Chasing The Night

seven.

The vibes were high. Tonight had been the first night of The Spring Fever tour. The Sky’s Alive had take to the stage not expecting that much from the crowd due to their absence from the industry in the last two or so years, but they had been proved wrong. The crowd jumped around with them, cheered them on and screamed the lyric’s they had worked so hard on, back at them. It was more than they could have asked for.

A good show, lead to an even better party afterwards. The bands all headed over to Pierce The Veil’s bus after showing and changing, to celebrate the first night kicking off so well. As they headed over, Kate did the routine phone check as she had been texting Jared through out the day. There was one new message from her husband, which probably topped off the night being as good as it was.

Jared:I’ll see you in two days :)

He was actually coming out. Jared had actually made the time to come out and see her. He was going to see her play and she could finally show him exactly what she did and why she did it. Kate was ecstatic. There was no keeping the smile off the young girls face tonight. She quickly popped him a text back to let him know how happy she was before finally entering Pierce The Veil’s bus with the rest of her band.

Tony looked around the bus after seeing Kate’s fellow band mates enter. He was looking for her, but she didn’t appear to have arrived yet. Making himself another drink, he sighed. He hadn’t spoken to Kate since the first night and he was more than keen to talk to her tonight. The alcohol making it’s way to his head already, Tony just wanted her there with him. Finally he spotted the small brunette entering the bus, the biggest smile gracing her features. This caused Tony to automatically smile. He adored her smile more then anything.

Tony watched his ex girlfriend as she made her way gracefully through the bus, making jokes and conversation with various members of various bands. Kate had such a good way with people, she was always so good at making conversations with people and making new friends. That was one of the things that attracted Tony to her. Within 2 minutes of talking to Kate, Tony had been head over heels for the girl. Just watching her made his head ache. He missed her more than anything.

Finally, Kate made her way over to Tony, pulling him into a hug. She noticed the grin on his face and couldn’t help but smile. Tony’s goofy smile was one of the many things that Kate loved about the boy. Any chance she had to make him smile, she would because seeing him smile made he incredibly happy. “Tony turtle!” She grinned, pulling his tall figure into a hug. Another thing she loved about him was how he held her, so tightly and safely. He still held her the same way as he had 3 years ago.

Reluctantly, Tony pulled away from the hug. As much as he would have loved to have kept her there in his arms, he knew he couldn’t without it being weird. “You did so well tonight.” He smiled down at her, keeping one arm around her. “I missed seeing you take the stage.”
“And I’ve missed taking the stage.” Kate admitted. “It feels good to be back.”

“Which leads me to ask, why haven’t you toured since. . .” Tony started, not realizing it was bringing up their fight until he had said it. “Well, since we last toured together.”

Kate shrugged. She couldn’t say that it was because she had gotten married, she wasn’t ready to tell him that just yet. “Life just got busy.” She explained. “Touring just wasn’t a possibility until now.”

Tony nodded. “Everything okay though?”

“More than okay.” She smiled. “What about with you, how’s things been besides touring?”

“It has it’s ups and downs.” He admitted. Most of his downs had been missing Kate. In the 3 years they had been over there had been no one that had even compared to her. He came close, or so he thought, when he met Stephanie but she just wasn’t Kate.

“Well I say that things are going to start looking up for both of us.” Kate smiled up at Tony. “I say we are going to kick ass from now on and things are going to be better than ever!”

Holding his cup out to her, Tony couldn’t help but smile. “I’ll cheers to that!”

Without thinking, Kate held out her hand with her cup in it to cheers against Tony’s. This hand also happened to be the hand with her wedding ring sitting on her finger. Tony’s smile and his mood dropped. This confused Kate until she looked down at her hand.

“Is that. . .?” Tony asked, hurt evident in his voice. Not trusting her voice, Kate looked down and just nodded. “You got married?”

“Tony, I was going to tell you.” Kate sighed. “I just didn’t know how.”

Tony held up his hand, not wanting to hear anymore. It’s not that he was horribly mad at Kate, he was just hurt. He should have known that he had no chance. He should have listened to Vic. “I need some air.”

“Tony please.” Kate begged, but he ignored her and made his way out the door of the bus. Sighing, Kate followed him. She needed to explain to him. She didn’t want to loose their chance at being close again.

Vic watched Kate follow Tony out of the bus. This worried him, given the circumstances between the two of them. Excusing himself from the conversation with Jaime and Max, Vic followed the pair out of the bus to keep and eye on them.

“I’m so sorry, Tony.” Kate sobbed. “I swear I was going to tell you as soon as I knew how too.”

“Well it’s too late for that, Kate.” Tony yelled. “Did I mean that little to you that in 3 years, you could move on that fast?”

“Of course not!” Kate retorted. “I loved you more than anything, Tony.”

Loved. Past tense of Love. That word hit Tony harder than anything. She wasn’t in love with him anymore. He was in her past. With alcohol coursing through his viens, his emotions ran wild. He couldn’t control his anger anymore, his fist swung at the bus causing him to groan as the pain ran up his arm. “Then why did you leave?”

Seeing this, Vic raced in to stop Tony hurting himself anymore. Grabbing Tony’s arms, he held him back.

“I was scared, Tony.” Kate broke down. “I was so in love with you and that scared me to death. Then the fact that you wanted me to move away from my family and friends, they were my safety net and I was too scared of loosing that.”

“I was scared too!” Tony yelled. “You have no idea how much it scared me feeling the way I did about you. How I still feel about you.”

“I’m sorry.” She sobbed.

“Kate, he’s had too much to drink, just leave it for now.” Vic begged, not wanting to see either of them hurt. “Please.”

Kate simply nodded, feeling horrible. Not wanting to hurt anyone else, she made her way back to her bus. Her heart was breaking watching Tony like that. Then to find out he still had feelings for her, this changed everything for Kate. More than she was comfortable with.
