Tables Turned

"This is your car?" Ben looked between me and the Mercedes in front of us.

"Does that shock you?" I couldn't help but smirk, he wasn't expecting that. To be honest, I guess in a way Vic's opinion of me is accurate. I am a daddy's girl.

He looked at the car and then back at me. "Actually no." He mumbled. I unlocked the car and got in, he followed suit. "And not in a rude way, it's just you kinda seem like the kinda girl whom has a well off family."

"You're not wrong." I sighed, starting the car and backing out of the parking lot. "So where shall we go?"

"Umm, that's kinda a dumb question Savannah." He laughed which earned a looked from me. "We both don't know anywhere so how could I suggest something?"

"Oh right, duh." I felt like a complete idiot.

"Let's just drive and see where we end up." Ben said with a small smile playing at his lips. I know I shouldn't think of him in any sort of romantic way but I can't help it. He's very attractive.

"So how is the United States of America treating you so far?" I questioned him as I turned out of the street that led to our campus.

"Well, it's weird. You guys just do everything bigger here." He pointed out. "It's good though."

"What happens when your year is up?" I asked.

"Well, I either ask to stay anything year or go back to the shit hole I come from." He didn't sound very happy about that though.

"Let's hope you like it here then." I blurted out. Great Savannah, now you look needy and desperate.

"Let's hope." He had a hint of a smile on his voice, which made me smile. "So how was your first day?"

"Honestly?" I turned my head towards him for a second and then back to the road. "One of my roommates is a total jerk and he's already pissing me off." I could feel my blood boil just thinking of him.

"What's his name?" Ben asked me.

"Vic Fuentes." I spat, I then felt bad because it was Vic whom was the asshole, not Ben.

"I know that guy." He announced. "He's in my English class. Kind of a nob actually, thinks the world shines out his arse." Ben shrugged.

"Well yeah, he's just getting on my last nerve and it's only been a day."

Ben chuckled from beside me. "Just find what annoys him and do it back." He stated simply.

"Isn't that petty?" I asked looking at him with a raised eyebrow. I mean yeah I've thought about it but I didn't wanna seem too childish.

"Yeah." He said bluntly. "But what does it matter? He's got no respect for you so why give him any in return."

"You know what, I think I might." I smirked out into the road.

"Good, don't let him get to you." I heard him say quietly.

After we got food we headed back to the dorms. Ben actually lived in the same building as me but two floors below me. "Do you wanna go to my room and watch a movie?" I suggested. A part of me wanted to tell him it has to be platonic but another part of me wanted him to make a move.

"Sure." He smiled at me. I nodded and pressed the button to my floor and the doors of the elevator shut. For some reason, a weird tension built between me and Ben.

"So what classes do you have tomorrow?" I asked him. What the Hell is wrong with me?

"English, economics and philosophy." He told me.

"That's cool, mines are pretty similar." I sighed. The doors opened indicating that we were at my floor, I took a step out and he followed me. We walked towards the door and I unlocked it and walked in.

Lynn was sitting on the couch flicking through the channels with pizza in her hand. She looked up and smiled at us. "Hey, how was your first day?" She asked, giving us her attention.

"It was alright, kinda boring at times." I shrugged. "This is Ben by the way." I said pointed to him.

"I'm Lynn." She nodded at him, holding her pizza up.

"That smells like damn good pizza." Ben pointed out.

"There's some in the box." Lynn nodded towards the pizza box on the counter. Ben walked over to it and grabbed a slice.

"We just ate?" I questioned him.

"You're never too full for pizza Savannah." Ben said between mouthfuls of pizza.

"Where did you find this righteous dude?" Lynn jumped to her feet and came over to us.

"She quite literally ran into me on our way into her econ class." Ben told Lynn.

"That's funny." Lynn giggled. It kinda pissed me off for some reason, like was she flirting with him?

"Anyway, wanna go watch that movie now?" I asked Ben, he nodded and held the pizza slice up as if to say thanks to Lynn. It pained me a little to see the disappointed look on her face as we walked away but I just can't help but feeling a little, over protective of Ben.

"OH MY GOD NO!" I shouted at my laptop screen. Ben laughed at my reaction. "How could she be so damn stupid!?" I exclaimed.

"It's just a movie." Ben pointed out.

"Yeah but she's dumb." I rolled my eyes and closed the laptop over. Ben gave me smile and shook his head. The silence that fell between us gave me a bad vibe, it was like I wanted to kiss him but I know that I can't.

"I should probably go now, my dad wanted to call me tonight to see how I'm dealing with life in America." Ben said quietly. I nodded understanding what he meant and got up off my bed. He followed suit and followed me out of my room and through the house. I noticed Vic standing in the kitchen making coffee, at 11pm? Weird.

He looked up and gave me an odd look. Once we got to the door I opened it and Ben walked out of it, I followed him out but kept my back on the door so that I didn't close over and lock me out. "Thanks for hanging out with me today." I told him.

"Thanks for being the weird English kids mate." He smiled at me.

"I'll see you tomorrow." I gave him a small wave and he followed my actions and then walked away. A small feeling of disappointment filled the pit of my stomach but it disappeared when I remembered I have a boyfriend and is him whom I should want to kiss m goodnight.

I walked back into the apartment and Vic was still standing in the kitchen. He cocked his head to the side and smiled at me. "Day one and you've pulled. You're on my level." He said childishly.

I rolled my eyes and walked over to the fridge and got a bottle of water. "Actually I didn't pull, he's a friend of mine so that means your level is the friendship zone, huh?" I said climbing onto the counter and opening my water and taking a sip.

"Cute but stop trying to out wit me." He rolled his eyes and leaned against the opposite counter.

"Right, can you not handle a girl challenging your actions?"

"No, I merely can't stand girls that think they're better than me when it comes to money." He said bluntly, drinking his coffee.

I frowned at my water and then looked at him. "Wait, what does money have to do with this?" I asked.

"You are one of those people that thinks they're the shit because daddy bought them an Audi for Christmas." Vic rolled his eyes.

"I have a Mercedes." I corrected with a smirk.

"Aren't you a charmer." He shook his head.

"What are you whining about, you're at San Diego state university, obviously your family has money too." I rolled my eyes and took another drink of my water.

"Oh you'd think." He said looking at his feet.

"Meaning?"

"Since I was 16 I worked a shit ton of hours to be able to afford college. My parents are broke." He shrugged at it. "My brother did the same, they couldn't afford to send us both so we had to work for it."

"There's nothing wrong with that." I said softly.

He snapped his head up to look at me. "I didn't say there was, I'm just telling you that we didn't all get handed education on a silver plater."

"Right I get that, I'm not ungrateful." I told him.

"Good, it'd be a real pity to dislike you." He said as he pushed himself away from the counter and walked off to his room.

Wait did I just dream that or was he semi decent to me? Today has been weird.
