Tables Turned

"Okay hold up, you asked him back to your dorm to watch a movie?" Alyssa questioned down the phone. I could imagine her sitting, mouth agape and a strand of hair between her thumb and index finger. "At least tell me you kissed him?"

I rolled my eyes at that statement. "I have a boyfriend Al." I reminded her.

"Yeah, and you're now like a gazillion miles away from him, it's kinda not gonna last." She pointed out. I mean I kinda guessed as much but I didn't wanna admit it to myself.

"Has he even mentioned me?" I asked the dreaded question, okay so the question isn't what I dread. It's the answer.

"Actually he said today that he was missing you." Alyssa said proudly down the phone. I mean that's kinda good?

"That's funny cause I tried to call him yesterday and he put me straight to voicemail." I sighed.

There was a short pause and then Alyssa sighed too. "I don't understand that because he's been acting like he misses you." She sounded a little distracted.

"It is what it is, if he's gonna ignore me then fine. There are plenty more fish in the sea, and San Diego is an ocean." I grinned.

"I'll speak to you later okay." Alyssa told me, I could almost hear her smile down the phone.

"Yeah I'll catch you later girl. Bye." I smiled and then hung up the phone. I threw my cellphone to the side and groaned loudly. My stomach rumbled indicating that I was hungry but there was nothing particularly edible in the apartment.

I got up off my bed and left my room, standing in front of the other bedroom doors. My feet took me towards Lynn's room and I knocked on the door.

After a minute or so of her shuffling about she called out for me to come in. I opened the door and walked into her room, it was nice. She put up some fairy lights and some pictures. I noticed her sitting on her bed with a book and some notebooks in front of her. "Hey what's up?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"I was just chilling here and realise, I'm fucking starving but there's no good food in the house right now. Do you wanna come to McDonald's or something?" I asked her. Her eyes lit up like the Fourth of July.

She jumped off her bed and grabbed her hoody and shoved her arms through it. "I'm so hungry too, glad I ain't the only one." She grinned at me.

"Great, I'll get my keys." I told her.

"Do you think we should ask if Vic or Tony want anything?" She suggested. I gave her a thoughtful look.

"Yeah I'll go ask." I nodded to her.

"Imma do a quick piss before we leave, I always end up needing to pee when I go on car journeys." She giggled and ran into her bathroom. She was somewhat the most adorable creature I've ever seen.

I walked out of her room and knocked on Vic's door, I heard a muffled sound that sounded like him telling me to come in so I did. "Hey do you want- OH MY GOD SORRY." I clamped my hand over my eyes. Vic was standing in his room, completely naked. His hair was wet so I assume he was in a shower.

"It's fine." He said casually. "You can look now." He laughed. When I took my hand away from my eyes I found he had put boxers on. "You were saying?"

I felt the blood run to my face, I don't understand why I was blushing but here I am. "Me and um, Lynn are going to get MacDonald's if y-you want anything?" WHY ARE YOU STUTTERING SAVANNAH?

"Oh, right. Medium Big Mac meal thanks. And a Coke." He said and began towel drying his hair. I couldn't help but check him out a little, he has very toned arms and chest. "Anything else?" He asked, bringing me out of my trance.

Fuck, he caught me staring. "No, I'm good."

"You sure?" He raised an eyebrow at me. "If you like what you see then ditch the MacDonald's and join me." He grinned at me and sat down on his bed. I rolled my eyes and walked out of his room, closing the door behind me.

Lynn walked out of Tony's room and smiled at me. "Tony wants a Big Mac meal." She informed me.

"Funny, that's exactly what Vic wants." I shook my head.

"Obviously they have no imagination."

I got into the car and Lynn slid into the passenger side. And this is where it begins to feel awkward. I reached over and hit play on the CD player and The Rock Show by Blink 182 came rushing through the speakers. "I love this song!" Lynn squealed.

"Really? Me too!" I got a little excited knowing that she obviously has a similar music taste as me.

"Yeah, the first album I ever bought was Enema of the State." She grinned from ear to ear.

"No fucking way, that's the first album I bought!" I was too excited about this. It made me feel bad for how I reacted when Lynn spoke to Ben. "I have the biggest crush on Travis Barker." I gushed. But Lynn just had a look of guilt and anxiety when I mentioned that. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." She said quickly and looked away out of the window. I didn't wanna push the matter but there was something not right here.

"Okay, let's get food." I smiled at her but she didn't see it. I drove off out of the parking lot and towards the MacDonald's at the bottom of the campus street. We went through the drive through and placed our order, as it was my idea I insisted on paying for it. Lynn tried to protest but I wouldn't let her.

We decided to text Tony and tell him to meet us at the parking lot to get their McDonald's and so me and Lynn could go for a drive.

After we did that we went to an empty parking lot and ate our MacDonald's in peace, listening to some music and making small talk. Once we finished our food I decided to ask Lynn about what happened. "Look I don't wanna make things awkward but it seemed like mentioning my crush on Travis Barker kinda bummed you out, why?" I asked.

She looked at me and frowned. "It's complicated." She said and then began chewing on her lip.

"I ain't gonna judge you." I said with a reassuring smile.

"I have been having a really difficult time with myself lately." She sighed, throwing her head back. "I came here from Boston to escape my parents and try find a way to deal with myself but I don't think I can."

"What do you mean?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I'm gay." She blurted out. I looked at her and she had a look of fear in her eyes.

"And you're scared to come out to your family?" I asked.

"I'm scared to come out." She said quietly. I reached out and grabbed her hand.

"I'm not gonna tell anyone and it doesn't make me wanna be any less of a friend to you." I explained to her. "There's absolutely nothing wrong with your sexuality, in fact I'm bi." I said to her.

"Really?" She smiled from ear to ear.

"Yeah and it ain't just drunk college girl bi, I actually dated a girl in secret in high school but she was a bit of a bitch. And I say in secret because she didn't want anyone to know that she was gay." I shrugged. It didn't completely shock me to find out that Lynn is gay but it did make me feel even more dumb concerning the feelings I felt when I thought she was flirting with Ben.

"I'm so glad we've became friends Sav." She said with a really genuine smile.

"Me too Lynn." I smiled back. "Hey at least if you accidentally walk into Vic's room and see him naked it won't be a awkward for you." I laughed.

"I think that'd be more awkward to me and wait when did that happen?" She shook her head.

"Tonight." I told her.

"Was he...?"

"Big?" I answered.

"Yeah." She grinned. I just gave her a wink and it sent her into a fit of laughter, which made me laugh. This was going to be a much better year than I first thought.
