Tables Turned

Boston Manor

The plane touched down in Boston around 2pm. Luckily though, I had a lot of alcohol and fell asleep. When I say luckily, it meant I missed the horrible turbulence because I passed out after my 5th vodka orange due to the fact that they don't do singles on the flight, only doubles. It was only on my 4th that Vic told me that.

I was groggy and to be quite honest, pretty drunk. Lynn was scared her parents would think we were all crazy drunk teens so she told her parents that we wouldn't be in Boston until 6pm so that we had time to sober up.

"Come on." Vic chuckled and pulled me along the terminal floor. I looked at the people around me and laughed a little. It was kinda nice feeling so happy about something so risky. Lynn could potentially lose her family today. I mean that's a very far fetched scenario but it doesn't mean it's not possible.

I looked up at Vic as he led me alone the terminal and out to of the departure lounge. "Are we going to a bar or something?" I asked in my drunken state.

"Well no because we will all get denied entry." Lynn giggled. She didn't drink as much as me as far as I know but she did drink some shit.

"Okay okay." I nodded. "Where are we gonna go?"

"My friends house." Lynn grinned from ear to ear.

"Wait what?" I looked up at Vic and he shrugged. We exited the departure lounge and Lynn began running towards a guy whom was kinda tall with stretched ears and piercing eyes. He engulfed her with a hug and they looked so happy.

"Well this is going to be an interesting weekend." Vic mumbled to me. I looked up at him and gave him a small, drunken smile.

Lynn turned around and waved us over so we strolled over to them in an attempt to look as sober as possible but I failed, majorly. "Guys, this is my friend Alex. Alex this is Savannah and Vic." Lynn introduced us.

"Hey man." Vic said as he gave Alex a small nod.

"Hey!" I said overly enthusiastic and hugged Alex tightly.

He seemed apprehensive about it but hugged me in return anyway. "Well you guys are welcome at my house all weekend so if you'd rather stay with me then that's totally fine." Alex told us as I pulled away.

"Thank you so much." I blurted out. Mentally I was face palming myself for being so embarrassing for Lynn.

Alex just laughed and smiled at me. "How drunk are you?" Alex asked with a chuckle.

"Give it five minutes and you'll find out for yourself." Vic rolled his eyes playfully. I nudged him and he just pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head.

We left the airport and Alex drove us to his house, where he lived with his friend Brian. They seemed like really chilled out guys so I can see why Lynn is friends with them. By the time we were all settled in I had sobered up enough for Lynn to decide if she wanted to go and speak to her parents.

“My only issue is that they will probably kill me so either way you guys will be going home alone tomorrow.” Lynn laughed sarcastically. I just wrapped my arms around her and sighed.

“If they can't accept you for who you are then they don't deserve you in their lives Lynn.” I told her. She gave me a sad look but nodded anyway. “I know they're your parents but if they don't accept you for who you are then that's their issue. Not yours.”

“I know what you mean actually.” Lynn agreed with me.

“You wanna go now?” I asked.

“It's now or never.” She said with a weak smile on her lips. I felt bad for her. I mean she shouldn't have to deny herself her own sexuality but it's gonna be tough admitting this to her family and coming to terms with whatever their reactions will be.

She grabbed my hand and we walked towards Lynn's car. She left it at Alex's house as far as I know, I don't know why. “Shotgun!” I shouted as we got to the car. Vic pouted and climbed into the backseat.

“Y'know hanging around with girls isn't always fun.” He huffed and put his seat belt on.

“Whoever told you it was supposed to be fun?” I turned in my seat and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

“Usually girls are fun but you two are always mean when it's just us three.” He rolled his eyes.

“Why is my boyfriend such a big baby?” I asked Lynn with a confused tone in my voice.

“It's a San Diego thing.” Lynn winked at me and pulled out of the driveway.

I smiled at her and turned the radio on.

About 10 minutes later we arrived in front of what can only be described as a mansion. “Lynn?” I asked with an uncertain voice.

“I know.” She shrugged. She turned off the car and got out, we followed suit and Vic had a look of complete bewilderment on his face.

“One day I'm gonna own a place like this.” He said with a small smile on his face. “And I'm gonna have a dog and loads of guitars.” He looked so happy.

“I believe you might just do that.” I grinned at him. He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

“And who knows you might still be around to see it all come to life.” He smiled and then slowly leaned in and kissed me. I felt like my whole body was on fire and that nothing could put me out.
“Sorry to interrupt the PDA but my mom and dad are on their way out and well, you tell me if you wanna deal with that.” Lynn said loudly. We pulled apart with pink cheeks from slight embarrassment. It was kinda cute actually.

“Lynn, it's great to see you.” A middle aged women said as she approached Lynn and engulfed her in a hug.

“Mom, Dad this is my friends Savannah and Vic.” Lynn introduced us.

After the long and boring introduction process we were invited inside by Lynn's parents and offered drinks. I declined, I still wasn't one hundred percent sober so I didn't wanna do anything dumb.

“So Lynn what brings you and your friends to Boston in November. It's not even Thanksgiving yet.” He mom asked us.

“Well mom...” Lynn began. I was sitting next to her on the couch, across from her parents and Vic next to me. “There's something I have to tell you.”

“Oh you're not flunking out are you?” Lynn's father asked.

“No I'm -” Lynn began but her dad cut her off.

“Because your brother dropped out and he's ruined his career in the process.” He told her.

“Oh it's such a shame, he had such potential.” Her mom chimed in again.

“Actually I-”

“Remember how much your tuition costs every year. You don't want to waste that-” Her mom cut her off again. It was really starting to annoy me actually.

“I'M GAY!!!” Lynn shouted. Both her parents stopped dead in their tracks and stared at her. “I came to tell you guys in person. I am gay.” She let out a shaky breath.

I looked at her moms face and it was blank. She had no idea how to react. “Lynn what are you talking about?” She laughed awkwardly.

“I like girls, that is who I am. I wanted you to know because I'm sick of having to hide who I am.” Lynn explained to them.

“Lynn you're not making any sense. How could you be...” Her mom couldn't even say the words.

“Gay? You can't even say it can you? Are you that ashamed of me?” Lynn looked at her mom with pleading in her eyes.

Her mom took a deep breath and then looked at her husband. “Lyndsey, I think it's time you came home.” Lynn went stiff in the seat beside me.

“Mom no.” She whispered.
“It's the West Coast. It's influencing you in ways that it shouldn't. You need to be with your family.”

“Dad...” Lynn said, voice breaking. Her dad got up and left the room, which made Lynn begin to cry. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

“So is this why you brought your gay friends with you?” Lynn's mom asked obnoxiously.

“Come again?” I piped up, feeling my blood begin to boil.

“Are you her girlfriend? Did you corrupt my daughter?” Her mom spat at me. “And you brought your gay friend along for support?” She nodded towards Vic.

It was then that I began to laugh. She's a crazy lady. “Look, your daughter was gay way before she met me and your backwards views on the world and how it should be is going to lose your daughter for good.” I said getting up off the couch. “It's astounding how fucking ignorant you can be and how shallow your opinion on your own flesh and blood can be.” I spat at her.

“I will not be spoken to like that in my own home.” Lynn's mom said to me frantically.

“Oh don't worry, we're leaving and trust me.” I pointed to Vic beside me. “Gay guys don't fuck girls like he does.” I said smugly and stormed out the door. Lynn and Vic both followed after me.

A part of me felt devastated for how it worked out but then again, Lynn deserves way better.
