All My Heart

Extraordinary Merry Christmas

Sophie’s POV

I took my seat next to Mike, his plate already piling over with food, “Are you actually going to be able to eat all of that?” I chuckled, as I filled my own plate.

“Just watch me, mi encantadora.” he winked as he pulled the hot sauce from his pocket, preparing to pour it on his dinner.

“No!” I shouted, “You are not ruining your dinner with that!” I scolded.

“It’s not ruining it! It makes it better!” he smirked, yet again trying to pour it on his dinner before I snatched it from his hands.

“No. It’s a fucking roast dinner Mike. You can eat something without it on!” I rolled my eyes, slipping the bottle into my hoodie pocket. The cheesy bastard had also given me a Pierce The Veil hoodie. In all fairness it was the first one they’d ever had made. When he’d given it to me I’d all but melted on him. He was giving me something that meant so much to him, in a sense it meant more to me than the ring did.

“Dude I think you should listen to the missus, she doesn’t look too impressed.” Casey laughed. He’d turned up just before dinner after spending the morning with Mal in their new house.

“I’m not.” I pouted, playfully.

Mike sighed, relenting, “You owe me for this.” I laughed giving him a peck on the cheek, returning to my dinner. Everyone was now settled around the table and as I looked around at my family I couldn’t help but smile.

“Time for crackers!” Annie squealed. We’d bought the cheap ones with crappy toys inside, because honestly the expensive ones were always a let-down. I crossed my arms over my body grabbing hold of the one Mike had and the one Tony had. “Pull!” Annie cheered and we all pulled. There was a loud cheer around the room as the crackers broke. I’d won against Tony but Mike had managed to beat me.

“I win!” he cheered, mocking me. I glared at him. That boy was so childish. I looked up to see Vic and Annie kissing, so desperately in love, it was sickening.

I rolled my eyes, “Not at the dinner table guys!” Casey had the stick from inside his cracker and was attempting to put it in Vic’s ear, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. Casey and Mike had been best friends for years and it was almost like they were the same person.

Dinner continued, filled with idle chatter and laughing and drinking, well except Annie who wasn’t allowed to drink. “Should we be smoking in front of you?” I asked through the blue haze.

Annie merely shrugged, “Once the baby is born then no, but for now I can’t see too much harm. Plus its only one day!” she smiled.

I was hesitant, but if Annie was okay with it I couldn’t complain. Mike passed me a joint, and I took it from him without hesitation. I didn’t plan on getting too high, I wanted to remember tonight for the rest of my life.

We all sat around having mindless chatter, talking about planned trips away, sipping our drinks and nibbling on leftovers on the table.

I was sat between Mike and Steph, and because Mike was chatting with Casey on his other side, I kept up chat with Steph.

Me and Steph had been friends for as long as I’d known her, and she had always been like my second best friend. When Annie and Vic had first gotten married, Mike and I had had a huge blow-up, and I hadn’t wanted to bother Annie with it all, so I’d gone to Steph. Ever since then she’d been one of my closest friends and I adored her, apart from Annie no-one could read me quite like she could.

I was looking curiously at her necklace, I was completely in awe of it, as it was beautiful, but I wasn’t jealous. I mean I loved the necklace, but I never wore any jewellery so it would have been a pointless gift for me.

“I’m so jealous you’re going to see and MEET Green Day!” Steph was saying, and I couldn’t help but laugh as a huge grin spread across my face at the thought.

“I’m just so excited, this year is going to be absolutely incredible,” I told her, my grin not fading any time soon.

“Yeah, speaking about that; when are you guys gonna finally tie the knot?” Steph asked curiously, gesturing to me and Mike, who was currently flicking some sauce at Vic’s face in an attempt to get his attention.

“We were thinking at some point in the summer, but there’s just so much to organise and I’m not sure where we wanna get married,” I explained to her.

“Well Annie got married in England, do you not want to get married there too?” she questioned, and I shrugged.

“To be honest, if Mike wanted to get married over here I would because it’s not all about what I want, it’s down to him as well. And anyways, I’ve always said San Diego is like a second home and I don’t lie,” I smiled at her.

“Yeah well, as long as I get to be there as your favourite American bridesmaid, I’ll be happy,” she smirked at me.

We fell into comfortable silence as I finished up the joint I had in my hand. I felt my hair being pushed back from my ear, and I smiled as Mike whispered:

“What is green, white and red all over?”

“I dunno babe, what’s green, white and red all over?” I played along.

“An elf with sunburn,” he whispered cheekily in my ear, and I burst out laughing. It wasn’t even that funny but the way he’d said it made me laugh and I remembered why I loved that goofy man sat beside me.

“What beats his chest and swings from Christmas cake to Christmas cake?” I asked, knowing he’d love this one.

“I dunno mi encantadora,” he smirked down at me.

“Tarzipan!” I exclaimed, and he laughed at my facial expression.

“That was a good one,” he chuckled, “you win.”

“I always win babe, you should know that by now,” I laughed, winking at him.
