The New Family Member

Epilogue 2

Tony’s POV

We were still touring, still managing to do it despite our situation. However, this was going to be one of the last shows we played at a complete band of us 5 people. It was going to happen sometime, and that was now. 4 years after Kalila was born. She grew up to be such a beautiful little girl, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. Even though she was just as spunky and hyper as when she was still in the womb, she was still my little angel. Over the years she started to look more and more like Noortje at that age, only with black hair and a skin tone that was a lot more tan. As a baby, she looked so much like me, but not as much anymore. Of course, you could still find many things you could also see in me. Everything about her was perfect to me, and I loved her to bits.

She tried climbing onto Noortje’s lap, who was sitting on one of the couches on the opposite side of the room. Two of us were going to do an interview, so we rearranged the furniture in the dressing room a bit, so there would be a better set up. Noortje helped our daughter up, laughing a bit at her clumsiness. Kalila turned around so she was facing her mother, and tried hugging her by climbing up a bit further.

Noortje held the small body so nothing stupid would happen, and laughed, “be careful. You don’t want something to happen to your little brother, right?”

Kalila shook her head furiously and lifted Noortje’s shirt up a bit so she could kiss her stomach, “no! But how did he get in here? Did you eat him!”

“Of course not,” Noortje giggled at the girl who constantly kept asking questions about anything she could, “daddy ordered him, so he arrived in my belly, and I have to keep him safe until he’s finally ready to meet you.”

“Like you order things off the internet?” Kalila squirmed around so she was now sitting properly on her mother's lap.

“Yeah,” Noortje grinned and shook her head, shooting me a wink.

So, yeah, you heard all of that right. Noortje was pregnant again, a bit over 7 months to be exact, but this time with a baby boy. As soon as Kalila was born, I knew I was going to want another baby. Like, I was ready to start straight away, but that obviously didn’t happen. A bit after Kalila’s 4th birthday, we went to The Netherlands to visit, as Kalila would call them, ‘Ewo, Ti, and Oma’. So, basically Noortje’s brother, brother in law, and her mother. We were lucky enough to be able to let Ewout and Ties babysit her for a week, they were in the process of adopting and were glad to see how everything would go, and Noortje and I were happy to get a week all by ourselves. We decided to stay somewhere close to mountains in Germany, and did not just use that time to go on hikes. Actually, we had seriously been thinking about trying to get pregnant again, so we went right at it. Fortunately for us, we actually managed to do it that week, and did not have the months of trying we had with Kalila. Because, seriously, that girl would stay awake for long, would walk into our room at random times, and would tire us out before she was tired. There was barely anytime for just Noortje and I to have some fun… if you know what I mean.

When we announced the pregnancy to Kalila, we were pretty afraid of her reaction. She was so used to having all the attention on her; our attention, family member’s attention, all the attention for the band and crew. We just didn’t know how she was going to react, because she rarely got jealous, but when she did, it was really really bad. She would throw tantrums and start screaming. But Noortje and I never gave in. It might sound cruel, but she had to learn certain things: crying wouldn’t work to get what you wanted. Sometimes she’d get really mad at us, or even stop talking to us, but in the end she would always come back.

Kalila was playing with the ring on Noortje’s left ring finger, “will you guys get married again when he’s born?”

This time is was might turn to explain, so I walked up to her, and got down to her level, kissing her forehead, “no, mommy and I are already married, so we don’t have to do that again. Maybe uncle Vic will though.”

I could just feel the eye rolling going on while Vic sighed, “maybe, but not yet.”

So, Noortje and I were still the only ones that got married and had children in the band. Jaime and Jessica had gotten engaged, though, but we already knew the date for their wedding. So, it was a recurring joke, making fun of Vic, that is. He was still hoping on everything just falling in place, and wasn’t rushed with those things. I, however, knew that just waiting it out wasn’t really going to get you any closer. Girls expect the guy to make the move, so I believed it was the same for Danielle.

But, let me tell you a bit about our wedding. It was the most beautiful, extraordinary, and nerve wracking day of my life -- of course Kalila’s birth was also at the very top of that list, but this just seemed to make everything so much more real! Everything would be just that bit more official. But I was still afraid that Noortje was going to change her mind. She had been against marriage for so long, and when she said yes to marrying me, I was actually surprised. But why ask somebody to marry them without being sure? Well, I was pretty sure, but while I was doing it, I kept remembering every other time I tried to propose to her and she said she didn’t want to marry yet -- this was before we had Kalila, bare in mind -- so, all these thoughts were running through my head. But in the end, all was well. Noortje looked beautiful in her wedding dress; I might have shed a tear or two. Her dress was simple: white, elegant, and nothing too frilly. She was just perfect. And all our friends and family joined us, expect for Noortje’s sister and her father. Ewout walked her to the aisle and I could tell how happy she was. Everything was the way it was supposed to be.

So, back to the interview; starting our story with an interview, so we have to finish it with that as well.

Jaime and I were going to do it together, meaning that I was probably going to have to answer a couple of questions as well. And with this recent change, I knew that most questions would also be directed at me. They always wanted to know about our lives, especially since the band grew even more. However, if they were going to ask about the new album, which we had released, Jaime was probably the one who could word it better. Vic and Mike had quickly decided to take advantage of the situation and explored the venue and hung out with the other bands. However, Noortje and Kalila were still here.

“Do you want to watch daddy and uncle Hime-Time answer some questions?” Noortje asked our daughter and ran her fingers through her hair.

Kalila nodded, very excited to see me do anything related to work, and shuffled around a bit, “yes! Yes, yes, yes!”

“You’ll have to be calm and stay quiet though,” Noortje told her and held her still.

“I can do that!” Kalila said proudly, “I’m a big girl now!”

“She is,” Jaime agreed and nodded, “she’s almost five now!”

“Exactly, but only in two months!”

Yeah… so another small problem… let’s just say baby number two was due in the same week as Kalila’s birthday… or maybe more specifically on her birthday…. We hadn’t exactly told Kalila about this, not wanting her to freak out about it, or worry that all the attention would leave her on her ‘special day’. But there was a high chance our baby boy was going pop out in the middle of the birthday girl’s party. So… we still kind of had to figure that out.

“Already!” Jaime gasped and took his seat for the interview, next to me, “but you look so much older!”

Kalila giggled and blushed, always liking it when she was mistaken for older than she actually was. But, I mean, who wasn’t happy to hear that at that age? I, on the other hand, was dreading getting older; I was in my mid thirties! It was all going by so fast!

And then the interview started. The first couple of questions were about the new album, which Jaime managed to answer very well, me occasionally adding something as well. Kalila surprisingly managed to stay quiet and still the entire time, but then questions were directed at me.

“So, Tony, big thing are happening in your life again, aren’t they?” The interviewer asked me with a smile, only giving Nootje and Kalila also a quick glance.

“Yes,” I nodded and grinned widely, “baby number two’s due date keeps coming closer and we’ll be moving soon as well.”

“Oh moving? Where to?”

“Well, since Noortje’s leaving the band, for obvious reasons, she’s already found a new job. It’s a small company starting off in the graphic design business, and it’s in The Netherlands. We already managed to sell our house back in San Diego, and we found a new house, it a renovated farm house with a big back yard, so our dog and the kids will be able to play around, and coincidentally, Noortje’s brother and his husband are moving to the same area. We didn’t plan that out, it just happened.”

“So, moving to Europe, that must be a big change for you. What will happen to the tours?” the interviewer asked, knowing that the flight from Europe to America was pretty long.

I shrugged, not thinking too much of it, “well, after this tour we will have a longer break, and then after that we will start again. I don’t think it will make much of a difference otherwise, I will have have to fly more often. But whenever we do have a European tour, it will mean I’m closer to home, and they always take a while longer than US tours, so that will be quite nice.”

“And how’s your Dutch?”

“Terrible,” I laughed, “I will really have to work on that. Especially since I don’t think we’ll be moving back to the states for a while, if we ever do. I do, however, know how to say my name is Tony.”

“Will you say it for us?”

My pronunciation was very terrible and it probably sounded very weird, but I still did it, “mijn naam is Tony.”

Kalila started giggling very loudy, confirming that I did indeed say it very weirdly. She had been getting Dutch lessons from Noortje, so she wouldn’t have any trouble if we were to move to The Netherlands. So, it was a pretty good thing that we did it. And I knew that our babies’ first language was probably going to be Dutch, since they would be going to a Dutch school, but I didn’t mind.

This family was mine and it was perfect. I would never have it any other way.

Notes

So that's all for this story. This is the end. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it. This was the first fanfiction I ever wrote, so there are so many things I find that I could improve on. And I'm really tempted to rewrite it all, but I'm not going to do it. I believe the mistakes is what this makes the story just that tiny bit more special for me, if you know what I mean. It's not just the plot that's important, but the writing itself is too.

I don't think I'll be starting a new story soon, so you'll just have to do with the story The Broken Connection, which is a collab story that I'm writing with Nickyvlxx (you might know her from The Pact, or 24 hours. And I can tell you that shit is officially about to go down there, so go check it out if you haven't already. Also, I do have an idea for a story, and I have the first chapter planned out. But I think I want to plan out that whole story, and have it be much shorter than this one, before I actually start writing it. So that might still take a while. However, it will be based on a TV show, so it will be a pretty short story, but maybe the chapters will be much longer.

And then lastly. Thank you to anyone who has read this story and supported me through out it. It means so much to me. I'll miss writing this story for you guys, but unfortunately this is the official end now. Once again, I hope you enjoyed it. And thank you so so much.

@Nickyvlxx
You still have one epilogue to go ;) but it's still in progress, so now you also have to wait patiently :P
Good luck with the ATL stories, by the way, I hope they don't bore you.

@aweirdkindofyellow
Wow, someone's been keeping busy ;) but don't push yourself, if you don't have time, you don't have time. I mean you're doing 3 at once! That's amazing! Just let me know when you've posted the new one! ;*

@Thebandobsessedgirlwithnolife
Yep, it was my first, and you can definitely tell by how badly The New Member is written at the very beginning. And I'm thinking of starting a new story, I have an idea, but I already have three stories going on (two on the ATL website and the collaborative story I'm writing on here) so I'll have to see when I can write it. I first want to plan it out completely, so it might take a while.

@aweirdkindofyellow
That was your first?! Holy! I can't wait for you to write more then! You did an amazing job! <33
