The New Family Member

Friends and a Call

Noortje’s POV

After being washed off and wrapped tightly in a blanket, Kalila was given back to me. I was so relieved to finally have gotten it over and done with. Instead of being born on the 29th of October, like expected, Kalila was born on the 12th of November. Never would I have ever thought to have nearly been giving birth in a car. Kalila was just too excited to come out and made me skip the whole first stage of labour. It was pretty fucking terrifying to know the baby was coming while not even being close to the hospital.

Tony was so careful while holding her for the first time. He was so afraid of hurting her, and shook while moving his hands very slowly and cautiously. While he was trying to figure out how to do that, I was finally allowed to put on some clothes. There was still a lot of blood gushing out of me and I felt pretty uncomfortable in just some panties and a pad. I was able to fit into a large shirt that belonged to Tony and covered the rest of myself with the blanket.

“Do you want me to bring in the others?” Tony asked me and he looked down at Kalila lovingly.

I nodded and shifted a bit in the bed to make my legs stop tingling, “better do it now before I fall asleep.”

“Ok,” Tony stood up and clumsily handed me our beautiful little girl before giving me a kiss on the forehead, “I think my mom and Isa should be here as well, so be prepared for a lot of people.”

I chuckled and wrapped my arms around the small body, her eyes opening just barely opening as she let out small noises from her opening and closing mouth. She was so precious and I was already so in love with her.

Tony left the room and returned with five people behind him. He had probably told them not to be too loud, since they were all really quiet when they entered the room and saw me with a small creature in my arms. I was starting to feel really awkward with all their stares, but luckily the youngest of them all decided to break the silence.

“Oh my god! I’m an aunt!” Isabel ran up to me and noticed the color of the blanket the baby was wrapped in, “can I hold her? What’s her name? Can I hold her?”

Claudia came up after her, “Isabel, be careful, just let Noortje hold the baby for now.”

“Can I at least know the name?” Isobel whined.

Claudia pulled Isobel to one of the chairs and made her sit down. Jaime, Vic and Mike decided to sit as well instead of standing around awkwardly. They were probably too afraid to make Kalila cry, and I totally understood. I was also very afraid of making her cry and not being able to stop her.

“I actually also kind of want to know the name,” Vic pointed out, being able to see the wriggling baby a bit better from his seat.

“Oh yeah, right,” Tony took her from me again and asked Vic if he wanted to hold her, making Isobel moan about her not being allowed to as well. Vic gracefully accepted and managed to hold Kalila and support her head without too much trouble. He seemed so amazed by the small human being he could hold with only one hand. Tony sat down next to him, “her name’s Kalila Emelia.”

“That’s a beautiful name,” Mike said while looking at the baby being held by his older brother.

“Tony came up with it in the bathtub,” I laughed, wanting the quiet atmosphere to be a bit more active.

“Hey, I’m not blaming him,” Vic grinned, “I made some of the best lyrics in the weirdest places ever.”

After everyone had been able to hold Kalila for a short while, even Isabel, she came back to me and Tony took a seat next to me again. When Claudia got to hold her, some tears were shed by the now grandmother. She thought Kalila was such a beautiful baby and couldn’t believe she was actually a grandma. Surprisingly, though, Kalila hadn’t even made a sound when being handed along the row of people. I expected her to burst out into tears just like the first couple of times Tony and I switched her between the two of us.

“Do you want to announce the whole thing now?” Vic suddenly suggested after secretly having taken a photo of Tony kissing my forehead and me holding Kalila, “this photo would work perfectly.”

Tony and I looked at the photo and agreed. We had already told our friends over a group text that Kalila had finally been born, and we had already gotten a couple of mentions on twitter from them. They were all fague, just like we had told them to, most of them being along the lines ‘congratulations @NoortjeOtt @Tony_Turtle’. The fans were going crazy about wanting to know what it was all about, and when Vic, Jaime, and Mike also said something, the speculations started. Some people really didn’t have a clue, but others started to piece things together. When the rumours started, Tony and I posted the same tweet:

The photo had a small caption with it:
After nearly giving birth in the car and being escorted by the police, Kalila Emelia Perry is finally here!

Soon after that the whole fandom exploded with excitement. Not only was there a new small member for PTV, but their one true ship had officially sailed. I could only imagine how excited they were about everything. And now Tony and I could live our family life without having to hide anything. It was basically a win win situation.

----

Only Claudia decided to stay the night with Tony and I in the hospital. After some complaining from the teenager, Isabel finally agreed to stay with Vic and Danielle for the night. It was quite a shame that Vic’s girlfriend and one of my best friends wasn’t able to be here, but she was in another state for a photoshoot until late in the evening. However, she promised she was going to visit as soon as Tony and I got settled in with Kalila at home. She didn’t want to interrupt and intrude on anything.

I looked at the time and sat up straight in bed, “it’s morning where Ewout is, he should be awake. I want to tell him before he get’s too mad about us putting it up for the world to see before he got the news.”

“Ok,” Tony smiled and looked back down at the baby who was now wrapped in a different blanket. He had put his glasses on, taken his shirt off and was having some skin to skin time with our small bundle of joy. It was pretty late already, but Kalila had made sure to keep us up for a bit longer. And I was pretty glad Claudia was here. She knew exactly what was wrong whenever Kalila started crying. Without her, Tony and I would have been completely lost.

I took out my phone and FaceTime called my favourite brother, and only brother, in the whole entire world. He answered in no time, and I was met with his smiling face, causing me to grin back. What made my smile falter, though, was the fact that he was sitting at the breakfast table in my parents’ house with my sister, parents, and his husband. Yes, I really liked Ties, but I couldn’t stand the other three people there.

“What’s up, Munchkin?” My brother shoved some cereal into his mouth while the other members sitting at the table looked at me.

“There’s someone I'd like you to meet,” I flipped the camera and slowly shuffled out of the bed before walking up to Tony and showing the baby that was finally starting to fall asleep again.

“Oh my god!” Ewout squealed, “she’s so cute! Can I keep her!”

“I’m sorry,” Tony chuckled and I put him in frame, “she’s mine. I cannot allow that.”

“Ties, we really need to adopt,” my brother whined.

“I know right,” Ties pouted back, “we’ll talk about it later.”

“Wait, hang on,” my sister said in her thick Dutch accent, “why is he holding a baby?”

I rolled my eyes even though she couldn’t see it, “because I went through a lot of pain and actually was able to push her out of my body without any painkillers.”

“Nee!” she screamed and threw a tantrum, “ik moest voor jouw kinderen hebben!” (No, I was supposed to have children before you.)

“Annika!” My mom scolded, actually surprising me. My parents never ever got mad at Annika. She was their perfect daughter while I was just some useless thing they had to call family. My mom smiled at the phone for a while, being happy to have her first grandchild, “what’s her name?”

“Kalila,” I said softly, noticing small snores coming from the one we were talking about.

“She’s beautiful.”

“But why do we just get to hear about this now?” My dad looked pretty angry, “didn’t you ever think about telling us, huh?”

“Willem,” my mother sighed, obviously not liking his attitude.

“No, she should have told us!”

“She told me,” Ewout casually shrugged with his mouth full.

“What!” My dad raised his voice, “You should have told us, you useless-”

I hung up before he could finish his sentence. Right now, I didn’t need his negativity. I sighed and sat down next to Tony, resting my head on his shoulder, “and that’s why I never talk to my family.”

“Your mum had a surprisingly good reaction, or at least from what I could hear,” Tony rested his head on top of mine, both of us already knowing we were going to get a lot of sleepless nights.

“She actually sort of defended me, I guess, which is pretty new.”

“Maybe she’s starting to change her mind,” Claudia smiled at me.

“I hope so,” I whispered and closed my eyes.

Even though I didn’t really say it out loud, I would have at least been able to give Kalila some contact with one of her grandparents from my side of the family. It wasn’t like Tony’s family wasn’t enough, I just wanted Kalila to have a much better life than I did.

So, the next chapter is the last... How do you guys feel about that? I hope you're fine with 2 epilogues, though. It might take a while before they come out after next chapter, but I promise I won't leave you hanging.

@Nickyvlxx
You still have one epilogue to go ;) but it's still in progress, so now you also have to wait patiently :P
Good luck with the ATL stories, by the way, I hope they don't bore you.

@aweirdkindofyellow
Wow, someone's been keeping busy ;) but don't push yourself, if you don't have time, you don't have time. I mean you're doing 3 at once! That's amazing! Just let me know when you've posted the new one! ;*

@Thebandobsessedgirlwithnolife
Yep, it was my first, and you can definitely tell by how badly The New Member is written at the very beginning. And I'm thinking of starting a new story, I have an idea, but I already have three stories going on (two on the ATL website and the collaborative story I'm writing on here) so I'll have to see when I can write it. I first want to plan it out completely, so it might take a while.

@aweirdkindofyellow
That was your first?! Holy! I can't wait for you to write more then! You did an amazing job! <33
