So How About You Save Me?

A New Start?

I could hear the faint thump of my toms banging against the concrete. Most of my focus was on the cracks embedded within the ground, the number of times I have walked across them, I could easily memorise where each one was. The countless times I had aimlessly sauntered down my street, sometimes with my companions, other times on my own. Somehow, that feeling of nostalgia made my already melancholy mood worse. This would be the last time I walked down this road. The last time I stared at the house my four friends, Jesse, Gabe, Jack, and Justin shared. I contemplated sharing what had happened, but went against the idea. Why am I running? Because my stupid fucking Dad, that is why. Anger flooded my body once again; how could he even say that? You're probably wondering what the hell I am on about. Well, after discovering that I had been expelled from my third school, he had had enough of me. 20minutes earlier.... "You are no son of mine, you disappointment. All this I have done for you, and you throw it back in my fucking face!" My fathers voice rebounded around the vast hall in which we both stood. I scoffed at his remark, which just caused his animosity towards me to grow. "What have you done, Dad? Beat mom until she left!? Knock me about until I'm black and blue? Expect me to be some sort of fucking genius, devoted to school!? You caused these, you son of a bitch!" I yanked the sleeve of my hoodie up, revealing a cluster of angry scars- some were still glaring red, others were white and faded. Angrily, I flicked my blue orbs up to him, and was greeted by a smirk. A fucking smirk! "Too bad you didn't go deep enough, I never wanted you anyway! All you have ever done is fail me. Have you ever wondered why your mother didn't take you with her? I know, she didn't want you, just like I don't. Now get out of my fucking sight, I never want to lay eyes on you, ever again." The vile creature that I called my father turned on his heel, seething, and stormed off. Amongst the anger and heartbreak, I felt tears start to brim at my eyes. It was like I had been hit by a train. My whole body froze, reluctant to move, despite my brains demands. 'Did she not want me? Why?' That question circulated my head in circles, trying to search for an answer. A loud bang, which was presumably my father throwing an object, awoke me from my tear filled daze. I scampered to my feet, and scurried up the stairs to my bedroom. Frantically, I grabbed a rucksack, and threw some sentimental belongings in there, along with some random clothes. My mind was far too occupied with the situation at hand to even comprehend on which clothes to gather. After gathering everything I could, I stopped for a moment, and inhaled sharply before slamming my door shut and flying down the stairs. 'Goodbye, home' I thought glumly. Present.... Unfortunately, thinking over what happened just made everything 10 times worse. Slowly, I was becoming enraged. 'No Kellin, just stop and think. Rationality.' I shut my emotions off completely, and let the logical side of my brain take over. Where would I go now? I didn't have any other friends except- I stopped my train of thought, and a wave of realisation hit me. 'Matty Mullins' Scrambling to the bottom of my bag, I retrieved my phone, and messily punched out Matty's number. After only a few rings I got a 'hello'. "Hey man, I think I may need somewhere to stay, could you help me out?" A half an hour discussion later, I found myself staring out of a taxi window, my eyes lost amongst the rain droplets falling down the window. Apprehension was building up inside of me, this was all new to me. I had never travelled out of Michigan. Flying was definitely a new experience, and since the airport was within my sights, my nerves were getting the better of me. 'Goodbye Michigan, you whore' I thought to myself. This town has been nothing but a bad memory, and most of those are etched into my skin. "Here" A raspy voice intruded through my thoughts. "Oh right, thanks" I mumbled and shoved a few notes in the drivers hand. Copious amounts people swarmed from everywhere as I walked through the towering glass doors. Admittedly, social interaction has never been my 'thing', so with this many people around me, the unpleasant feeling of anxiety settled within me. After what felt like forever, I found a board with all the flight times on. A slight grin spread across my face as I read 'Departures- San Diego 18:25"
