Tables Turned

Your Bridges are Burning

My alarm clock buzzed like a foghorn, loud and startling. 7am is way too early to be up and getting ready for college. But I guess in my situation I had to do it or else my dad would kill me.

I threw the covers off my body and embraced the surprisingly cold September morning. "Why, is it freezing?" I asked myself. My feet found the floor, leading me over to the window where I opened the curtains and it revealed a beautiful, sunny San Diego morning. So why was it freezing in this place?

I shrug it off and continue on my mission to be ready before 8:30am. Goodluck, your makeup won't be a quick one girl.

I hopped in a quick shower and changed into some skinny jeans with a baggy blink 182 shirt. Then I dried my hair off and applied makeup as quickly as I could.

When I was finished I left my room and walked into the living room to be greeted by Tony, Vic and some other dude passed out on the couches. It made me laugh a little, idiots. They're gonna be hung over and late for their first day of the semester.

So I strolled over to the kitchen and decided to pick up a pot and spoon. It made me chuckle to think of their reactions to come. The clatter that the two objects made rung through the apartment, Vic fell off the couch and Tony shot up. The other dude didn't even flinch. "Time to get up losers!" I shouted loud enough so that it would hurt their heads a little.

Vic clambered to his feet and glared at me as if I was Satan. "Well that was just uncalled for you know." He hissed at me. Tony got up and ran to his room, presumably to be sick.

"Well, that'll teach you guys to not pass out in the communal areas." I told him as I sat the pot and spoon back down on the counter. "It's 8am, at least I woke you up now instead of when I was leaving for my first class." I sauntered past him and back into my bedroom.

Soon enough it was time to leave for my first class of the day, economics. Honestly, I don't understand why my dad made me pick economics as one of my extra classes. I walked down the hallway and reached the class but bumped into someone as I was about to walk into the room. "Shit sorry." He had a cute English accent actually.

I looked up and my cheeks flushed red. "Oh shit sorry, I wasn't looking." I chuckled lightly. He had sandy blonde hair and a green beanie cap on. And boy his jawline was strong, it could probably cut through diamond.

"It's okay love." Oh fuck, why? He's too good to be true.

"So you're English? What are you doing in San Diego studying economics?" I questioned him. I know we are supposed to be going into class right now but I want to speak to him and never stop staring at his beautiful eyes. Stop it Savannah, you have a boyfriend.

"I'm an exchange student. I asked my parents if I could do a year aboard so I enrolled in the student exchange programme and well, here I am." He literally has the smoothest accent I've ever heard.

"Well, San Diego is kinda nice." I pointed out to him.

"Yeah but I don't know where anything is." He smiled, wow his teeth are also very perfect. "I've been to that McDonald's down the street about 6 times in the last 4 days because it's the only place I know where to get food, I'm gonna end up 20 stone by the time it hits Christmas."

"20 stone?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh yeah, America. I think that's like 300 pounds?" He guessed with a cute expression on his face.

"Let's hope not." I blurted out, then mentally slapped myself. He chuckled though and that eased my embarrassment. "Anyway I'm totally lost here too, I moved here yesterday from Oregon so I have no friends and no idea where I am or where anything is too." I confessed. A look of relief covered his face. "All I got is my car and a bank card that I'm pretty sure my dad will cut off the minute I drop below a B." I shrugged.

"Well, how about we go exploring after our last classes today? I'll chip in for petrol money?" He suggested. "Sorry, gas money." He corrected himself, earning a grin from me.

Suddenly the door opened and a man around the age of 50 stood there with an impatient look on his face. "Are you two joining my class today?" He asked obnoxiously. We both looked at each other and nodded slowly, the guy let me in first and followed me up to the back of the lecture hall. And everyone stared at us. Great.

We sat down and opened our books. "By the way, I'm Ben." He whispered to me.

"Savannah, and yeah I'm up for the adventuring after classes." I smiled to myself, staring out into the front of the class.

After economics I basically ran for my psychology class. It was on the opposite side of campus and I didn't wanna be late for it. Once I got there though, I wished that I never even bothered going. I saw Vic walk in to the lecture hall and scan the room. He nodded towards me, and I rolled my eyes. So he made his way up the stairs with a grin on his face and I looked down at my desk, waiting for him to approach me but after at least 20 seconds there was nothing.

I looked up and noticed he had sat on the empty seat on the other side of the stairs and talking to the guy next to him. Now I look like a total idiot.

"Class, welcome to psychology. I am your professor for the year." He introduced himself. "My name is Jack Matthews. But you can call me Jack." Okay this dude seemed a little laid back.

He began to ramble on about the year ahead of us and it made me zone out a little. In all honesty I have no interest in becoming a psychiatrist or even studying psychology. The only reason I'm majoring in it is because my family are all Drs of some sort. My dad wanted me to continue that so this was the only thing that appealed to me. I really want to be a tour manager though, that's the dream.

"So as a way to get to know your peers I've put together a class project, and don't worry I've pre arranged groups so you guys don't have to go through the awkward ordeal or choosing." Jack said holding up a sheet.

He then began shouting out names and shit, naming groups and telling people to move to sit with their groups. God this feels like high school all over again. I was zoned out until I heard my name being called. "Savannah Lewis, Vic Fuentes, Ryan Masters." Hearing I was in Vic's group made me angry for some reason so I let out a groan of frustration.

I felt him look at me from the corner of my eye. "Come on team mate." He said with fake enthusiasm. I grabbed my bag and walked over to sit next to him but his legs were in the way. The guy next to him had moved to his group and obviously that meant I had to sit next to Vic.

"I'm excuse me." I said impatiently, waiting for him to move his legs.

"Oh sorry, where are my manners." He said politely and then moved his legs about a quarter of an inch. I groaned again and slid past his legs. "Well this is a good view." He said loudly. A few people around us began laughing and I turned my head to see what he meant, and then it dawned on me. He was staring at my ass.

I threw my stuff down onto the desk and sat down with anger building in me. "Well, count yourself lucky, it's probably the closest you'll get to ass in your life." I spat at him which annoyingly only amused him more. This dude is seriously getting on my last nerve.

"Sorry princess, did I hit a nerve?" He grinned at me with his stupidly attractive grin.

I didn't know what to say to that, he was annoying me and I didn't wanna rise to it.

Luckily though the class didn't drag on too much and I barely had to speak to Vic or this other dude but to my distaste the project was a whole year thing and it was 60% of my grade. How fantastic is that?!

Jack dismissed the class and I grabbed my bag and rose to my feet before Vic had even put the lid on his pen, meaning I had to wait till he put his shit away. "You know, this century would be nice." I said rolling my eyes at him, which only made him go slower. So I pushed past him this time sliding past him from the front.

"This view is good too babe." He grinned up at me.

"Stop calling me babe." I whined at him, earning another grin from him.

"Why you so flustered?" He asked. I just walked down the stairs and hoped to get away from him for a bit. "And why are you ignoring me?" He continued to pester me.

"You're frustrating as Hell." I snapped, turning to him once we got outta the lecture hall. I turned to face him and I could feel the anger building up. "You had no right to come to my room and make presumptuous comments in your drunken state. It was rude and not even your damn business." I ranted at him.

"Whoa, calm down princess." He said with an even more annoyingly straight face.

"STOP CALLING ME THAT!" I shouted at him. He raised an eyebrow and then walked off. What the fuck is this dudes problem man?
