Let Me In

Hit Me

Sarah’s POV

We walked into the Venetian’s Casino and I was as shocked as I had been the moment we had walked into our hotel. It was seriously out of this world. I had heard a lot about Vegas’ casinos but I don’t think I was completely ready for what I was experiencing, but I loved it anyway. We were all walking kind of in a mob style and somehow we managed to go without the boys getting noticed; it’s not that they minded being noticed, they loved their fans with all they’ve got, but sometimes it felt nice to be treated like normal people rather than the way celebrities are treated. We went to the check in area and we traded some cash for chips in order to gamble and then we all kind of parted ways for a little. Mike knew I’d never gambled before and so he wanted to teach me some tricks before we joined the rest.

First we hit the roulette station which was pretty self explanatory: you place bets on single numbers or a range of numbers and whether it’s red or black, or whether it’s an odd or even number. Mike really enjoyed roulette and his wins and loses were pretty even so we moved over from there quickly. We walked over to the craps table but when the man started explaining the game to us, he lost me due to the hundreds of little rules and tricks and structures of the game. Finally we settled on the poker tables; it was Texas Hold’Em poker, but it was very hard to understand what was going on, at least for me. There were a bunch of folds, limits, blinds, bets and a bunch of names that I was having a little trouble understanding and so I just stood right behind Mike and saw him work his magic.

His first moves were small little bets as he get the feel of the table. He lost his first two games and then his luck began to build up as the rounds kept going, and so did his betting. He clearly knew what he was doing and he was playing his chips as smartly as he could. He’d been winning big money ever since the second game, which he lost. He seemed to know exactly when to move, exactly when to put chips and that’s when I realized he was a little more experienced than I thought. I think that by the end of his rounds at the table he must have at least gotten an extra half of what we started with.

“Did I bore you?” He asked me as we walked to another table.

“Of course you didn’t, that was amazing!” I responded, holding onto his arm as we walked around the casino. “I didn’t really understand much though,” I laughed making him smile as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. The past twenty four hours had been so crazy: us coming to Vegas and actually declaring our feelings for each other, him calling me his girlfriend officially; all of it was still a little hard to believe, however it felt right. I feel like we had already been kind of dating earlier but now it all seemed - well was - so real.

“Okay, let’s find an easier game for you to play,” he offered and began to list many names: craps, roulette, blackjack, flushes gone wild and many others.

“Uhm, the one that sounds the most familiar is Blackjack, so maybe we can go there?” I suggested and he nodded with a smile.

We headed to the Blackjack tables, which were supposed to be one of the easiest card games in the casino and Mike kept insisting that I’d be able to understand it and hopefully win some games.

“The point of Blackjack is to get 21. The King, Queen and Jack are tens and the Ace can be an eleven or a one, depending on what you need. Any one card that counts as a ten and an ace automatically make a twenty one. Your goal is to beat the dealer.” he explained.

“Oh you know, I think I’ve actually played this game before but without money at stake,” I said as we got ready to put money on the table.

“I’d recommend to start low,” Mike suggested but that was my intent anyway. I had never made a bet in my life so I needed to play safe until I got the hang of the game at least. I started with three dollars and the dealer dealt the cards.

“Well you’re off to a great start,” Mike said as the dealer revealed two jacks in front of me which made a twenty. “Okay so what happens next is that the dealer offers more cards to other players to try to get as close to twenty one as they can by ‘hitting’ them. You’re at twenty so you shouldn’t hit it,” The dealer went on and automatically eliminated the three people to my right, skipped me and then the other two people remained in the game, both with eighteens. The dealer’s top card was a seven and once we were all done, he quickly turned his upside down card to reveal a ten and making his total a seventeen. The house rules state that all dealers must stand on a seventeen which meant we all won.

“I won!” I cheered hugging Mike in celebration “this doesn’t seem too hard,” I said and made my bet for the next game; now I was really beginning to enjoy casino night.

Mike and I stayed at the Blackjack table for quite some time, and I clearly had gotten the hang of it because by the end of our stay I had at least tripled my money; all in one sitting. I had followed Mike’s advice and I was sneaky and careful with my betting but whenever I went big, I won big. Mike even asked me if I’d been counting cards but after all the stupid talks we’d had before we had established that my math skills weren’t the best in the world. One time we went out for coffee and I couldn’t calculate how much to tip the waitress, and Mike had never allowed me to forget about that.

“You were so good back there,” he told me as he took a hold of my hand and began to walk towards the entrance of the casino where we met up with the rest of the group to cash in our chips.
“Damn, seems like you two were on fire!” Tony screamed as he saw us walking towards them.

“It was mainly all Sarah, really,” Mike said, bumping shoulders with me softly.

“I thought you’d never played before!” Vic added, making me blush.

“I never had, really I guess I just got lucky!”

Jaime began to argue with Vic since he had clearly won more money and they debated over who was a better poker player, comparing the famous poker faces however they were both terrible and they made us all laugh as we cashed in our chips. Mike and I had almost tripled our money, Jaime, Erin, Vic and Danielle had doubled theirs and the rest of the people had just gained a little; I obviously had to rub that on Vic’s face, considering he had always made fun of my gambling skills. We were all thirsty and ready to drink so we decided to head back to the hotel and really begin to party PTV style.

MIKE’S POV

When we arrived to the hotel we left our cars at the valet stands and headed straight inside towards the bar. It was just as extravagant as the entire hotel, but then again all of Vegas was extravagant so it was to expect. The name of the bar was Center Bar and, just like the name states it all of the chairs, booths and couches were laid around a huge, circular bar in the middle of the room. There were a lot of people in but we managed to fit our entire party in one of the corners of the room. We were all ready to blow off the steam of the week and indulge in some special Vegas cocktails. The menu contained different cocktails, martinis, wines and beers and a very particular selection that was supposed to be very unique to this particular bar.

“Welcome to the Center Bar what can I get for you?” the waitress said as she walked to our booth with a basket of crackers and began to take our orders: Vic ordered a Blue Angel, Tony and Jaime ordered All Nighters, Jessica and Danielle ordered Fu Fu Cachus, Erin got a Pear of Aces, Sarah chose a Purple Sage, Casey got a Cherry Mule and I ordered a Fire on Ice. “I’ll be right back with your drinks, you guys,” she said after taking note of it all and walking away from us.

“So Sarah, did you like your first gambling experience?” Casey asked as he took a cracker.

“Overall it was really fun, I think Blackjack was my favorite though,”

“Of course, you slayed that dealer out of so much money!” I responded, wrapping my arm around her. I was happy that Sarah was having a good time with the boys, and even the girls; her relationship with Erin was still touchy, but at least no snarky comments had been exchanged and that was all that mattered at this point. It was a very hard concept to get used to, being in crowds and Sarah never thought she’d be involved in this sort of lifestyle so her having a good time was all that I could think of.

“I had a good teacher,” she leaned a little towards me, almost pressing her head against my chest so I made a quick move and kissed her lips softly and lightly, making everyone tease us. It felt nice to be this open with Sarah, however it was still a little hard to wrap my head around the fact that we were together - but in a good way. We talked for a little about stupid things like we usually did, and in no time our drinks were at the table.

“The owner sends a complementary set of shots, special house blend,” the waitress said, giving each of us a shot glass as well as our drinks.

“Oh man, we’d never say no to free drinks wouldn’t we?” Tony said, happily reaching for his drinks.

“To a great evening, great company and a great show tomorrow!” I raised my shot glass and everyone followed as we chugged the shots and slammed the glasses on the table, almost fully in sync. “That’s the stuff!”

The rest of the night went by in a blur. We ordered a couple more drinks and talked about very random topics as well as introduced Sarah a little bit to the tour life. We talked to her about what to expect of the pre-show as well as the after show, and everything in between. The girls talked about their first experience in a concert and some of the best stories they had and the next thing we knew it was around three in the morning and so we decided to call it a night.

“Oh shit I forgot my purse!” Sarah said and ran back into the bar.

“Do you want us to wait for you?” Vic asked but I shook my head and so everyone else left and I stayed at the front of the bar, waiting for Sarah. It didn’t take her too long and within a couple of minutes she was out.

“Did everyone leave?”

“Yeah we’ll see them in the morning, if we wake up,” I laughed and she followed. We walked hand in hand into the elevator, pressed the button and turned towards each other.

“I had a great time, Mike,”

“I’m glad you did, I had a lot of fun too,” I responded, our eyes never parting; her eyes were even brighter underneath the neon lights of the elevator and I just kept thinking about how beautiful she was.

I couldn’t imagine this moment getting better... and then she wrapped her arms around my neck and I felt her lips tightly pressed against mine.
