Breaking The Rules

Introducing the Meet

Amelia POV
I was just assigned a new case. I haven't had many cases yet and this one seems well...big. All I wanted right now was a simple little "my neighbor plays music too loud" or " my kid is smoking pot" kind of case. But no, I am working on a murder investigation. Part of me thinks this is a good way to prove myself, but part of me also thinks that this will be dragging on a while. Im not good at anything that drags on, but it looks like I have no choice in this one.

I'm sitting here on my couch in gray sweatpants watching Star Wars A New Hope, and procrastinating my best from working on that damn case. "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." This is the moment where I try to use all my brainpower to use the force, and the result is a headache and three pints of Ben and Jerry.

My phone rings on the table beside me, and makes my insides cringe. I pause the movie and see its my new client. Great, now I have to sound professional.
"Hello?"
"Uhm, hi. This is Jaime Preciado. I'm your new client you just got. The one about the uhm well the murder.." His voice tightens at the last word and I hear a heavy breath after he's done talking. I have to be careful on what I say.
"Yes Jaime, my name is Amilia Song. Is there anything you called me for specifically?"
There's a small pause before he starts talking again, and his voice is more shaky than before.
"Well, not really. You have everything in that file but..." I look over to file once more disgusted. he continues talking, and the more he does the worse his nerves get, so I stop him.
"Jaime, would you prefer to continue this conversation over lunch?" I ask not knowing how it will help, but it might make him feel less alone.
"Uhm, yes please. I think that actually might be better. Could we meet at one next to McCalisters? "
I actually am satisfied with this because I'm really craving a good sandwich.
"Sounds good Jaime, I'll see you there."
All he said was thank you, and the conversation is over. I'm left with the phone still stuck to my face, and an odd thought that pops into my head...He sounded cute.
