All My Heart

Thinking Of You

Sophie’s POV

I stood on Vic and Annie’s house doorstep, ringing the doorbell vigorously, and silently cursing my stupid best friend for getting pregnant. It made her slow, and that wasn’t allowed.

Eventually, the door opened and Annie stood in front of me rubbing her eyes and she gave me the death glare.

“I’ll be surprised if that bell works anymore,” she shot at me, clearly pissed because I’d just woke her up.

“Yeah well it’s 10 in the morning, you should be up by now and remember that you were gonna come and help me pick out flowers for the wedding,” I retaliated.

“Yeah and I’m 6 months pregnant and tired, and you know I don’t agree with the heat, especially this pregnant. Anyways I fell asleep on the couch,” she gestured to her body and I had to stifle a laugh, “let me get my bag and some make up and I’ll be right with you.”

I smiled at her, following her into the house her and Vic moved into last month. They’d decided that they wanted to move out of their apartment, as they realised they didn’t really have enough space for a baby and a piano anymore. They’d found this adorable little house, and it was perfect for Annie and Vic. It wasn’t too big, and it was incredibly homely. Vic was getting the rest of the band to come and help him decorate the baby room when they’d finished their short tour in Australia. They’d be back in a couple of days, and Annie was getting impatient with the room. She wanted it done, and it had caused a few arguments between them before he’d left for tour. What with her hormones flying all over the place and her being a naturally impatient person, Vic had had quite the earful before he left.

She grabbed her bag from beside the front door, having picked up her makeup bag from the downstairs bathroom, before stalking out the house towards my car.

“Come on slow coach,” she called back to me.

I rolled my eyes and followed her out, unlocking my car as I went. I watched as she struggled into the passenger seat, and I chuckled as she stuck her middle finger up at me.

“Shut up, I’m pregnant,” she muttered.

“That’s your excuse for everything,” I laughed, as she rolled her eyes at me.

“Whatever, one day you’ll understand Sophie, one day,” she snapped at me.

“One day Annie Fuentes, but not someday soon,” I smiled.

“Have you and Mike talked about that yet?” she asked, changing her snappy attitude immediately.

“What? When we wanna start a family?” she nodded in response, “we’ve spoken about it,
but Mike doesn’t want kids. Not any time soon anyway, I don’t think he’s ready and I’m not sure I am. We’re just getting married and honestly sometimes I think he has doubts about that, starting a family isn’t exactly in the books for us right now. Plus, what with you having yours coming soon, I don’t think anyone can deal with having two toddlers at once,” I laughed, and she smiled.

“I can’t wait for you and Mike to have kids,” she admitted, “you’re gonna be amazing parents.” I couldn’t help but feel a little awkward. Though, yes, I wanted children, Mike was pretty adamant we wouldn’t be having any anytime soon. Mike loved kids, he just didn’t want his own yet, and I didn’t really understand it, but last time I had brought it up it nearly caused an argument.

“I can’t wait for baby Fuentes to come; they’re gonna be the most spoilt child on this planet.”

“Well with you and Mike as uncle and aunt, I really wouldn’t be surprised. And with Vic as a dad, I don’t think this child is gonna have a lot to complain about,” Annie chuckled.

“I’m still angry you don’t wanna find the sex out,” I complained. It had been a nightmare buying stuff for their baby; Annie had been adamant that she didn’t wanna know. Vic on the other hand was desperate to find out. So along with the rest of us, he was frustrated with Annie and her stupid ass decisions. I mean I could understand why she didn’t want to know, the surprise is something incredibly special. But it was irritating to be on the outside looking in.

“I just want to have that surprise, it’ll be an amazing feeling when they tell us,” she smiled, her face lighting up like it always did when she talked about the upcoming birth.

“Have you or Vic got a preference?” I asked, genuinely curious.

“I think Vic wants a girl, so she can be his little princess,” she grinned, “but I think I want a boy, so he can protect his younger sister.”

That had been something Annie had always wanted for her children, to have them protect each other. Being the oldest she never had that, and she had to protect her sister and brothers; she didn’t mind, but she always wanted an older brother.

“Well one of you is going to be disappointed,” I joked, and Annie shook her head at me.

“No, we won’t be disappointed. This is our baby; it’ll be perfect whatever gender it is. Because it’ll be ours.”

“I know Annie, I was joking,” I assured her.

“I know, but I can’t help but get defensive,” she smiled at me, as I pulled the car up next to the flower shop, “anyways, enough about me. This is gonna be about you.”

I grinned, she was absolutely my best friend, and I couldn’t wish for anyone else.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After 12 hours of sorting out wedding stuff, such as flowers and cake tasting (something
Annie enjoyed immensely), and eventually looking at dresses. I still hadn’t chosen one, and with the wedding coming up, it was becoming an issue. I just wanted it to be perfect, and I hadn’t found it yet.

“Do you wanna come in? I really fancy a movie night, I’m exhausted,” she admitted.

I nodded in response to her question, and turned off my car, before following her into her house. She fumbled around for her keys, before opening the front door and waddling inside. I chuckled after her retreating figure, before dumping my bag on the side in the kitchen and following her into the living room.

She was laid on her back on the sofa, and she’d closed her eyes, I knew that she was exhausted, and it wouldn’t be long before she passed out on the sofa.

Before I could say anything though, a huge crash sounded from upstairs. Annie’s eyes flew open and I jumped out of my skin.

“What was that?” Annie whispered to me, fear evident in her voice.

“I don’t know...”I responded also terrified of making my way upstairs.

“Please go up and check, what if it’s a robber, or a crazy fan? I can’t deal with that shit,” she hissed back.

“I’m not going up there, I’m way too young to die.”

“If you were my best friend you would,” she pouted at me, and I knew I didn’t really have a choice. I’d feel eternally guilty if I sent her upstairs and she got murdered. Plus Vic would never forgive me. So I swallowed my fear and made my way up the stairs.
