Chasing The Night

Vic, Mike and Jaime sat in the practice room at Mike’s place, waiting for the last member on their band to arrive. Vic was thankful that Tony was going to be late to practice because he needed to talk to Mike and Jaime alone first. The Pierce The Veil boys had been offered a headlining position on an upcoming tour around America. This was an opportunity that they boys would usually jump at. There was just one small problem with the line up which Vic needed to talk to the boys about. “Guy, uh. We got a tour offer.” Vic started. “It’s a pretty big tour with an amazing line up but. .”
“But what?” Jaime asked. “We've been keen to get back on the road for months now, what’s the problem?”
“One of the support bands.” Vic sighed. “It’s The Sky’s Alive.”
“Oh shit.” Mike muttered. “Tony would flip.”
“How big of an offer are we talking?” Jaime asked, curious to see what they would be turning down.
“Four weeks on the road, right across the country. You Me At Six, All Time Low and Mayday Parade as supports.” Vic listed off. “Plus, it’s pretty good money.”
“Of all tours for Tony’s ex’s band to be on, why this one?” Mike groaned. “It’s pretty much flawless.”
“Besides the fact that Tony also has no idea she’s married.” Jaime sighed. “Considering she pretty much cut everyone off after that tour.”
‘That’ tour had been 3 years ago. Pierce The Veil took to their first headlining tour with up and coming, female fronted, pop punk band, The Sky’s Alive. This was the second tour the two bands had done together. The first, just over a year before that where Tony and The Sky’s Alive lead singer, Kate had hit it off. The couple had been together over a year when it came to the end of their second tour and up until the last night of that tour, the pair couldn't have been happier. No one besides Kate or Tony know what happened that night, all they know is that Kate and her band had left straight after they played that night and no one heard from her again. Tony, on the other hand, was left a mess. Still three years later, he wasn't the same.
“Have The Sky’s Alive actually confirmed that they are in?” Mike asked. “We don’t want to bring it up with him all for them to say no.”
Vic nodded. “All the bands have confirmed they are in, they’re just waiting on us for a go ahead.”
“How long do we have to decide?”
“The end of the week.”
The three members sat in silence, each of them weighing up the options. It was an amazing opportunity and any other time it wouldn't have even been a question. They all knew how in love with Kate, Tony was. To this day it hurt him more than anything. They couldn't imagine the reaction they would get him if they even asked, especially when he finds out that she went off and got married. “We have to do this.” Jaime spoke up. “We just have too.”
“He’s going to flip, Jaime.” Mike sighed.
“He would flip more if he found out we turned down a massive opportunity without even asking him.” Jaime reasoned. “We have to at least give him the option.”
“Jaime’s right.” Vic agreed. “Besides, it’s been three years, guys. He has to move on.”
“It may be good for him.”
“What will be good for who?” Tony’s voice drifted to the boys ears, each of them nervously turning to face him.
“Uh, we got a tour offer.” Jaime explained. “It’s a pretty big one too.”
“Sweet. When do we leave?” Tony smiled. Truth be told, he missed touring and if this was as big of a tour as the boys said, he was stoked.
“We haven’t said yes yet.” Vic sighed. Pulling out his phone, he brought up the email he had received. Scrolling down to the tour poster, Vic handed Tony the phone. Tony’s face paled as soon as he read the line up. His heart raced and he felt physically sick. Upon seeing his reaction, the boys looked to each other nervously.
“You can say no, Tone.” Mike told him. He didn’t want Tony to feel guilty if he couldn’t bring himself to do it. None of the boys did.
Tony shook his head. “How can we say no to this?” He sighed. “It’s incredible and we have nothing else lined up, nothing that could compare to this.”
“It’s pretty big.” Jaime sighed. “But we can’t have you feeling like shit either.”
Tony smiled. He really appreciated how much the boys cared and how they really did have his back through thick and thin. Now it was his turn. He had to man up and face that he was going to see Kate again. “It’s honestly fine. I’d kick myself if I missed out on this tour.”
Cheers and high fives broke out in the room as the boys celebrated. “Looks like we’re going on tour, boys!” Jaime yelled, pulling Tony into a hug. Tony grinned. Little did the boys realise, Tony’s head was filling with thoughts and plans on how to get Kate back. He would make her his again.
