Vic

I knock on Maya's door. We were having yet another movie night. She opens the door with a smile.

“Hey” she says and hugs me. Her fruity perfume hitting my nose.

I been wanting to ask her what we were but I have been a little scared to. What if she doesn't want to be my girlfriend. I take a seat on the couch and watch as a she pops in the DVD. She joins me.She had chosen a horror movie, her favorite genre. She hits play on the controller and turns off the lamp next to her. Towards the end like always, Maya is snoring lightly next to me. I poke her cheek a few times and she wakes up.

“Sorry. My eyes needed to rest for a bit. She turns the lamp next to her back on and gets up. The credits are rolling on the screen. She shuts it off.

“Want a drink or some food?”

“a drink”

We walk to the kitchen. She gets out some apple juice and two cups. She pours it and hands me a cup.

“So where is Sofia tonight?”

“I don't even know. At work I think.”

She yawns.

“Tired?”

“Just a little.”

“I should go then.”

“I'll walk you out.”

I put my cup in the sink and head towards the door.

“Vic?”

She looks nervous and fidgeting with her sleeves.

“Yeah?”

“Could you...possibly..maybe stay the night?”

I shut the door I had open a little. I couldn't believe she wants me to stay the night. Sure we had slept in the couch together a couple times but still she is asking me. I smile.

“Sure”


She takes my hand and leads me to her room.

“I'm going to change real quick”

I awkwardly stand not sure what to do. She comes wearing an oversized shirt and shorts. She gets into bed and pats the spot next to her.

“Whatcha waiting for?”

I kick of my shoes and dive into her bed. Pulling the covers and rolling myself into a burrito.

“Vic! Don't you dare hog the blankets.”

She giggles. I unroll myself and throw the covers over us. I pull her closer and kiss her cheek. She squirms away and turns off the lamp on her night stand and snuggles into me.

“Maya can I take you on an official date tomorrow?

She turns to look at me. She kisses me.

“is that a yes?” a grin spreading on my face.

She nods. She stretches her arm across my waist and snuggles in deeper onto my side. I play with her hair. I close my eyes and drift to sleep.

Maya

I sit up breathing heavily. Another Daisy dream. It's getting closer to her death anniversary. I always dream the day she died over and over. A loud snore snaps me out of my thoughts. I look down at Vic. His hair's all messy. I lay back down and he immediately rolls over and draps his arm over me. I need to sleep at least a few more hours.

I open my eyes and am met with a pair of brown ones looking back at me.

“Good Morning”

“Morning”

“Vic you're hair is everywhere”

“I know. I have crazy morning hair”

I could smell coffee. Sofia must be up already.

“I don't know about you, but I smell coffee and it's calling my name”

Vic laughs. We get up. He runs his fingers through his hair. I wish mine was that easy to tame. I pull mine back into a ponytail and open my door. The coffee smell is stronger. I walk into the kitchen and find Sofia making pancakes.

“Hey I was craving pancakes when I woke up so I'm making some for the both of us”

“Thanks, but I just want coffee”

“I heard pancakes!” Vic says walking in.

“VIC! You can have Maya's. Since their not good enough for her”

She sets two plates on the table. Vic sits down. I pour myself a nice big cup of coffee and sit down next to him. Sofia turns off the stove and carries a plate with a stack of pancakes over to us. She gives me a look and sits down to eat. The rest of breakfast goes by in peace. We had set up a small get together at Jamie’s on Friday. Vic finish eating and left to get ready for work.

“So did you guys fuck? Was he great?”

“SOFIA!”

“Chill out. I'm just messing.”

“He just spent the night. I didn't want him to go last night.”

“On a serious note,if you ever need condoms or anything just ask me. Are you on the pill?”

“Yeah. Sofia you're the one that made sure I was on it”

“Oh yeah!” She laughs

We talk for awhile. We haven't really had time to sit down and hang. She worked odd hours.
It was nice to finally catch up on each other.

Vic had kept our date simple. He took me out to eat. We had talk for hours getting to really know each other even more. I'm not gonna lie. When he spent the night when Sofia was all drunk with Mike, I had felt something. It was a small connection. I didn't act on it until Vic and I started to spend more and more time together. Now, well now I just wanted Vic to be with me. I like being around him plus he's cute. We walk up the three flights of stairs together.

“Maya can I ask you something?”

“Sure”

“I really enjoy spending time with you. This is going to sound so cheesy, but I feel whole when I'm with you. What I'm wanting to say is if you want to be mine?”

“L-Like you're girlfriend mine?”

Was he really asking me this. Was I ready to finally date someone again? But it's Vic. He's so sweet. He wouldn't hurt me.

“Maya?”

“Yes. Yes I will be yours.”

I wrap my arms around him and pull him in for a kiss.
