The Mistake

Noortje’s POV

Tony and I had gotten cleaned up and were now walking out of our hotel going on our spontaneous date. We had nothing planned and were just going to do what seemed fun. A group of fans was still waiting outside of the hotel. I walked over to them and they started freaking out.
“Hey guys.” I smiled
“Oh my god! I love you!” One girl was screaming while in tears.
There were other’s swooning over Tony and we gave hugs and took selfies with several fans. I never fully understood why fans had accepted me so quickly, I thought it would have been a lot more difficult. Maybe being in a few photos with the band had helped… but other than that I never found a reason why they liked me so much.
After a few minutes I was scooped off the ground and was now hanging upside down. I felt the blood rush to my head and started laughing.
“Sorry guys, but I’m going to have to steal her. We have somewhere to be.” Tony announced while swinging me around.
“Stop Tony! I’m going to be sick!” I warned.
Tony immediately put me down, knowing I had been feeling a bit queezy the last couple of days, especially after the fainting incident. I pouted and tried my best to look sad.
“Are you ok?” Tony worriedly asked.
I grinned and nodded, “Yeah, bye!”
I ran off and Tony stood flabbergasted for a while.
“Oh hell no!” He exclaimed and came after me.
The group of fans erupted into a chorus of giggles and awws. It was quite funny that fans really wanted us to be a couple, and we actually were. But I wasn’t planning on telling anyone soon, so I won’t mind seeing our ship name and cute photos of us all over the internet.

Tony caught up with me and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me up from the ground. He placed me back down and grabbed my hand. We walked past an information center and I walked right in. They had a shelf full of disposable cameras. I stared at them in awe.
“I haven’t seen one of these in years!” I gaped.
Tony picked one up, “Well, I’ll get one for you then.”
“No way, I’ll pay for it myself.”
“It’s the least I could do.”
I knew there was no arguing with him, in the end he would still find an excuse as to why he needed to pay for it. That’s just what Tony was like.

Tony gave me the camera after he paid for it and held on to my hand. I just realised that his hand was the perfect size for mine. After all those years of being close and holding hands, and I just realised it now? Maybe I used to deny it. But everybody was right the entire time. Tony and I were meant to be. We were too important to each other to not be. Nothing could mess this up.

We were strolling through the streets in silence. There rarely was silence in my life anymore. Recently everything had become so hectic and I was all over the place. Who knew joining a band would reveal my darkest secrets? I looked up at Tony and saw him smiling down at me. Wanting to remember this forever, I pointed the camera at him and took a picture.
“The first official picture on this camera is of my turtle.” I giggled.
“Oh, so I’m yours now?” Tony teased.
“Yes, no moaning about it.”
“I wasn’t.” He smirked.

Tony wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walked and I leaned slightly into him. We tried to avoid the main roads, hoping fans wouldn’t bother us too much. Sure, it was awesome to meet them, but Tony and I were trying to have some time for ourselves, without anybody finding out about us. It was tiring. Sometimes I just wished to be able to show the whole world that he was mine and I was his. But then again, the relationship would probably not last. There would be too much pressure and privacy invasion. Everybody will want to know about every single detail about our relationship. And don’t get me started on the rumours that will be spread. This was a secret. Our little secret.

“Oh my god. We need to go in here!” I said pointing at an old little bookstore.
“Sure, but everything will probably be in German.” Tony warned.
“Yes, and? My German might be a bit rusty, but this is awesome!”
“Well let’s go in then.”

We entered the store and were immediately met with the smell of old paper and worn leather. Shelves were covering all the walls and they looked like they were about to snap any moment. There was a table placed in the middle of the dimly lit room with books scattered all over it.
“Hold this.” I gave Tony the disposable camera and looked around me with my mouth open wide.
My fingers traced the spines. There were so many antique books here. It was like my own little heaven. I noticed a flash go off and looked at Tony, who had just taken a picture of me. I chuckled a bit and continued along the shelf, taking in the various titles and authors.

I bought two different books, however this time I insisted on paying and wouldn’t let it drop. We walked out of the store and said good bye to the sweet old man that owned it.

“So what do you wanna do now?” Tony asked.
“I don’t know… Why don’t we just keep walking and do whatever we stumble across?” I suggested.

We continued down the roads, already lost and no clue where we were. We could be hours away from the hotel or it could have been just around the corner. But to be honest, I did not care. All I cared about was this moment. This moment with Tony.

----

We came across a river. It was flowing slowly and there was a bank of gray stones along it. The water slowly splashed against the stones, leaving droplets to dry up in the sun. Tony and I walked over and sat down.

“I love this place,” I sighed, “It’s so calm and simple, unlike San Diego. Everything has to be faster and bigger there. Here it’s easy going… If I ever run away, you know where to find me. Right here, this place.”
“Hmm… It is beautiful, isn’t it?” Tony hummed, taking a bite of his ice cream.
I put my head oh his shoulder and looked out into the distance. My view was disrupted by the camera being hovered in front of me. The flash went off and I grabbed it from him. I looked around us, seeing that nobody was around and quickly slammed my lips onto his, taking another photo.
“This now contains some of my fondest memories.” I smiled.

We stayed there in silence, listening to the silent rippling and watching the sun move along the sky as time passed.
“Hey, Noortje?” Tony spoke up.
“Hmm?”
Tony sat up slightly and I took my head off his shoulder. I looked at him and he seemed nervous.
“I- I- I love you.”
I wasn’t sure how to react. Did I love him back? Was I ready for that step? He was my best friend and I would do anything for him… I also found myself thinking about him quite often. But was I ready to use that word again?
“I- I... ” I couldn’t get anything out. I didn’t know what to say.
“It’s ok, you don’t have to say it back. I understand.”
“I love you too.” I said in barely a whisper.
Tony gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen and went to kiss me, but we were interrupted by someone walking up to us.
“I’m sorry, but I just want to thank you for the music you make.” A girl around the age of 17 told us.
“Aww, thank you. We really appreciate that.” I grinned.
“I was wondering if you could give these to the others.” She handed me a couple of drawings/
“These are amazing! This totally looks like Vic!”“Thank you.”
“Are you coming to the show tomorrow?” Tony asked.
“Yea, I can’t wait.” She said excitedly.
“Well, see you then.” I said and gave her a side hug.
She waved goodbye and walked back off in the direction she came from.
“Some of our fans are so talented.” I breathed out.
“Yeah, just like you.” Tony grinned.
“Yeah right.” I stuck my tongue out and ran away from him.
For the second time today he ran after me and caught me, only this time he put his head through my legs, making me sit on his shoulders.
“I feel so tall!” I exclaimed.
Tony chuckled and took hold of my hands, intertwining our fingers. I could definitely get used to this. I truly loved this man, and there was nothing that could break us apart.
Tony walked up to a man a bit younger than us and asked him to take a photo of us. The guy happily obliged and grinned while he took a photo with the cardboard camera.
“You guys are really cute together.” He complimented.
I was starstruck… I couldn’t deny we weren’t together anymore, but I also couldn’t admit that we were. Lucky for me Tony answered.
“Thanks. It’s also fun with your bestfriend.”
That was a good way to put it. We were technically still best friends…

Tony eventually put me down and held my hand again.
“How about we go get something to eat?” He suggested.
“Hmm. If you want to. I’m not really hungry, but you can get something.” I replied.
Tony sighed and stopped walking, “You haven’t eaten at all today. When was the last time you actually ate something?”
To be honest I didn’t know. I just knew that whenever I ate something it would come back up in a matter of hours.
“I can’t just sit here and watch you slowly kill yourself.” He said with a pained expression.
“Kill myself? Why would I want to do that?”
“You’re basically starving yourself!”
“No, no you got that wrong. I’m not hungry and when I eat I throw up immediately after.”
“You see! That’s exactly what I mean!”
“I’m not starving myself!” I insisted.
We stood there in silence, Tony trying to find something in my eyes.
Tony sighed, “You know what? Maybe this was a mistake.”
“Wait, what do you mean?”
“Us! Maybe us being together was a mistake!”
I looked at his, tears threatening to spill, “Because of this?”
“Yes.” Was all he answered.
A single tear ran down my cheek.
“Oh… ok…” I mumbled and turned around.

I couldn’t believe it. Was he being serious? This was such a stupid thing to get mad about. I just fucking told him I loved him and he does this to me? This is why I don’t just throw love around! It always goes wrong. I finally had the courage to say it again….
I started running and ripped off the necklace, throwing it on the floor. Fuck him and his fucking lies.

Notes

Should they fix this or should they stay broken up?

Hahaha, thank you. You can totally see how my writing has developed in this story; the first chapters are written so bad. I'm excited for our story as well.

Yaaaaay I read it all! I finished it! I loved it, babe. You're an amazing writer and I'm happy I get to work together with you :) ♡

@Nickyvlxx
Thank you so much. I remember writing chapter three when I was in a really weird mood; I was so confused about everything. I'm Dutch as well, but (as I recall you saying somewhere at the beginning of the story; I have a really weird memory for weird things) English is my first language because I've been speaking it a lot more than Dutch since I was very young. But this wasn't the reason I chose to make her Dutch, I wanted something European and put some random countries in a hat (well, on a website, but same thing) and it came out. So yay!

I have read 3 chapters now and I honestly love it! You have a beautiful writing style and the story is really unique! I also kind of relate to Noortjes feelings. I have the same problems with reality. And I like it a lot that she is dutch because I am too :p

I'M STILL READING!!
