking on my goddamn door.

I opened the door to see a scrawny boy holding a beautiful pot of flowers in his hands. “Hi,” I smiled, I didn't know who he was.

“Oh, that was fast, Hey Allison. Uh, here.” He handed me the soft pink and white bulbs. “They’re your favorite right?”

“Oh yes! Peonies! Thank you so much!” I grinned, a peony was my favorite flower, but how did he know.. “How did you know they were my favorite, uhm,” I stuttered on his name.

“Oh yeah sorry, we’ve never actually talked, I’m Seth. I was in your stats class, and Vic told me. He said he talked to your mom.”

‘Well they are very beautiful, thank you so much Seth I-“

“Allison, Where are you! Hurry u- Oh hey Seth!” Vic showed up behind me, shadowing over us.
Seth was already tense, and Vic presence made it ten times worse.

“Hey Vic, I’ll be back in a second, Let me talk to him okay? Go away,” I whispered in Vic’s direction.

“Fine.” He mumbled, waving Seth a goodbye and walked behind to where only I could see him. Fuck off Fuentes, Try me.

I slowly grabbed the door handle and followed it outside. leaving just Seth and I on my front porch in the early morning. “Shit I’m so sorry, I should just go, Vic-your boyfriend,” I stopped him right there.

“No no no, That isn't what-No,” I giggled, “We are not dating, hah!”

“Oh haha, Well, I guess I’ll see you around Allison.” He held out his hand, and I gently shook it.
I watched him off as he turned around to face me, “Saturday, breakfast? 7:30 I’ll pick you up.”

“Just be here and I’ll take us!” I smiled and waved him off. I have a date.

I walked into the house, with a grin on my face. Vic was propped up against the door. “You are not going.” He sternly said.

“I’m sorry?” I snapped back, walking into my house. Everyone I guess has migrated up to my room. They’re about to have the best seats in the house.

“Do I have to fucking repeat myself? You. Are. Not. Going.” He pronounced every word with a loud sound.

“Yes. Yes I am. You have absolutely no right to tell me what I can, and can’t do Vic.” I laughed, setting the flowers on the desk in the office. He kept following me around the house, telling me no. “Yes I can Allison. I am not letting you go out with some scumbag.”

“First, he isn't a scum bag. Second, you don't know him. Third, who the fuck are you?” I yelled, I was extremely angry at this point and it was only getting worse.
“Allison, he's crazy-“ I cut him off,

“Okay what if he is? Let me figure that out myself Vic. You aren’t my dad. And you're such a hypocrite.” I glanced into his eyes, they were fuming.
“How the fuck am I the hypocrite?”

“Do you want a fucking book of reasons? You bashed me for letting Peter control my life when We had our little ‘fling’. You criticized Peter when you’re doing the same thing! Thanks for being so nice the past few days, but you're fucking crazy!”

“Fine, then I’ll leave.” He muttered, slamming the front door behind him.

My house fell silent, and everyone heard everything. They were sitting on my steps, Mike came first, then Tony, then Jaime, and last and definitely the least, Alex.
“Allison, Are you okay? God, I’m so sorry, I-“

“You cant do anything, Mike,” I snapped, staring right at the door, “Please go.” I opened the door for them all.

Alex stopped, “Please Al, tell me whats up. I’m so sorry.”
“Just leave.” I stared right into her warm eyes. She was leaving for L.A today.
__
My actions were harsh for the next few days, I briefly talked to Rachel on the phone as well as my mother. She is now in D.C, dealing with her job. I wish I was more involved in that. She never tells me anything, but I never ask. I got my stitches out, which was not what I wanted to do on a Friday morning in the summer. The scar started forming a lot quicker than I thought. It was itchy, and pink and I did not like it. Some good stuff came out of it.

I decided to dye my hair back to my original dark brown locks, and I flipped my hair, so my fringe wasn't as noticeable. I had more of a slightly off the middle part now. I really like it, I just don't know if brown is really my color.

It was now Saturday morning and I had a date with Seth. I got ready doing my simple makeup, and threw on my classic ‘Allison’ Attire. Which was something in-style. Today, it happened to be an blood orange romper, with long sleeves. There were a few stitching marks that made little designs in the sleeves and such. Also, I had a pair of black converse on and threw on a few bracelets. Why was I so nervous for this?

Probably because when I do hang out with a guy, There is always a fight. I walked downstairs and grabbed my keys, checking the house one last time making sure everything was locked and all that. Maybe Seth will come early? I thought, and soon enough he was here exactly at 7:30. “Hi Seth,” I smiled, walking out to my car.

“I like your new hair, Allison.” He smiled, sitting next to me as I started the car.

“Seth, you can call me Al, Alli, whatever floats your boat,” I smiled, “Oh yeah? Thanks. I needed a change from the royal blue.”

“Well I’m sure whatever you do, You’ll look beautiful.” Ah. My heart was melting at this point. I could feel my face start to blush. He was so sweet.

I couldn't help but stare as we drove to our destination. Seth was scrawny, had brown locks like mine with small eyes that fit his square lensed glasses. He was sarcastic.. Very. But all in the right ways. He had pretty smile, and a pretty face. “So how are you feeling?” He asked, as we sat down in this quiet littler dinner, Which would soon become our regular spot.

The question caught me off guard, “ Oh, I’m good,” I lied, “Thanks for asking. How did you know? Like about the incident..”

“Our parents are surprisingly good friends on the house floor. Your mom and my dad work together. So when your parents heard about the accident, They just told me to check up on you.”

“That makes sense. Thank you for the flowers too. They’re my favorite and they’re beautiful.” My soft eyes gazed into his. He was really sweet, and I was really hungry.
__
We talked throughout breakfast, about our parents, AP stats, and college. Seth doesn't know what he wants to do, he just knows he wants to stay in California. He was in Vic and I’s grade, very high ranked in the class. “So you're what, third or second?” I asked, sipping out of my water cup.

“As of right now, I’m third, but it’ll change senior year. What are you?” he asked.

“To be honest, I don't really know nor do I care. Maybe I’ll take a look.” I smiled, It was nice. We had already eaten, and now we were just talking. “Can you believ-“ My phone started to ring. I waved apologetically, as I pulled out my phone and answered it.
“Hello?”

“Allison help.” My sister, Rachel whispered into the phone. My heart sank. What could be wrong?

“Talk to me Rach, What’s up?” I stood up and walked outside towards my car, Seth following close behind me.

“There is someone in my house, I’m hiding-“

“Call the cops! I’m on my way over…” I hung up the phone and sped out of there.

“Is everything okay?” He asked, turning to face me.

“Well I hope it is.” I laughed slightly. This isn't a laughing matter Al. Your sister could be dead..
“There was someone in my sisters house. Or so she said.” I huffed, speeding down the long winding road that leads to her neighborhood.

It seemed long than it was, but when I was there, the cops had already been there, with Rachel on her way to the hospital, and her husband outside talking to the officers. “Hey I’m here, what happened?”

“I came home from the store, and she was upstairs-upstairs-“He choked, and tears started to fall from his face. I slowly patted his back, attempting to soothe him. He was in so much pain.
“I’m gonna go to the hospital, I’ll call you later.” I said, getting back in my car with Seth just sitting there. “Look, I am so sorry for this… I can take you home.”

“No Allison, It’s fine. I’d want someone with me if this was happening to me.” His lips parted into a small smile, and he placed his hands on mine and squeezed tight. I enjoyed this. Now though, it was time to see my sister.
