Selfish Machines

We arrived to school and I almost jumped out of the car, I can't be late again! Ms. Johnson will freak, she has this huge thing with me and I don't know why, its not like I'm a bad student.

I quickly rushed to my locker to grab my books, then I headed off to English. I walked into the class and Mike followed in shortly after me. Ms. Johnson looked up at as then said

"You two are late, if it happens again it will be detention. Now sit down before you waste any more of my time."

I rushed across the room to the very back and sat down, Mike walked right passed his friends and sat right beside me.... Of course, why can't he just leave me alone?

"Hey" Mike said with a smile.

"What do you want?" I said as I narrowed my eyes at him.

"You" he winked

"Well we all know that's not gonna happen but hey a boy can dream right?"

"Hey did you finish the homework from last night?" He said changing the subject

"Yeah, I actually think I did well on this one! I worked really hard in it I staid up all night" I grabbed the homework from last night and walked up to the front of the room. I handed Ms. Johnson the papers that were stapled together, she took a quick glance at the first paper barely skimming over it and then handed it back to me.

"So how did I do?" I asked kind of confused why she didn't read it.

" Redo it" she said as she went back to looking at her computer screen.

"What? Why?! It took me 3 hours to write this!" I asked angrily because I put so much time and effort into it and she didn't even fully read it.

"I said redo it now don't back talk me or I'll send you to the office."

"I worked my ass off on this paper!" I said raising my voice a bit.

"Maybe if you weren't busy parading your self around you could have worked harder" she said standing up

Did she just say what she think she said? "Excuse me?" I said fairly angry.

"I've seen you around with the Fuentes brothers so maybe if you weren't busy parading yourself around with them you might be able to get some work done."

I was just about to rip her head off but Mike pulled me away into the hall.

"What the hell happened?!" Mike asked

"I handed her my paper and she threw it away.... She didn't even read it! Then she basically called me a whore and said maybe if I wasn't busy parading myself around town with you and Vic I could actually do better." I said

Mike turned around and walked back into the class room, he looked like he about to explode.

I heard some yelling then I seen Mike walk out if the class room with mine and his stuff he grabbed my hand then pulled me down the hall and out if the school.

"Mike where are we going?" I asked but he just continued walking until we got to his car.

"Get in" he said

"Not till you tell me what just happened" I stated

"Get in and I'll tell you" he said with a sigh

I got into the passengers side and he hopped in the drivers seat. I have to admit he has a nice car, but that's not the point.

He put the key in the ignition and started the car. We were silent as he pulled out of the school parking lot. I heard my phone vibrate, I pulled it out of my pocket and saw I had one new message from my mom.

From Mom:
Hey, something came up at work and I have to catch a flight to L.A. I'll be gone 2 weeks, I left you some money for food love you.

Yay I'm being left alone for yet another two weeks, she always does this. I'm use to being alone though I'm better off that way, that's what I like about being an only child.

I decided to text her back

To Mom:
Bye

She quickly replied

From Mom:
If you want I can talk to Mana to see if you can stay there for the 2 weeks so you're not alone?

To Mom:
No it's fine I don't want to bother them

Mama was Vic and Mikes mom, I always loved her she was so nice. Her and my mom are good friends, which is one of the reasons me and Vic are best friends... We grew up together.

I heard Mikes phone go off, he quickly answered.

"Hello? Yes she's with me.... Okay I'll tell her by Mama love you too." He hung up and turned to me with a huge smile on his face.

"What?" I asked

"Mama said she'd love to have you over and won't take no for an answer"

"Okay can we stop at my house so I can grab my stuff?" I asked

"Of course" he smiled

Great now in stuck with Mike for 2 weeks...
