Chasing The Night

six.

Kate woke up that morning with hope. Today, she was going to call Jared and fix things with him. She married him for a reason and after only a year and a half, she wasn't going to give up. Feeling positive, Kate popped her wedding band back on her finger and smiled. She knew this was where it belonged. Pulling herself out of her bunk, she made her way to the front lounge and kitchen area to make herself a coffee. Jesse and Matt were, to Kate's surprise, already awake. They were both seated at the table tapping away at their phones. "Morning boys!" Kate grabbed the coffee pot off the bench and poured herself a cup. "Someone's cheery." Jesse remarked at his fellow band mate. "What's with that?" Kate shrugged, not really sure how to explain it to the boys. "I've just got a good feeling about today." The pair just nodded at her, before turning back to their phones. Sighing at the boys lack of enthusiasm the boys had, Kate made her way out into the back lounge, deciding to tackle the phone call with Jared straight up. Anxiously, Kate pulled out her phone and hit Jared's contact number, placing the phone to her ear. After around 4 rings, Jared picked up the phone. "Hello?" "Hey, it's me." "Oh, hey." Jared sounded surprised. "How's tour?" "It's good so far." She smiled. "But I miss you, a lot." "I miss you too." "I'm sorry about how I left things before I went." Kate really wasn't sure of how to word this. She had never really fought with Jared up until now, so all of this was new to her. "I know it was wrong." "I'm sorry too." Jared sighed. "I'm just not used to having to share you around." "You don't have to share me, Jared." She bit her lip, understanding his point. "I'm all yours." This caused Jared to laugh a little, lifting the tension from the phone call. "I know, but you're not here with me and all these other people get to spend over a month with you now." "Come out and see me?" Kate didn't want to push it, but she also wanted Jared to feel included in this part of her life. She got that having your wife all the way across the country was a big thing and she needed him to be comfortable with that. "Things are hectic here, love." He sighed. "But I'll try for next week sometime?" Kate couldn't help but smile. "Sounds good!" After another 15 minutes or so, Kate hung up feeling good. She had a more positive outlook on her marriage again, knowing that their first hardship was sorted out. As much as people could make judgements in her marriage, thinking that Jared wasn't good for her, she knew different. She had married him for a reason. She loved him, and that was enough to get her through anything. Marriage was about compromise and sometimes that meant backing down. Kate was slowly learning to understand this and learn how to handle it. She felt mature and content in that very moment, and she was proud of that. "Kate!" Mitch calling her name, snapped her out of her thoughts. She walked down to the front lounge to join the rest of her band. "We have sound check for tomorrow in about an hour." "Have you got the time table?" Kate asked. Mitch handed her the two pieces of paper on his hand. According to the line up, The Sky's Alive were playing second, just after You Me At Six. The other piece of paper had today's schedule of sound checks, interviews, meal breaks and all the little tour ins and outs. By the looks of it, the band didn't have any media or interviews for today, just the sound check after lunch. The Sky’s Alive grabbed a quick lunch from catering before heading inside the venue just in time for sound check that afternoon. You Me At Six were currently on stage running through their last 10 or minutes of sound check, just to give the sound and lighting guys of the tour some idea of how each band liked and needed things before the first show tomorrow night. “Can I have a little more vocals in my left ear?” Josh asked, fielding with the microphone in front of him. The sound guy gave him a quick thumbs up and Josh broke into the chorus of Loverboy to text the sound. Throwing his thumbs up back at the sound guy, he turned to the rest of the boys in the band. “We’re done?” The five British boys headed off the stage and made their way towards Kate and the boys, who were waiting patiently for their turn on stage. They all exchanged quick hello’s as the YMAS boys had press and had to leave, but said they would catch up tonight for drinks. With that, The Sky’s Alive took to sound check with smiles plastered on their faces. Kate woke up that morning with hope. Today, she was going to call Jared and fix things with him.
